hi @HETPEZB at the 23:00 minute mark when you enter the hours 56.36 Hours, you put 56.36 Hours, when it should've been 56 Hours, and filled in 36 in the "Tenths of an Hour" box; which is why it read 5636.0 HR during the HOURMETER reading at the 23:28 minute mark. Just FYI.

It bugs me how easy the professionals make work like this look but when you go to attempt your best with a confident mindset you end up with a swear jar full of cash. Thanks for the video. I may or may not attempt to modify my cluster. Definitely the led lights and new display but I might pass on programing anything with a computer. I can barely program a baofeng radio

How did you do the needles so quickly? Everything I've seen they say you have to use tape and mark where all the needles are then pull them off and put back in the same spot or it wont be accurate

Most professional cluster repair video I've seen, great job. I wish I would have seen this before I changed my stepper motors, I noticed a little corrosion and didn't think about cleaning it. If I'm buying a new cluster can I add the transmission temp and hook it up to transmission later with a sensor into the transmission. It be null for the time being ?
You didn’t mention make/model/year, but if you are referring to the cluster in the video - those trucks already have the sensors in the transmissions.

The cluster needs to be reprogrammed, but the truck already have everything needed.
Do the silverados all have temp sensors built in from factory or do you have to add a sensor also to add a trans temp sensor to a 2005 silverado that didnt come from factory with a trans temp sensor

Sorry, can’t say anything about 02. Don’t work on those.
Others have found an 02 cluster with the gauge and then have someone transfer the mileage over. The gas 8.1 2500hd have them. So does the 1500 hd
the 02 are the same, the programming data is completely different so youll have to get that info from a "professional" the only differences in the years are the two lcds on the 03-06 and the programming. but the 03 and some 04s come pre programmed for trans.

Im adding tpms to a 2004 Chevy Silverado. I have everything that's needed for tpms already installed. The only problem is that I can't get to the tire pressures on the dic. Does the cluster need this programmed for it to work?
Sorry, can’t answer that question. I personally don’t know if the DIC on those trucks is capable of reflecting the actual pressure values or the only thing it can show is the yellow low pressure light.
Hey there, my 2005 Tahoe actually displays the pressures (ex. LF: 40psi) on the DIC. I don’t know if this helps any, just figured I’d chime in.
You need to change the passenger window switch to one with tps label on it. You need the tps sensors for each wheel. Unlock tpms in the cluster. Program the parameters for the tires. Hope it helps.
Amazing! How do you know which way to install the LEDs for correct polarity?
I went through few thousand of those clusters so I know the polarity of each backlight bulbs, but in general you van test it with a tester or simply use trial and error method.
How much is this. I have a 2000 chevy 1500. I want transmission temperature gauge and blue led light upgrade. My cluster flickers like you switching the key on and off real fast. I'm told it is typical for this year model.
I replaced only my speedometer motor. Everything seems to be working fine except I notice some of my different warning lights particularly the battery light stays on all the time now. It’s really faint but on. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Short on the board. Most likely oxidation.

How did you find a vin to write the milage with? My cluster went bad and I need to correct the mileage to my old one. My old one had a bad programming event and is completely dead so I can't rebuild it. I have access to sps but when I attempt to program it with my vin or a 2015 isuzu npr, it says its not a new cluster and cannot program.
SPS only updating the mileage if the cluster has 0 miles on it.

@@HETPEZB no worries I’m talking about the warning lights that illuminate when your vehicle has a problem like the orange check engine light and abs, the red battery and seat belt lights etc
@@TY3T from what ive found in the past i think youre looking for something like the 3528 leds. but you shouldnt have to change them cause they rarely go out and they dont come in other colors
How do you set zero for all gauges after you install the new trans temp gauge?

AC Delco GM website. They’ve been charging $45 per VIN back in the days. Not sure if the price is still the same. That’s if you are asking about the calibration software.

So when you programmed it through GM online with the correct vin wouldn’t that put it back to the program without trans temp.
Nope. Online servers doesn’t set the transmission gauge option. Just few other settings including steering wheel controls enable/disable.
at whattemp is your iron set for doing these repairs... i use 350-400 degrees...is that too hot?

I was told you need to add resistors to those style LED's I've got an 04 Chevy avalanche and ordered the same DIY kit am I being told the wrong thing?
There are a lot of similar looking but different specs LEDs. So you may encounter LEDs that required to add the resistors.

06 silverado needs all addressed in this video but want blue lighting throughout the dash and column. It's my dailyso I'd do like overnight both ways . Steering wheel lights hvac , instrument cluster, 4dr switches essentially all of it. I'd need it all back asap. Everything works both hvac lights are gone, dash is scrolling languages. So that should be part of the rebuild. Absolutely great video I'm sold
Just to add a lil bit more I also have a 04 Tahoe that needs the cluster reprogrammed to eliminate the service brake booster message, since it has hydroboost brakes I’m sure the cluster came from another vehicle. Can you do that also ?

I have this all done but need the bin file to flash the eeprom. I have a bin file for a 2500hd but it has no steering wheel controls, could you send email me the bin file for the eeprom that gives me the trans temp? it is an 03 with steering wheel controls, no Hydroboost, gas 5.3.

Eeprom has nothing to do with the steering wheel controls. Reflash is required to enable those.
