    For those of you wondering about the cube:
    I have 2 Yuexiao Pro cubes that I have no use for, so I peeled the stickers off one of them. Anytime I need specific pieces (like in my ZZ tutorial too) then I just swap out black pieces for stickered pieces.

      J Perm can you do your community a huge favor. One of my favorite videos and many others favs is the 3x3 ranking. Its so enjoyable to watch you do rank 3x3s and its very helpful. Pls make another one. You should include way more 3x3s than last time and keep the old ones. like a lot of cubes. That would be awesome.

    Thank you very much for giving deeper insight on cross-building, there were a few tricks that I hadn't thought about applying such as attempting to make your first move a U or D move and refraining from leaving the cross on the bottom during your first few moves if it'll leave you with more favorable turns.
    Also that cross-only cube is such a big mood, I used to have an old Rubik's brand cube that I peeled all the stickers off of except for F2L pieces, heh.

    Summary of video:
    What side to face, depending on how much regrips there are and how efficient it is(is it finger trickable). Saving regrips is finding solutions that have less regrips(make you change your current hand position or grip). The first move of the cross is usually slower when you do b and f when you lift the cube because it has a regrip at the start which slows down your momentum. If there is only pieces in bottom layer you can just fix it by using replacement technique or other advanced cross techniques. You also avoid B moves in solve and if there is no option then try to do a R or L moves to setup to a B move to speed up the cross without regrips. If you want to start the solve with F/B moves face the white side and do the solution which helps minimize regrips. A common mistake for cubers is to trying to avoid b moves when there is a lot of pieces in one side instead you can minimize effect of B move by setting it up using R or L moves. Go over mulitple options to solve a cross to help solve efficiently like changing sides or moving different pieces. Lastly, use the replacement technique which is just replacing a unnecessary piece with a needed piece and put the un-needed piece into the cross at the end of the cross solve.
    I hope you found this summary useful!

    4:30 I would've done the Cross like this, also facing green: D2 L2 D' R' F2 which is pretty easy to fingertrick and one move less. I also have a question how to take the most advantage of color neutrality because I often see myself spending a lot of time choosing in which color should I do. Btw really useful video

    • @JPerm
      @JPerm  4 роки тому +42

      For color neutrality you should focus on colors that have the most cross pieces attached to the center, like a red edge touching the red center. I go over this a bit in color neutral example solves. This usually reveals one of the best crosses, and makes first pair tracking a lot easier.

    I just got started a week or so ago and can now solve the darn 3x3. Ok, while my brother had one when I was a kid I did not and never solved it. But I did solve the Pyraminx back then (you know the 80's if not the 70's, lol) well before my older brother. Thought I would pass on, cool channel and enjoy your videos on the puzzles. Thought I let you know that I did use your code at SCS for Supernova 2 M, 3 M, 4 M, 5 M Valks. Supernova Wingy Skewb M, Supernova Bell Pyraminx M, and a QiYi Master Pyraminx all in stickerless just to have nice puzzles to learn to solve. Yeah, yeah I know they are way over my head and not interested in completing just wanna learn to solve all of these. Besides fight the Rubik's Cube already is no fun, and watching all you guys flicking stuff when not quite aligned makes me envious! Should be fun my new teacher!

    Nr 8: what I like to do here is put blue on top of the red bad Edge and out green on bottom of red (D U2) and then put red into the right spot (R') which gets blue and green ready to insert at the same time! (F B')
    And then you just do orange last

    Would it be helpful for a speed solve newbie to create cubes like you are using in this video, with mostly black cubes? Currently the only cube I have is an RS3M2020 which I love. Should I buy more of them, and put black stickers on or should I buy a budget cube that comes with stickers and only put the stickers on that you've done in the video?

    That's pretty good, I'm not an expert at all but one thing I found out is that for the first cross scramble, it's easier to solve on yellow

    Can you make a tutorial video for how to take off the stickers and polish up the cube so there's no sticky residue?

    Extra tip: if you plan on starting the cross with (U2 D2), you can rotate y2 and just start with E2 which makes fingertricks way easier imo

    • @waldolemmer

      What's y?

    • @doiz-gd8505
      @doiz-gd8505 2 роки тому

      @@waldolemmer y2 means rotate the cube 180 degrees, y means 90 degrees

    Hey idk if you'll answer this, but for inspection for the cross, do you think of where you're going to MOVE the pieces or do you think of the algorithm order that you have to solve the pieces in. I can complete the cross in inspection but I'm just slow after i get about halfway through because i forgot what pieces needed to go next and froze, as well as extremely slowed down so i could see what i was doing. I've been cubing for a year now and have only gotten 20.695 and am looking to get sub 20 (im 2 look PLL rn but hoping to learn the rest) im fast at everything but the cross and always struggle to have a full mental image on what turns i need to make to solve the cube as fast and efficiently as possible. (i main the Moyu RS3M 2020 btw, yours ofc) Thank you so much if you can help me with this

    For scramble 2, it's faster to put yellow on front orange on top and do L2 F' (R' l') F D
    Scramble 4: It's easier to start WTGF and do U r' D2 F (R l) D'
    Just some optimizations for anyone who needs it.
