You’re channel is by far my favorite and you give extremely good explanations and tips, thank you 🙏
As a ZZ solver I saw a really nice XCross solution for the first solve example at 12:30.
I used typical ZZ block making techniques and knowledge of EO to make the XCross.
Solution was:
L D (D to pair up white and blue corner to edge and have 3 colors on opposite sides)
R U R U' D2 (doing an R2 here works fine but I decided to have another pair really easy)
R' U' R' y U L' U' l
KungFuMedia nice
You learned 500 algs
Aryav Saigal no, he doesn’t use full ZBLL, ZZ solvers usually just use OLL and PLL
Zz bad
Too much for my brain
10:00 since this cross is only R and D moves i noticed red-green pair and would do L' U2 L to pair up after cross
I m LEFT HANDED, but still can't do the L moves as efficiently as R moves. Still can't figure out U2 moves from left hand. WILL the SOCIETY accept me?
Milind Soman im right handed but actually do L moves more efficiently. i do U2 moves with my left by doing a U' twice with my index and middle finger one after the other immidately
tell people u r right handed easy
I can't do speed solving and only use beginner methods for solves but yea I'm a lefty and left handed moves are harder for me too. Weird, lol
me too, but i think it's ok, cause in football and other sports i have same "trouble": i'm left handed, but my main leg or hand is right
I am left handed but a right handed cuber
This was exactly what I needed to do to improve my solves. Thanks for all the great videos J Perm. ;)
you're welcome! :)
Shadrach do you still cube
@@sonic-dy9jv yep I still enjoy it. I don't as often as I used to but I guess that's part of managing time as an adult lol
@@shadrachsharp6273 Ok, so how much time does it take you to solve a cube
@@sonic-dy9jv using cstimer generated scrambles I was around 9-10 seconds on average, pr of 7.14 seconds. I don't cube as often anymore but I average around 11-13 with an occasional 8-9 second solve.
These videos are SO GOOD and there is nothing else on youtube like them
This is actually AMAZING
Man I gotta say this. I average 1 min to 40 secs and my pb was 35 secs (my last PBs were also around 35 secs). I've been stuck in these times for a week or two, and since I just learned full PLL I didn't feel like keep learning more algorithms rn, so I turned to practicing a little bit of f2l. I couldn't get many cases stuck, but it helped my intuition, plus I found pseudoslotting and could implement a little bit of that in my solves. Despite this, I was still averaging the same time, I'd get tired more quickly, which meant I started declining even more in my last solves, which would last 1:20 or more.
I was really frustrated, so I asked myself what I was doing wrong, and immediately I noticed that I wasn't putting the effort to practice deliberately like when learning full PLL. Like, I was practicing many things at the same time, instead of specifically one at a time, with enough repetition. So as my cross and transition to f2l was really crappy, I decided to practice that today, and I found this and another video of yours that's related. Payed attention to your analysis, repeated many times your solutions to get them stuck in my memory, and afterwards focused on applying this into some scrambles.
It was very hard, since I had the bad habit of just solving as fast as I can without looking in advance prior to solving, but I got it to the point where I could solve the cross a lot easier. My first practice scrambles were pretty bad (1:20, 1:40, even 2 min cause I got PLL wrong) because I was putting all my brain power into keeping track of the pieces and looking ahead, which required solving slowly, but at the end I decided to try and solve normally to see if I could apply all this with some speed, and like magic I got down like 20 secs in two solves (around 40 secs each). Then I got one in 50, then 53 and I thought "well no matter, now I can look ahead while I solve, so it's still alright".
But then in the next scramble I got an easy cross, which with the practice I made I could see and come up with a solution. Solved the cross fast, then notice I have 1 f2l pair ready to insert, and the rest is like normal. But once I finish I look at the time, AND IT WAS 30 SECONDS.
30 FREAKING SECONDS. I was like "DUDE WHAT!? NEW PB BY FIVE WHOLE SECONDS OMG!!!".
So I'm super happy I overcame that barrier. I was starting to think that I reached my limit, but I still can get down my times, and I have to thank you and your videos, Dylan. I know 30 seconds is still a lot, but for me this is great progress. I'll keep practicing, and I hope I can get sub 20 or even sub 10 eventually.
yo thats an essay
Looking ahead at 50s?
Bro what's your average now ?

At 9:45 (with blue as the front face), why not just do L' to bring the red-blue-white corner to the top layer? It won't be affected by the first cross solution that you suggest because it's only R and D moves, and I think this is easier than the second solution you suggest that makes the pair and preserves it.

and free 2nd pair
Ok something, people say no one knows this channel but my thoughts.
Ur first vid was high quality and was 10 months ago. U put a lot of effort to ur vids and u make vids kind a weekly so I would say ur improving fast. Good effort man keep it up
Thanks! Yeah compared to a lot of youcubers i'm pretty new, but I hope to be a common name in the future :)
I also have a ok tip, so you setup random hand scrambles and solve like maybe one cross edge so its npt too hard to plan first pair yet, and once that one cross edge solved is easy, then do like normal scrambles,
Hi J Perm, I just watched your video on cross to f2l transition by predicting first pair, and I think that for your first example solve (scramble: D2 R2 B2 L2 D' L2 D' F2 U2 L2 U' B' U2 L' U' B2 U' F' R2 B' U'), you might have missed out the fact that blue-red edge was already in its correct spot, thus blue should not be inserted with an R'. You cross solution was L U2 D' L2 R' (yellow top, orange front), and I would like to propose another solution to create an X-Cross, while preserving that blue-red edge. My cross+1 solution would be: L (to solve red) U F2 (to solve green while allowing for another way to insert blue and preserve the blue-red edge) D L (to solve blue) D R U R' (keyhole to solve blue red white corner while red blue edge is still preserved) D (to finish of the X-Cross). Hope this solution is helpful :)
I know im a bit late to figure out this X-Cross, but I just saw this video 6 years aft it was created............
That Z perm tho! 0:26
I'm struggling a lot with the cross right now.. I average 32 ish seconds and my cross is nearly 7-10 seconds on average and I had one that was 14 seconds earlier today 🤢
It’s ok man. Everyone gets times like that some one point. Just practice your look ahead and try to get faster at algorithms
So now u know what u need to focus on
The cross is the hardest step to learn imo. I've been cubing for 6 months and only now can I come up with a full cross solution more often than not.
@@nicky2coats a full cross solution is hard, but f2l was way harder for me
To be honest learn all the advance cross tips slowly use it after about 3 months u will definitely get a full cross solution just practice 5 cross solutions blindfolded daily
I have problems remembering my cross solution while tracking the corner and the edge. Should I really imagine the letter? How do you remember your solution?
I imagine how the pieces move, then translate that into what my fingers do

If I want to improve efficiency, is it better to use a worser cube like a Rubik's 2.0 because I heard that last time, the cubes were bad and they had to depend on efficiency
Offline Cuber true using a bad cube you can’t turn very fast so you need to be slow and efficient
Offline Cuber what do you mean by “worser” cube and what is a rubiks 2.0? Do you mean the rubiks and gan collab becuase that cube is actually good.
@@parityhater7155 no, Rubik's 2.0 is just the newer Rubik's brand cube, the one with tiles that still turns horribly. I don't know why the original commenter didn't just say "Rubik's brand," maybe just for specificity.
This is great because if I can plan my first pair, I can look ahead to my second.
Thank god you uploaded a video. Need more lessons from you.
Hey JPerm, you are at the teaching f. vanguard... these kind of videos are really substancial man... just keep on please.
hey j perm....i think i found this easy trick to remember color scheme..
if u are solving a piece in its opposite, u solve all others in their opposites..
if u place it in an adjacent color, u put the opposite of the piece u solved on the adjacent color
instructions unclear: cube stuck in ceiling
can I get a like :-)
+ithun yeasir Yup that's actually what most people do :) I don't have the color scheme memorized for any color (except when doing big cubes) so I do something like what you said each solve
I am currently sub-25. I am tried really hard for sub 20 but I face problems during look ahead in f2l
Mitanshu Pakhale Same..
Mitanshu Pakhale I average the same. my problem is the opposite of yours though. my lookahead, f2l, and last layer are all very fast, but my cross is awful. cross alone takes up about a third of my solve and I'm having so much trouble improving 😂
TNO Bronze I always solve cross on bottom, but hm.. I've never thought of insterting one or two and then rotating until it's in bottom. That could help. I can plan my cross out completely, but my execution is slow and my solution isn't super efficient(probably 10-12 moves)
TNO Bronze okay, thanks. Yeah I've already minimized rotations on my f2l and last layer (I can usually do f2l with only 1 or 2, and I never have to rotate for last layer), but I do tend to rotate once or twice during cross.
TNO Bronze okay well thanks for the tips, and good luck to you too on improving

Could you possibly do a video on "shortcut" finger tricks? Like doing the F' turn with the right thumb instead of the left. I can't seem to figure out how to do it correctly and I don't really see a detailed guide oh how to postion the fingers on the back or etc.
Go on my channel and check out my first video ever :)
17:28 What happened? Why did you just suddenly stop and put the cube away? There was one more scramble you had to walkthrough according to the description. You only walked through till the second-last scramble in the description.
Sorry, i made a mistake there. I removed the scramble from the description so that there's no confusion now.
Your videos are simply amazing! even for those who doesn't speak english as their native language. Keep cubing.
J Perm, I'm just around 15-17 second averages. I've intuitively done F2L for quite some time now, but I'm realizing that there are countless algorithms for each and individual case in different situations and orientations, etc. that are much faster. I'm just wondering how it is possible to learn and apply these algorithms quickly and efficiently. Being able to utilize these algorithms one by one seems extremely difficult to me.

Hi, I have a kind of silly question. I'm an intermediate cuber. Question is, when you plan the cross during inspection, do you spell out the move letters in your head or just visualise the motions to come ? Thanks.
just visualize what my hands will do
Thanks.
Awesome video brother..keep it up and Thank you
Omg! 😊😁😃.
I got 32.34s I tried to imagine my cross and solved it in 4-6s, than after I got pair red-green but, I saw blue-orange that I can pair it. And I preserved red-green pair after inserting both pairs, red-blue was paired but, was flipped. So, a last pair green-orange I paired them.
Got OLL 01 pretty easy, then PLL H perm. And it's solve
what should the average f2l times be for a sub 15-20 solver???Just wanted to ask as i am trying to reduce my f2l times....I would really appreciate it if you could reply........
+Arun Munagala 15-20 is a huge range, but for 15 I think around 10, and for 20 I think around 13-14 but this all depends on whether you've learned full OLL.
This may sound weird but does anyone else try to implement only doing non-competition solves where you go out of your way to plan the first pair (if you're not already comfortable doing it in competition) but end up relapsing to (sorta) mindlessly solving the cube? I think it happens to me the most while I'm cubing in public in fear of others wondering why I'm staring at my 3x3 without making any moves for so long, heh. I probably would be fine explaining that I'm trying to practice visualizing moves but I always revert to normal.
Thanks alot! this vid is very useful. but what should I do if the cross is hard? should I just see which layer the peices will go?
if you're worried about inspection time then just track a corner. but if you're practicing at home try to always trace both pieces
Can we remember how the pieces move for solving the cross or remember moves and execute them?
Hey j perm, i have been practicing this for about a month now. Can i sometimes make my cross sulotion like 2 moves longer to make it easier for myself. Eg. If i have to put a bad edge on a good edge to make the bad one also good, can't i just use the 3 mover to insert the bad edge if their is a f2l corner behind it which is a lot easier to predict where it is going to be. Thanks.
What is a good average before learning/practicing cross +1?
Hey j perm do we have to memorize the cross solution in an alg and use it find where the pieces would go?
So should I line up a bunch of scrambled cubes and do like blind folded drills? Do you think that would be most efficient. Thanks J. !
I've also been switching to orange/red from white/yellow. So it's slowing me down a lot at first but it helps with X cross a lot. I just am going to ignore green and blue for a while. It's so irritating at first!!!!
+Stan Smith blindfolded drills for practicing what?
J Perm email me gsmith999 jeemail. I meant for doing the cross so that it becomes muscle memory to the extent where you can completely focus on F2L.
How are we supposed to think through the cross solution moves? I solve cross by knowing what moves are happening based on cross piece location, not by thinking through letters.
I try to figure out the solution for the cross in the inspection! When i execute it I end up having flipped cross edges or wrongly matched cross edges! And then that ends up taking something like 14-17 secs for just the cross solve.
If you can offer some advice to avoid such type of issues?
+regal jindal Do fewer pieces at once to get used to it. gradually build up

Nice video as always! Got a question, though: at 2:53 you say you're only tracking the white sticker. Well, maybe it's a stupid question, but don't you need to track two of them? Obviously, the relative positioning of stickers will remain the same (e.g. if white is on top, then blue and red will be always in the same position - unless you manually swap the stickers), so in theory you'd know your F2L case with knowing only the orientation of the cross-color sticker (white in your case) and the placement of the corresponding edge.
Still, it seems so hard for me to predict the case just from the white sticker's orientation. (I average about 25 seconds, but just recently started even attempting to plan the first F2L at inspection.)
iff you know f2l better you shouldn't have to know the other two stickers to know the case
@@gamerdude-hp3md I see. Thanks!
