Omega Speedmaster Date Japan-only Ref. 3511.50

- My new squeeze. There’s hardly anything I don’t like about it.
These Japan-only dials were produced between 1991 and 1998 with a caliber upgrade in 1995.
Later models will have Luminova but most will show faded Tritium lume.
Unlike the Speedy Reduced, this watch runs a Valjoux 7750 base so it’s an automatic integrated chronograph.
Note: factor in service costs in all your purchases if not covered by the seller to avoid disappointments. Don’t blame me for tempting you ;-)

I am Korean. I found a same model with a silver dial in a watch repair shop few days ago. It was still in excellent condition by pricing US 1,200 dollars. I can feel your excitement with it as much as I had. I have omega vintage from my dad, and Mido Oven star but no chronograph one.
I own one and love it - it's the perfect dressy chrono and one of the most beautiful and best value Speedies out there, imo. Bridges perfectly the gap between vintage and modern. My copy is from 98 and still has great lume.
I love love love this 3511.50 reference. I have had the speedmaster reduced 3510.50, the triple date speedmaster, and the newer Speedmaster moonwatch 3861 2022. I love this 3511.50 the most. Perfect size, sapphire crystal, beautiful bezel reminiscent of daytona and race car scene, all with the reliability of the robust and well familiar valjoux 7750 while not costing a fortune. It looks fantastic. Retains the classic Speedmaster fonts, has a unique layout of dials, remains interesting and unique in its own way with the reverse panda dial, date at 3, and polygonal crown. I prefer this speedy date reverse panda over for my smaller wrist and more unique vintage styling. It will always look fantastic no matter the decade.
I bought one of these new 25 years ago for my 18th birthday. Mine is on a black leather strap. I managed to scratch the sapphire crystal and one of the chronograph hands fell off when a ball bounced off a pool table and into its face about 10 years ago. It has been in a box since then and I forgot about it. I have now put it in for a service and to fix some of the damage, just waiting for a quote from Omega. I hope the price to spruce it up isn’t too high as it has some sentimental value to me. Great review.
Omega can normally source all parts to bring it back to good condition. Good luck
I have this exact model. Please keep in mind that not many people can truly service this watch. I had it serviced in Chicago in the 90s and once in Taiwan while traveling and both from very reputable watch stores but finally sent it in to Omega for a full service to get it done properly. It came back like a brand new watch. I love it! I love this watch!
How much was the omega service?
@@uv77mc85 $1200. I was luck out. The watch came back looking brand new in a very nice box and extremely accurate now. They replaced many components including the dial. I sent it through Omega boutique.
Beyond beautiful, just got one this week from Japan.. Stunning solid watch
Thanks for a great review. I have wanted to add a chronograph to my collection and had been eyeballing this model and the Tudor Tiger 79280 for over a year. I own several Rolex's and two 41mm Seamasters and have been on the fence on either this one or the Tudor which gets the title as a cheaper Daytona. I am usually adverse to non screw down crowns which the 3511.50 doesn't have however the Tudor does. The benefit is this one can still be had in decent shape for one third the price of the Tudor 79280 yet both have the Valjoux 7750. In Japan you can get a decen condition one for $1,700 yet sellers in the US ask above $2300. It's pretty amazing that you can still see the tritium glow at night given its age. I can see a very faint glow on a few of my 90's Rolex's but it's extremely faint. Spot on about the box and papers btw.
I have this model, and you have eloquently expressed my feelings for this piece! Bravo!
Love it and great to see how excited you are about it. I didn’t know it was different to the Reduced.👍👏
Great find, Uptick. Really like this. Same as you, I'm really peeved when someone wants to buy a watch from me second hand, and expect it to be brand new / tested / guaranteed etc. I give them the same answer: you want a new watch, go buy a new watch with the price tag that goes with it.
Really enjoyed your video.
I got this watch yesterday and am loving it. My first “real” watch.
Congrats! Hope it treat you well. These were produced a while back so don't worry if you need a service at some point. It's not too expensive
Just watched your 3 terrific videos about this watch. ….and bought one. Damn, you’re good Uptick!
Very similar to my minty 1999 39m Breitling Chronomat Blackbird, 7750 but sans tritium, which I adore. The size is perfect and I’m sure to love this Omega too. Chrono 24, Tokyo seller, one of the cheapest being offered. I’m sure there’s a kosher DIY method for refilling the bezel indents. Thank you for all the excellent videos. ✅
Great video, mine will be arriving on Monday! If I'm lucky perhaps I'll bag a second "Omega" for the week in the Swatch store this weekend.
Love your reverse panda date now I am trying to hunt the panda date but prices are not helping… This week I got an Omega Mark 2 Circa 70 and over the moon with this old bad boy. Congrats Uptick for such a nice chrono for your collection. Cheers!
Considered getting this watch long time ago, but i was afraid it would look small on my 7 inch wrist! Looks great on yours uptick. Enjoy and wear it in good health 🌹
Congratulations Uptick for this Beautiful Omega. My brother have the same one (he bought it 15 years ago) on leather strap. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for sharing. It's a great watch. Definitely gets overshadowed by the "moon watch". I've always liked the older unpainted bezel.
Great video! Just got mine yesterday. Loving it!!
I bought one in excellent condition earlier this year with black chronometer dials very similar to the moon watch. It's great .
One exactly the same as yours arrived from Japan yesterday and I LOVE it!!!
Lucky 7! That's the beauty of buying vintage, enjoy the watch's journey! :D
What a beautiful watch. This is sure to become a coveted model I’m sure. Wait and see.
Great 👍 content 😊 enjoyed 😁 watching this review, 👍 when u going to do your all your Seiko watches review
Love the Uptick logo , looks cool.
Thoughts on the 3511.80? I think it is a beautiful watch as well
How are these older models holding up these days? I’m looking at a few from Japanese sellers on eBay and was wondering if there were any mechanical issues with them?
Any mechanical watch needs to run and be maintained. I had to service one of them pretty much right away even though it was mint. It's about a $300 service
hi may i know what the different between 3511.50 and 3811.50?
Thanks
Great video. I like that strap on the Seiko at the end. Can you tell me what that is.
great find , iam trying to decid betewen this or the racing
Not seen any with such a good bezel condition and plus +5 seconds, at that $ where you searching for sometime or lucked out?
Wait til you see my second one…
So unique!!
