Those Tazara locomotives had been sitting at Capital Park for such a long time I thought they had become permanent residents there. They are definitely being transferred somewhere far judging by the fact a class 43GE is coupled to them.
Awesome video. I wonder if these Diesel locos will reach Zambia by rail? I know when Traxxion bought the Afro4000s and sent them north they ended up having to use trucks due to the poor network in between here and there (even inside SA). Regarding the new overhead lines - I have this sad feeling these will be stolen as well - at least in part. I wonder why the Gautrain wires were left intact over lockdown while so much Transnet/Prasa infrastructure was destroyed? Is it more to do with Gautrain's security or the higher value of the 3kV DC copper wires used by TFR? I heard these new overhead lines are not easily recyclable - so hopefully the crims figure that out fast. Apparently Transnet will only move on to repairing the PTA/Joburg main line after Mabopane and Pienaarspoort are back in action - so it will probably be a long wait before I see X'Trapolis service through Centurion.
The destination is still unknown at present. I also suspect they might be going to the traxtion workshop in Rosslyn. Ohh yes with regards to trucking of locomotives, it's very sad and frustrating
