I learned of Chef Jack’s passing away a few days ago, I have sat for hours pouring over his videos, admiring his compassion for cooking the most simple foods with his personal twist. Ive been cooking for over 40 years now and always learn something about food every time I watch him. Chef, Rest In Peace Sir, hopefully your videos will remain on youtube for decades to come so people can learn from your knowledge. Your ease of moving about the kitchen, the calmness you displayed, never getting upset if you browned something too much, it was awesome. God Bless your family Sir, the World lost a gentle giant.
That´s so sad. I´m heartbroken because I was coming to visit him from Scandinavia when Covid passport was ok. Bless him and may he find harmony and peace.
This popped up and brought a tear to my eyes. I miss this man so much. Haven't seen a vid for a while. Much love Girls. Thank you for keeping his content alive. I wanted so bad to come out there and eat his food, maybe meet the King. RIP my brother.
What made this man even greater was his emphasis on not wasting anything. Any scrap or leftover that could be used for something he would do it. Not only did he cook food with passion and his good natured personality to bring a smile to those around around him and warm their hearts, he did not take food for granted. RIP big guy.
So many vids he always had a stock pot on simmer in the back. His homemade stocks were soooo dark and looked so flavorful. Onion skins. Pepper tops. Bones. So great.
i think the best thing about daddy Jack is the smooth timing and relaxed nature of his cooking and his general aura is very chilled and epic good vibes
"Good" humans is an oxymoron. Humanity is like a virus. But this dish is like something they used to make in south Louisiana...hahaha no Irish cheese though they were way to poor for that 😆
I love rewatching Jack's videos. I've tried many of his recipes, and they are always awesome. RIP, big guy. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with the world.
I moved over a thousand miles from home but watching those close zooms from the Stop & Shop pepper to the wide shots with the winter snow light flooding the back...man...makes me miss home. Daddy Jack forever.
My condolences to Jack's family. I stumbled upon Jack's channel around the start of the pandemic. Something made me gravitate toward binge watching his videos; I think it was how he reminded me of my own father. Had a personality that made you want to be around him, shared everything with loved ones, and had a friend everywhere he went. My father loved making breakfast as well, but my mother hated him in the kitchen because it just meant a mess hah. My father passed away in April of 2022 and watching these videos just makes me think of him and everything he gave. Maybe they're exchanging recipes in heaven.
Man I miss Jack. I was going to go see him on Bank St this summer too. So glad to have these great videos he made and can watch over and over. Lakesha, you must miss him lots. What a great man he was. All the best to you and his family.
Yeah but honestly eating like this and being so obese at that age because eating like this, I honestly wasn’t surprised at all to read this here. Dude looks extremely unhealthy, twice the size he should be, his eyes look grey and you can hear him breath loud as hell. If he had a healthy lifestyle he would probably be with us for another ten years
This is impossible not to like, Daddy Jack! I love Laquisha's camera work replete with necessary banter, as well. Y'all are making me really hungry and I'm supposed to be going to bed lol

Those school lunch stories were great and brought back a lot of memories , Thanks Jack . My Mom would give me enough food to feed two of us on any given day .
I just got a glimpse of that ham bone, and immediately got jealous! That Ham-bone will make the most beautiful and delicious soup anyone could imagine. I would make split-pea soup with it!
I like the idea of making the French toast for your eggs and ham. The eggs look perfect the way I like them. My mother used to make me when I was a kid regular toast and ham with a soft boiled egg so this brings back memories. Great cooking
Me too as a 365 day a year single dad I concur nothing should be wasted in the kitchen. Wish I could have met this guy. Love to his family and friends from the UK. Going to cook this for my kid this holidays.
Hello Lakisha ... I'm sorry if I didn't spell your name correctly ... I am visiting Cooking With The Blues to see Daddy Jack and pay my respect ... I was watching Old School Soul food with Chef Jeffrey and he dedicated an episode to Jack because he was so saddened with Jack recently passing away. I am sorry for your loss .. thank you for bringing Daddy Jack to the world ... I'm sorry I missed him, but I am thankful he leaves behind a legacy of delicious recipes. God Bless you dear and prayers for you to be strong and joyful in what you did get to share with Daddy Jack xoxo
One of the best videos I have ever seen. You guys are real and the food is great and homey. Dog adds a great element. Friendly folks and good food. Greetings from south Texas.

Just for your information, Le Cruset is pronounced Le - Cruise - ay. Very expensive, professional iron ware and lovely to use. Company was founded in 1925, Fresnoy-le-Grand, France. Hope that helps. Nice recipe.
So gutted to read that Jack isn't with us anymore... was getting more and more into these videos... He's brought us so many enjoyable videos, tips, and style in his cooking...Such a cool a guy. Prob a depression era thing he learned from his mother…my grandmother was same way
