Just found out that my Macbook will not work on the software and I am looking to buy another computer. I love you recommendations and Costco. I am going there today. Thank you.
I bought a Dell Inspiron HDD for about $300 in 2020, and I swapped the HDD for a SDD. it runs Xm8 just fine. You don’t have to spend much to get started, Xm8 isn’t that hard on computers. Just avoid Chrome books. Avoid anything under $350 in todays market. But don’t feel like you need a $2000 gaming computer.
Nerdy, love it! Remember to also backup the files that you want to keep (if the Lenovo craps the bed) to a thumb drive or one of the cloud backups services, like one-drive or dropbox, etc. I use a two drive synology NAS which lets me back up locally or over the Internet using their client software.
Good video and just in time. I'm about to purchase a new laptop specifically for running XM8. I'm a little surprised you didn't update your website's "Gear" list with this video. It's a tad old. ;)
U mentioned 16 ram’s as a requirement for xactimate, so does that mean that a laptop with 16 rams won’t be able to have space for other apps/programs, like is it taking up the whole 16 or just apart of it?
I use a surface pro 9 with i7, it’s a two in one so it’s perfect for this line of work. It runs windows os native so you don’t need any funny tricks to run Xactimate.
I’m looking at this setup as well. Did you get the 16gb or 32gb ram? I know the min specs is 16 but something is telling me I should fork out the extra money for the 32gb option.

Great info. Thanks Matt!
