There is a really simple defense to this move. However, you can not defend this move if you are holding a single leg the way this guy is. If you are holding a single leg with their leg resting in the crook of your rt elbow and your fist being held balled up to the front of your chest so you have that leg tight, all you have to do is lower your level when they go to flip... They will face plant and or pin themselves.

Not that easy, and they probably wouldn’t go for the move

This dude can't even stand there with his leg stretched out. Teach the kids the basics. Real coaches don't need bad habits taught to kids before they get their hands on them. You do not funk like that. Terrible.

@@zerotwo6707 I would agree that top level wrestlers do use this move. However, this is not a Go to Technique, this is a "know it and have it in my back pocket for a rainy day" Technique. Solid Fundamental wrestling Destroys Funk Wrestling more often than not. When you wrestle in college pretty much everyone knows the same moves, you fall back and rely on your fundamental skill set, your fundamentals should be looked at like the foundation of a house. Bad foundation nothing else will hold up when tested... Ben Askren is not "the exception to this rule" He had solid fundamental Technique, which you have to have... Why? Funk technique is a lot of times high risk high reward ergo is often times met with simple counters and Funk wrestlers getting Caught. pinned a funk wrestler in my semi finals match at my conference tournament, before the pin, caught him trying to use this technique, lowered levels got 2 takedown 2 near fall. later in the match he went for an alligator roll, another funk move, that was his last move cause i countered and shifted sticking him to his back for the pin... A big problem for developing wrestlers in today's day and age are Highlight reels... Why : because they see funky exciting technique work, what they don't see is the hail Mary high risk maneuver failing more often than not.

@@JamesClark-bj6fb This is a go to move. Guys have to long kick the foot out know. if you try to step in and trip you'll get funk rolled all day long. This move is changing folkstyle. I did the Abbas roll on high crotches 20 years ago but just saw how you do it on doubles and now the funk roll on singles make it hard to shoot on a top lvl funkster.

@@stango141 I understand funk wrestling has made a popular surge into the scene, funk looses to solid fundamentals 9 out of 10 times. Ultimately everything comes down to how many reps I have in on my move vs how many reps do you have in on yours… who’s skill level at what they are implementing is higher… I stand by what I said and would a million times over. I don’t quite understand what you mean by “long kick the leg out”

@@jamesclark4939 When you get a single leg up in the armpit, you need to keep as much distance as possible. Guys are moving the guys and kicking the ankle of the other guy out. It is because all the top D1 guys will funk roll you if you try to do a step in trip. Funk roll is a fundamental part of folkstyle now. You will need to train it like sprawling. ua-cam.com/video/uORanSvGpAE/v-deo.html basically what Kolat does but even more extreme that you keep max distance.
