I don’t understand how you manage to achieve what you do. 76 hour week, family commitments, looking after your wonderful property - it’s great that you can spend time shooting as much as you do. And it’s great content. I’m sorry that I can’t contribute financially - I’m unable to work due to a disability and a plethora of fairly major health issues. I don’t know what the secret is but I can’t see why your channel isn’t a damn sight bigger. Continue doing your stuff - but don’t neglect your health - I did and regret it now, appreciate your family and your time with them. All the best for 2025 from a well meaning Pom.
Hi mate. It’s certainly hard. I probably shouldn’t have started the channel because I have such a wonderful community now that I can’t stop and let them all down. It’s a hard task to keep up. I don’t know why it’s not bigger, certainly not due to not trying. We put a lot of effort in. It’s just how it goes I guess. Thanks for the appreciation. I don’t neglect the family but certainly hard to keep it all going. Thanks for reaching out and many happy returns
Happy New Year to you and all the family. You have provided some great content in 2024 and I look forward to new stuff in 2025. The drone will add another element to the videos and that sounds exciting. Thankyou also for the kind words.

Hi mate thanks for the wishes and many happy returns to you also. I’m glad that you like what we do here. It’s a lot of hard work and the application sure is welcome and noticed.
You may not be interested in the Australian and British specific stuff, but for those of us in other countries, that’s a big part of the attraction for us. We get to see things that are not what we get to see every day here. We see Mack, KW, Ford, and stuff like that all the time, but Albion, Holden, Austin, and these other brands are new and unique to us. And I know you love collecting and working on the big trucks, but for many of us that’s somewhat interesting, but hard to relate to. That said, I don’t plan on going anywhere, but I just may not watch every episode.
I do like them mate and certainly appreciate them with the utmost respect, but for the time I have, and the funds I have, I’d rather sink that into the ones I like. That said, I will certainly be working on more of them if I come across them. Thanks mate and all the best

Onwards and upwards Steve, it’s a new year so here’s to an amazing subscription increase for your channel. People, especially from overseas, will grow to appreciate that this is an authentic Aussie production, dinky die presenter with a wealth of mechanical knowledge, set on an original rural property so just be patient mate and don’t give up. You and Bruce from Downunder are my favourite channels.
Thank you Gordon, your comments are always very positive and go a long way in helping me keep going. I’m really glad that you enjoy what I do here. I will keep going for a while mate and see where it takes us. Thanks as always 🙏🙏🙏

* Thanks for another Austin vid. The wife is in bed already so I'll celebrate new years with your channel. It's a quiet night here in Michigan . Got a wet snow coming down sticking to everything. A true Winter Wonderland. The fireworks will start up in a couple hours then it'll get noisy for a while. Happy New Year to you & the family mate. Looking forward to the new vids of yours this year. 🎉🍾🥂🥳
Hi mate sorry for the late reply and thanks for your support. It was a quiet night here too on new year’s eve. I only had 3 drinks believe it or not. Was a warm night. We had been away and got home in the afternoon and didn’t feel like getting into it. Happy new year to you also mate and there’s plenty coming this year
@@Awsom47Merc Hello, this is Geoffrey from Old American Iron. Here in southern Wisconsin it’s been a pretty much snowless winter so far, you can keep the snow in Michigan. Are you across the lake or north of me? Steve has a great channel. Having been there and met him , he, his family and friends are even better in person.
Nice to see it drive, I would imagine it had quite a "Thirst" back in the day? but I suppose Petrol wasn't quite as expensive as it is today? Cheers Fellow have a great 2025.
Another thing, there's a guy here in Arkansas, Jennings Motorsports, he gets actual, kid-you-not boat anchors back to life! People LOVE that kind of content!! Just do what you're doing. It's not easy having a channel and I don't know how long you've been at it, but keep a stiff upper lip! You'll make it if you want to. Cheers.
Yes I’ve watched a few of his videos. I’ve done the same sort of content and it gets very little views compared to his, but he’s been going a while I’d imagine
Happy New Year Steve!! Dam Steve!! if the Austin was a 1937/8 Dodge 6 2 ton truck It'd be sitting in my place already. Yes I'm looking for one of those at around that price. Yep don't really care about the body other than the grill I want a good rolling chassis. Anyway bring on 2025!!!!
Having the tank under the tray and having it all in one sounds like a very pommy thing they do. I've been watching my niegbour who restores gear boxes, have lots of fun (not) with a Range Rover POS gearbox. All in one with the low range, high and 4wd, total nightmare to work on. His main boxes he does are eaton fuller, if you ever get stuck I'm happy to send you his number. The only thing is he is in WA, but he's very old school with his repairs.
Hi mate yes it’s a Pommy thing I’m sure. Your neighbour sounds interesting. I like doing gearbox’s but I mainly do caterpillar ones that are a bit different to a manual transmission.
Some of the rambling is some of the best bits 😃. Another great video and thanks for all the effort putting these together. Completely understand the time issue and the juggling work-life balance. Always look forward to your videos and would miss it if you pull the plug, but would understand, family commitments must come first.
Hi Steve I’m glad you liked the rambling mate. I thought it was a good thing to do for the last episode of the year. Thanks for your support mate and plenty more to come this year
Thanks mate. We aren’t just UA-camrs, we are a community of like minded Aussie blokes hat love old iron. Good luck in 2025 and thanks for the shout out
Mate that is very generous of you and you certainly didn’t have to do so. We very much appreciate it. Yes I think you are right. It’s a community like you say and we share what we enjoy. That’s really what I do it for.
Steve one thing that people dont get is in the states they crush beautiful pre 70s gear everyday .they are in it for the money they dont have room or time to keep them as loads of people get up in arms about it and hell yes i get mad but onx guy tries to give people a chance to buy them and no one comes so they really cant be blamed ,its like the austin it has a great lot of parts but i cant see many of those left lol.your a great guy steve wish i could have a beer with ya .hope you sort your breathing out mate .happy new year to you and fam 😊
That’s what I’m going through here. Some people are into me for wanting to scrap it, but I’ve given plenty of people the opportunity to come and take it too but nobody has. It’s a hard one mate. Something has to happen to it eventually. Thanks for the support mate and hopefully we can have a drink one day
Be a gwell hp po hoist steve tank and hoist are one my uncle had one on his dodge you have tip it up and prop just tip bit old sump oil in it mate it be ok for your use have a good new year mate to hope your mending soon thanks for the shout out mate your wellcome the starter was just sitting there hope you get the Ferguson there is a old carbrutor here if you need it see how you go with it hope you have a good 2025 with family and doing whst you like doing mate .better go a get some steel posts out now take it easy and have few cold ones and mend
Thank you Alan. I would imagine you’re right about the hoist. Fairly tidy compact unit and all in one. I put some in it but don’t think it needed any. Thanks again for the starter. It’s a great gift and will certainly give it a go. Hopefully someone watches and donates some wheels to complete it. All the best for the new year mate
Mate, 76 hours a week with an hour travel each day? Im in Melbourne as a diesel mechanic and my hourly rate is still less than a union site electrician, but working that much Double time, i was on near 200k a year and miserable. And i didn't see my family, and i had no time to do my projects. I'm 36, just cut back on the ot, you're only paying tax on most of it. I moved jobs with more responsibility but the ability to walk away and shorter hours means i have time at home for my family, the dog, my cars etc. And take home wasn't much less too. I don't always watch but i enjoy when i do.
It’s a huge week but without the overtime the money is rubbish. I don’t like the hours At all but have been here so long it’s hard to look further. I am very miserable here, but having 3 kids and a lot of bills it just seems to be safe and it all works
Steve, another great video and to no surprise. You are second to none for a great send off for the old year. Looking forward to what will be coming in the new year. Once again my visit will always be one of the high points of my life and hardly a day goes by without thinking of my next visit, will have to definitely look Pete up on that one. All the best in the new year, I’ll always be watching!👍
Hi mate sorry for the late response. Thanks for all the support. I still can’t believe that you were actually here and it was a long while ago now. Yes we will definitely have to involve Pete. I’m going to try and get a cheap flight up and see him for a weekend. There’s plenty more to come this year
@@stevesplacedownunder Not to worry about how quick to respond, you are a lot busier than me. If you do plan a quick trip to see Pete and if I had a couple month lead time I would try to arrange a trip then also, if that would be ok. I think that would be great fun. I have been checking and lately tickets can be had for less than when I visited you. Currently Chicago to Cairns round trip for $1085.
Happy New year Steve to you and the family mate looking forward to 2025 and seeing more stuff being rescued and got running and driving hope you keep going in 2025 mate that old truck she's unbelievable started after all those years
Thank you Keith and many happy returns. There’s plenty more to come. I just hope it grows so I can share it with more people. The more that watch, the less effort it seems to feel. Thanks again mate
Thank you Keith and many happy returns mate. There’s certainly plenty more to come, I hope more people find us so I can share it with more. All the best mate and thanks for your support
Happy new year. Its a pity you don't have enough time to do the old girl up. These old Brits were part of Australia years ago. Its a testament to these old Brits, the fact that you just rescue her from a field and she's all ready to go. I really hope somebody can look after her. Please don't worry about peoples negative comments, we have an expression for people like that here down under, don't we and we just laugh it off. Future, Detroit Diesels, the sounds of old trucks, very important I think, I like to hear! Just hearing the sounds of the gearbox in the old Austin is pure music to my ears. Just saying. Thanks for the video.
Hi mate, thanks for watching. I’d like someone to get hold of it and do it up but nobody seems to want it. I won’t scrap it now, will just leave it here and if one day the channel starts to get traction again I may do more with it. There’s plenty more truck content to come over the next year so keep an eye out for that. Thanks again mate
Steve, first of all congratulations on your marriage and your Birthday! I like watching your channel, along with Australian Armor something or other, Bruce in Aus... you guys are fun to watch because Australia appears to be a great place to live! I won't go into all that. I just recently discovered you, so I haven't seen much of your content, but you have come across like a regular guy, great sense of humor! Don't get down about the negative comments; those people are idiots, and that's being nice about it! Take your time, do what you need to do for now, but don't give up the ship! Characters like you are what lights up the internet, and it sounds like your problem is people aren't giving you enough thumbs up. That's what gets you across the board. I thumb up every episode of those I watch regular.
Hi mate.i apologise gf or the late reply. It takes a lot to answer the comments and I like to answer each one. Thank you for your wishes, it’s really nice of you. Australia is a great place to live, although at the moment it’s very expensive. Yes I’m not sure why we aren’t being discovered, certainly not through lack of trying. My views are way down to what I used to get also. But anyway I will keep going for a while and see where it takes us. I’m glad you like us and your appreciation goes a long way. It helps me to keep going. Thanks again mate and look forward to more comments from you 🙏
Happy New Year Marra.🍻 Another mint SPDU video is a great way to bring in the New Year. I reckon you'll hit 40k this year. The shoutouts shows you've got a mint bunch of fans so fuck the shit talkers. Best of luck for 25.👍🏻
Many happy returns mate. It’s certainly a hard slog but not through lack of trying. I have a great community mate and couldn’t be happier with that side of it. Thanks as always 🤣🤣🙏🥳🥳
Gday Steve, all the best for 2025, I’m amazed how well the Austin preformed, growing a channel isn’t easy and sometimes you wonder why, all it takes is that one video to turn things around I think, I know mine has slowed big time since I’m not doing weekly uploads anymore, great episode mate, cheers
Hi Matty. Sorry for late reply mate. Had a big few days here. Many happy returns to you also. I’m very happy how the old Austin went. Hopefully I will get to use it again. Yes it’s certainly hard with a channel. It’s too hard to put one out on a consistent scale. My wife does all that side of it and now the children are getting older and have more on, she has less time to edit. It is what it is mate. All the best and talk soon
Great stuff, Steve. Thank you for the work you put into these videos. I enjoy each and every one. Keep it up, and I wish you and your family a healthy and happy 2025. John. From Sydney
Hey up mate was super nice to see this come up, old Austin did good needs to live rest of life on a property doing useful stuff probably includes kids learning to drive, can't wish you new year as still hour to go but hope yours was a goodun, enjoyed havin a beer with a couple of rums listening to your shed chat
Hi John sorry for late reply. I hope it does mate. If nobody wants it I will use it again one day I’m sure. I’m glad you liked the chat and happy new year to you now mate. Thanks for all your support
Steve, I appreciate all your videos. I only wish you and your family good health and success in life. No matter what you always have a friend in Connecticut Happy new year. Jim
Hi Jim sorry for the late reply mate. These are nice words and very much appreciated. I wish you all the best too mate. You will always have a friend here in Sydney too, all the best Jim
Carden shaft parking brake, wow thats a step into the past, Love the old Austins and their ilk Drove them decades ago, old K wobbles are just that and plentiful, brakes on laden pommy trucks were only ever a suggestion thats why theres a gearbox, keep it and work it. Big money channels are basically all the same, yours, Marty T, and a couple of others are more real, and not 'produced'
Hi mate. Yes they were underpowered and no brakes but they built this country. Yes the highly produced channels seem to have all the views. I don’t know why I can’t grow. It’s proven that it doesn’t have to be high quality and properly produced.
Awesome evening brother from another country down under happy new year yall !!!!!! Brother yall are awesome pray yall have an awesome new year and may blessings overflow for yall brother you have earned many people's respect because you are preserving history brother
Ngreat to see her get one last go .hope someone af least wants the running gear lol.geez the forklift reminded me of a lees forklift i drove at a wrecker i worked for ,it was as dodgy as hell ,ram leaks no brakes ,forks went down slow if up in air ,was scarey as had to chock up the car on top so i didnt get squished lol.the old merc on the trailer i learnt to drive a truck in one loved it
Please stay strong brother 🙏🏾 new year new adventures 🙏🏾 💪 yall are awesome say hi to everyone for me happy belated merry Christmas !!!! I will see yall next year 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 brother from another country down under
Hi Mark. I’m sorry I didn’t mention you mate, as I reply to people I keep seeing names pop up that have donated stuff, and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed, just too many of you generous people. All the very best to you and the family too mate and yes hopefully it is better.
Keep up the good work Steve, love your channel, & have another wet sandwich, he he, could be why some of those yank channels do well, is maybe how they edit there videos,? Don't know, but hopefully the drone might help your channel out. All the best from NZ truckers.
Hi Ken thanks for the comment. I had a few brown sandwiches over the Christmas period mate but not as many as I thought I would. I don’t know how they edit their videos? I think they are that advanced that they have a team of professionals behind them doing it all and promoting them. See how we go this year. Thanks again mate and many happy returns to you too🙏
I’m not sure if I thanked you for this mate, I thought I did but it’s still here as I reply to comments. It’s amazing and very much appreciated so thank you again if I didn’t send it before. Great stuff mate
No I don’t think I would restore it. The reason being that it’s original how it is and only original once. I’d like to do a bit to it to get it on the road but would leave the overall look of it
Think she has proven she wants to live on did everything from start up to hoist going up to a short drive Some one down there need to save HER as getting it transported would kill a bloke Cheers from up North

@oldamericaniron5767 Yup, seen ya on Steve's channel Geoffrey. I've watched some of your vids too. Cheers Buddy! p.s. I'm in Clarkston ... 👊😎👍
Nice to see it drive, I would imagine it had quite a "Thirst" back in the day? but I suppose Petrol wasn't quite as expensive as it is today? Cheers Fellow have a great 2025.
I would say so yes but as you say it was cheap and plentiful in those days. All the best to you too mate
Thank you mate. Happy new year to you too
Having the tank under the tray and having it all in one sounds like a very pommy thing they do.
It sounds cheap enough. It would have to be planned obviously but certainly could be arranged
@ Have you talked to Pete about going to visit him?
We talk about it all the time mate, it just hasn’t happened yet
Another great video steve thanx again for all the work you put into making them 👍🏻
Thank you mate. Your support is very much welcomed. Happy new year to you and there plenty to come this year
Happy New year Steve to you and the family mate looking forward to 2025 and seeing more stuff being rescued and got running and driving hope you keep going in 2025 mate that old truck she's unbelievable started after all those years
Thank you Keith and many happy returns.
The tipper style is very similar to the Isuzu, hino and Mitsubishi imported tippers. Nice.
Thanks again mate and look forward to more comments from you 🙏
Well dun mate proud of hope keep going I enjoy watching your videos
Hi mate thank you. We will be for a while yet and see what happens
Happy New Year Marra.🍻
Another mint SPDU video is a great way to bring in the New Year.
Had one back in nz used it as fire wood truck used run hot still did the job had the old girl for 4 years
Hi mate. I’m sure it was a great truck and done a good job.
hi steve i restore old Honda Fours , just love what you do with old mechines Keep up the good work
Hi mate. That’s good too. You don’t see a lot of those around anymore so well done in keeping them alive. I’m glad you like what we do.
Thanks Steve , all content is awesome , Evan if you took a dump on a log and we’d still watch 🙏
Hi mate. Thank you for your support. I actually planned on doing just that to see how many would click on it🤣🤣🤣
@
🤣🤣 mate I’d be the first to click on that shit haha!!!
Great video as always mate 👍👍👍
Thank you mate
Great stuff, Steve. Thank you for the work you put into these videos. I enjoy each and every one. Keep it up, and I wish you and your family a healthy and happy 2025. John. From Sydney

Hi John sorry for late reply. I hope it does mate. If nobody wants it I will use it again one day I’m sure.
I’m glad you liked the chat and happy new year to you now mate. Thanks for all your support
@@stevesplacedownunder happy new year mate keep the channel striving forward xx
That’s when they made stuff to last great old truck …happy new year …
Thank you mate and many happy returns
Happy New Year Steve, keep up the great videos plus keep showing the "drink" happenings.
Many happy returns mate and thank you
Good luck for 2025 Steve, hope the channel and its good content continue to thrive 🙂
Thank you Denis and many happy returns mate. I hope it does too
Hi Steve as always 👍 looking forward to more great content mate thanks
Hi Nick thanks for your ongoing support mate. Always welcomed
Steve just wondering the old Albion white cab red tipper on the trailer looks like my father in laws old truck he was from Wollongong!
Hi Paul. I had a bloke donate it to me from down at Bomaderry so it could possibly be it. Not sure where he got it from
Cheers mate
My pleasure mate thank you 🙏
Steve, I appreciate all your videos.
Hi Robert happy new year to you also brother
Ngreat to see her get one last go .hope someone af least wants the running gear lol.geez the forklift reminded me of a lees forklift i drove at a wrecker i worked for ,it was as dodgy as hell ,ram leaks no brakes ,forks went down slow if up in air ,was scarey as had to chock up the car on top so i didnt get squished lol.the old merc on the trailer i learnt to drive a truck in one loved it
I hope so too mate.
The forklift sounds like she was rough. This one isn’t too bad
Happy New Year Steve and co! All the best from down south, cheers Evo.
Hi arvo. Many happy returns to you too mate. Thanks for your support throughout the year

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family Steve. Let’s hope this one is better than the last mate. 🎉
Hi Mark. I’m sorry I didn’t mention you mate, as I reply to people I keep seeing names pop up that have donated stuff, and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed, just too many of you generous people. All the very best to you and the family too mate and yes hopefully it is better.
Happy New Year Steve. The old Austin runs like a clock. Hopefully someone wants it. Thanks for an awesome year of videos. m
Marc
Hi Marc. Thanks for your support mate and plenty more too come this year
Happy New Year to you Steve and Family all the best for 2025
Hi mate thank you and many happy returns to you all also 🙏
Keep up the good work Steve, love your channel, & have another wet sandwich, he he, could be why some of those yank channels do well, is maybe how they edit there videos,? Don't know, but hopefully the drone might help your channel out. All the best from NZ truckers.
Hi Ken thanks for the comment. I had a few brown sandwiches over the Christmas period mate but not as many as I thought I would.
I don’t know how they edit their videos? I think they are that advanced that they have a team of professionals behind them doing it all and promoting them. See how we go this year. Thanks again mate and many happy returns to you too🙏
Keep up the great work mate n xmas to your hole family mate
Thank you Paul and many happy returns mate. Thanks for your support
Trying to figure out what Austin this is. I've only ever seen them with single headlights.
Hi steve happy new year you got to pick your battles . Cheers mate
Hi Peter thank you mate. All the best to you too

Happy new year to you and your family, hope the Austin finds a new home.👍👍
Thank you Marc. Many happy returns mate
happy new year to you and your family
Hi mate thank you and many happy returns 🙏
Vehicle manufacturer's never solder wiring they only use crimp joints
I do when I repair them. That is what I meant. But yes you are right, but they are better quality than the rubbish in these assortment kits
Why scrap it seems less rusty than some of your other project, is it just not a diesel or not keen on it?
It’s the worst thing here apart from an old Volvo I have. Cab is completely shot. Rusted right out.
Make that $100
I’m not sure if I thanked you for this mate, I thought I did but it’s still here as I reply to comments. It’s amazing and very much appreciated so thank you again if I didn’t send it before. Great stuff mate
Was that Austin a positive earth or had it been changed by the time that model came out.
I’m not sure but was negative earth when I got to it
Didnt mean to thumbs down it the bloody screen protector on my phone is causing some havoc 😂 happy new year mate.
It doesn’t matter mate, one more won’t hurt I’m sure🤣🤣🤣
@ 😂 you through that grease yet, got a setup for
You.
@ no mate. I’ve used a few cartridges but that’s all
Hey Steve, can you please do a collab with these other UA-camrs: BruceinAus and Busgreasemonkey
Would be great exposure.
I hope BruceInAus is okay as we haven't heard from him in a while. I know he had COVID a while back so here's hoping he's okay.
I actually emailed Bruce because we used to talk on the phone but he went quiet. I emailed him 2 days ago to see if he is okay
What about the albion? Would U restore her?
No I don’t think I would restore it. The reason being that it’s original how it is and only original once. I’d like to do a bit to it to get it on the road but would leave the overall look of it
Think she has proven she wants to live on did everything from start up to hoist going up to a short drive
Some one down there need to save HER as getting it transported would kill a bloke
Cheers from up North
Yes she has proven herself. I hope it gets saved. If not I may use it again at some stage. All the best mate
Ol girl keeping ya off vegimite Steve?
Certainly mate🤣🤣
