My neighbour in Italy used to have many Lambos, including the spectacular purple Diablo SE Jota. I was a teenager at the time, those cars were really striking to me. The Jota, the SV, the red Diablo, the black Countach. When you mentioned the name of the collector (Righini, GH sounds as in Lamborghini in italian) I realised your car is EXACTLY the car I was running to see from the fence when he was passing by my house, the roaring engine, the whining of the gearbox. The same car I was watching from my bedroom window while he was entering his house's gate. This is insane. Thanks for revamping those memories. Good luck with that awesome purple lady.
What a shame the channel didn’t like or respond to your comment from 2 yrs ago. A possible first hand account of a car that he is calling a family heirloom.
I do like the way these look. I’m waiting for some car company to bring back pop-up headlights. I think they would look really cool with modern technology and LEDs.
SE30 (non-J) is my favorite Lambo of All-time. Black with all green alcantara interior. Magnesium cam covers and lightweight internals. The lightest weight Diablo at over 400lbs lighter. It really was a Diablo made by a different world.
Back in around 1997, I was driving a truck near the Silverstone race circuit in the UK. I heard this noise above the sound of the truck, looked in my wing mirror and there was a purple Diablo SE30 Jota. I wound my window down and he gave it the beans - the sound was incredible. Within seconds he was a dot in the distance and I could still hear it. Magical.
John, thank you for bringing us this footage. I believe this to be the only in-depth coverage of an SE30 Jota anywhere on UA-cam. It is such a cool car! I'm ashamed to admit I didn't realize this until only a few years ago. As someone who was a teenager in the 90s, and who played the Need For Speed video games in the late 90s, I was under the impression that the Diablo SV is the top of the line, best version of the Diablo. I remember watching Jamiroquai's video to Cosmic Girl where he drove an SE30, thinking and wishing he had been driving an SV. I didn't know I was so wrong at the time. In 2012, I came across a SE30 at a Cars & Coffee event in Colorado and nobody was paying attention to it - everybody was swarming around other cars (I still have a picture of its license plate and I can send it to you if you want to try track it down).
Interesting to read this, because I did all you said back in the 90s playing NFS 3 with the Diablo SV and I also was a fan of Jamiroquai so that was one of my favourite music videos ever. However I wished the SE30 was in nfs instead of the SV. SV was cool but the design, rims, front and sideskirst were more sexier to me in the SE, the even got some design touches from it for the Diablo Roadster. I still want they include the SE30 in some racing games, Assetto Corsa has it as a mod, but I really want Gran Turismo include it the next game or at least some mid 90s diablo beause of the accuracy that the games has usually. Really good to read your comment, because I identify myself with your story 100%.
I prefer this to any Aventador. The car sold at auction looks like a real unicorn. This is better than any Ferrari. I had a 1/18th die cast model of this car. Thank you.
Best Lambo ever made period, the SE30 Jota is on a class of its own. And I am so happy that this one has gone to someone that really loves the car because it signifies something special to him.
Great videos.... No fancy click bait titles... No fancy introductions... Just great stories about great cars....I miss south Fla.....need to get back ...
John you would of been the best story telling pirate ever!!!! You have incredible stories that make people learn to dream again. Please more stories now!!!!
Man I love these vids. As a kid in the 80s I was obsessed with Lambos obviously not as obsessed as you lol but its really cool hearing these stories and histories about these cars. I really loved the one with your dad at the factory. So fkn cool
I saw a Lamborghini Diablo this same color and Ferrari F50 next to each other at a car show 94-95-ish. I'd like to add F-14 Tomcat to the list as a "personal Aircraft." :-D
I had a Jota in the 80’s. A Laverda Jota. 1000 cc’s triple cylinder Italian super bike which was an absolute beast & the polar opposite to my Ducati SD 900 Darmah in terms of handling & acceleration. A mate bought a Yamaha V-Max which was banned in the US & other markets due to its extreme power & torque figures. The engine, a V4 masterpiece was a tyre slayer.
I looked up the word “ Radical “ in the dictionary and Yeep!!! They showed a glossy picture of a nice Purple Metalíc 30th Ann. Lamborghini Diablo 👿 SE Jota. Cool !!!!! 👍
"what’s incredible about these Diablos is that they are extremely well planted"...... well.. they are..... until they are not. At which point you have to hope there is nothing in the immediate vicinity because you absolutely will not be able to recover it. The Ultimate Diablo. Fantastic video, thanks for posting.
For some reason this is hands down my ultimate favorite exotic ever. I have a few models myself and I love the one with the scoops on the rear. Thank you for sharing this . Congratulations on all your successes
That was a nice little video John. Fantastic looking car too and super rare. I love the SE30 paint in the sun, however it looks very different in the shade. The Diablo is an old school Lamborghini and you get all the positives and negatives of that era.
I Iove this video and thanks for to sharing. I owned a 96vt and I miss it so much. It worked so well too and I even drove it in the snow but that was a one off. The 6.0 is my favourite then the Se30. I wonder how it feels compared to a VT and SV
Hey John, is this the exact same spec than the Purple Lamborghini Diablo LO30 featured in Jamiroquai’s -Cosmic Girl music video? That one is number 142/150
I truly love this car, and had knowledge of the kits built by the Lamborghini F1 division. It is a shame it is a little underrated because just as yourself, I have an enormous fascination for the SE30 J. Actually, I'd type in the car on the search bar in hopes to get a closer look at the inside and it's revving/exhaust notes. Kudos for actually providing a story regarding this beautiful car. Not going to lie, I hope it stays somewhat "unknown" to actually have a chance in the future to obtain one. This car is the reason I am deciding to stay single and without kids lmao. Such an immaculate piece of Lamborghini history.
Really enjoyed listening while you drove , it is so alive, you were alive, magnificent in colour and noise and detail, phenomenal video thank you, I listened with my headphones on , one of the best sounding engines ever if not the best
The Countach was always my favorite until that exact car came along. I loved the Diablos when they were introduced, but nothing won me over more so than when I first saw a picture of the Diablo SE 30 in purple metallic. About 10 or 11 years ago, I was visiting a Lamborghini dealership in Atlanta and they had a black Diablo on the showroom floor that had a Jota style hood on it. I couldn't take my eyes off that car. It was gorgeous.
If the guy you are referring to is Mr. Righini, I suggest everyone to visit his collection. It's inside the castle of Panzano in Emilia Romagna and consist of 350 of the most beautiful cars ever made. The jewel of the crown is the Auto Avio Costruzioni 815, a unique piece, the very first car made by Enzo Ferrari. To top it all off it's free (at least when I visited)! You just have to book in advance.
Any way you can make a PDF of that factory production list of the SE30s you showed in the previous SE30 video? I’d love to enlarge it and frame it on my wall. Thanks man

I have collected images of numerous others but I have no way of confirming what number out of the 150 SE30s they are or if they are indeed genuine Jotas, since I've seen a couple of SVs on the street kitted out to look remarkably like SE30's (wheels were the only tell). Years ago I had read that of the 28 Jota kits that were built, only between 12 and 15 of the kits found their way into a car; that information is a decade old now so I get that there's plenty of room for the Jota story to evolve between then and now; I don't doubt that the number of installs could be up to 26 by now.

for sale in Norway at tjauto.no for 6,900,030 Krone with 22k km.(august 2015) This completely correct edition of SE30 Jota was commissioned by the Guiliano Righini, former president of Lamborghini Club Italy and a very keen Lamborghini collector. He received as an acknowledgment for his involvement with Lamborghini, the honor to be awarded car no. 30 of 150 SE30 editions, which are also reflected in the car's chassis number. In addition, the vehicle's "30SE" -plaque adorned with his name.

Small world. Love it.
Diablo SE still looks better than any new Lambo
Absolute Postercar from my Childhood!👍
Not really but they do look cool. I was born in 82 so they are special.
I do like the way these look. I’m waiting for some car company to bring back pop-up headlights. I think they would look really cool with modern technology and LEDs.
