No pins because I didn't have any and didn't want to go back to the store. This small of a bed it's just not necessary as the mulch will hold it down. 🤷♂️👊
I can see why people get frustrated putting there work on youtube. A bunch of people without the courage to do so themselves feel the need to critique and judge what they are watching. Thanks for content Brian!
It's not criticising and judging. Yes the result looks nice but if there are all positive comments how would anybody learn? The viewers are just going to follow in his mistakes. The organic matter cannot get down into the soil to feed the soil microorganisms. If he removes the if he removes the weed killing membrane after a year or so it would have done its job and then he could just top up with organic matter yearly and have healthy soil and plants.
I've always laid my landscaping fabric down and secured it with landscaping staples, then cut X's where my plants were supposed to go and fold back the material. That way when my plant when in, I could tuck the fabric around the base and try to keep as many weeds out as possible.
Hello all! Thanks TOPNOTCH for your efforts in putting this video together for our enjoyment, education and encouragement. Im grateful! What's the material use that you put the mulch on top of and whats it called? Thanks in advance Rock rock on!!!
Put the weed prove down first then do a X cut fold the fabric dig the hole plant ur shrub and fold back out the fabric you can cut a color to go around the shrub for extra weed protection
What about the cuts to get around the plants to the wall? What's the best way to prevent weeds sneaking through those cuts??? It might seem insignificant but it happened in my wife's garden and it's become an ever loving pain in my @*#^#%^#!! Lol!! But really should a person cut a 6" strip and place it over each cut to prevent weeds forever? Thank you my friend. Great video!!
Looks really great man, have you ever thought about putting down the fabric then doing circles or squares cutting them putting the extra under the tarp and putting the wheel barrel.
I usually so it that was but since the ground was really muddy I figured the cleanup would be harder and since it was just a small area I did it this way instead.
Weed barrier fabric becomes a nightmare after a while. Weed seeds land on top and weeds grow anyways, and since their roots grow down into the fabric they become harder to remove
Landscape fabric does not belong under mulch. The mulch breaks down and creates a organic layer on top of the fabric. Essentially making the fabric worthless. Long term a non fabric mulched bed is easier to maintain
Absolutely agree and was about to say the same thing. Guys around here do it all the time and your just wasting the customers money by putting it down under mulch. Use a good quality mulch and you will be good to go.
Rubber mulch is better. Real mulch just breaks down and becomes a food source for pest. As a pest control guy I tell my customers all the time steer away from mulch and straw.
Waste of money on fabric. That mulch will decompose and just form another layer of dirt for weeds to grow on top of the fabric. I tell all my clients it's easier to maintain a fabric-less mulched bed long term. Was taught 20 years ago, no rock, no fabric.
No pins because I didn't have any and didn't want to go back to the store. This small of a bed it's just not necessary as the mulch will hold it down. 🤷♂️👊
I was about to ask about that a good wind storm and it’s all gone.
Doubt that. Lol
Nah ive put down loads of these without pins, it will stay put fine.
...until the squirrels, etc dig it up. If they do maybe adding some ornamental rocks will help keep it in place.
Mine never stays without pins
Thanks for making this! I'm doing a flower bed tomorrow for the first time, and this was a really good video covering the process.

Well said!
My thoughts exactly!

This is the video that I've been looking for to redo my flower bed, I plan to replace my shrubs for better quality ones. Great job.
I like it! Simple and effective. I enjoyed the hyper speed
Awesome, thank you!
The shrubs look really nice in this front garden and the mulch sets it off even more. Great job! God bless❤️
Man I would’ve been trying to cut holes to slide over the shrubs, leaving spaces under them, thanks for learning me something lol
I've always laid my landscaping fabric down and secured it with landscaping staples, then cut X's where my plants were supposed to go and fold back the material. That way when my plant when in, I could tuck the fabric around the base and try to keep as many weeds out as possible.
Me too!!!!!!!
You made that look easy!
I know, right?!
You made the digging looking so easy, if only i could do the digging so fast, i would have had a beautiful garden 😅
Thanks for sharing your work
Thanks bro! really enjoyed the hyperspeed. My brain loved this!
You are the master.Hope the homeowners maintain them.
Savage as always. Great, quick renovation!
So glad I found this one
Thank you so much, this helps a lot with my front yard project!
So nice love it I will do the same thing but with roses, thank you
Great video Brian looks awesome Brian, like landscaping make ugly stuff look beautiful!
omg love the speed and the sound effects. lol
Thanks for posting! I think I can do it 👍🏽
Looks like you could use a tiller in that bed. Rock solid, but such a difference. Curb appeal is everything.
Looks good. You're giving me ideas and motivation!
👍👍
My back hurts now..... Great job!

Looked great! Especially with the sidewalk you did.
Thank you! Cheers!
Love this makeover
The sounds are hilarious 😆

i loved this .can you show how they have become a year after .I was wondering if they might grow out of proportion(i m a beginner sorry!)
Great job 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You are right Fitz, That stuff will be all gone and the plastic will be rolled up.
Nice job
Dang speedy! When you going to come do mine. I got them Biden bucks waiting for you.
LOL, anytime
Good job!!
Looks good!
What is the difference between landscape fabric and weed control fabric?
Just did that today. No planting though. Still looks good.
Thanks
You sure do work fast looking good 👀👀👀👊👊👊
That's the way we do it.
You are like my college professor
Put the weed prove down first then do a X cut fold the fabric dig the hole plant ur shrub and fold back out the fabric you can cut a color to go around the shrub for extra weed protection
Do you take out any preexisting lawn fabric during your clean up?
Darn, what can’t you do outside? Not to mention that you make everything look so easy!
It looks better.
Literally no speaking and it’s a 100x simpler video than the others
What about the cuts to get around the plants to the wall? What's the best way to prevent weeds sneaking through those cuts??? It might seem insignificant but it happened in my wife's garden and it's become an ever loving pain in my @*#^#%^#!! Lol!!

What is your take on rubber mulch?
Looks really great man, have you ever thought about putting down the fabric then doing circles or squares cutting them putting the extra under the tarp and putting the wheel barrel.
I usually so it that was but since the ground was really muddy I figured the cleanup would be harder and since it was just a small area I did it this way instead.
I always cut x's into mine and fold back the triangles until I get the plants in, then tuck them back around the base of the plant.
How much did you charge for this job?
Nice. What did you do with the material you removed?
Had some low spots in the yard. I'll be redoing the yard anyway so just filled in some spots.
I never use weed fabric. It doesn't work. The weeds grows overtime on top of the mulch.
Is there any benefit in whether you choose pine needles or mulch? I'm working on my flowers beds and trying to decide which I should use.
Weed barrier fabric becomes a nightmare after a while. Weed seeds land on top and weeds grow anyways, and since their roots grow down into the fabric they become harder to remove
Weird question I know but what brand pants are you wearing look good for mowing season
Wranglers
You want healthy boxwood, no weed berrier needed.
Nice video why no pins tho?
Didn't have any in the shop so no pins. 🤷♂️
Nice job but you're supposed to put the fabric down before you put the plants in. After you dig the holes
I bet you back was killing after this bc it killing mine watching you do this and Dreading have to do my lawn
💛💛
No landscaping stakes bubba?
Nah, I usually do but didn't have any at the house.
Yeah I go through my 500 box from site one faster than I always think I will lol
First Aussie 😁
My man.
Landscape fabric does not belong under mulch. The mulch breaks down and creates a organic layer on top of the fabric. Essentially making the fabric worthless. Long term a non fabric mulched bed is easier to maintain
luckily for me it will be easy to pull out since I didn't use any pins if needed.
Absolutely agree and was about to say the same thing. Guys around here do it all the time and your just wasting the customers money by putting it down under mulch. Use a good quality mulch and you will be good to go.
@@griffinsgroundkeepingllc1805 what about rubber mulch?
Rubber mulch is better. Real mulch just breaks down and becomes a food source for pest. As a pest control guy I tell my customers all the time steer away from mulch and straw.
What is that fabric for?
You should have used the pins to hold the paper down
Prob so but I didn't have any at the house so It is what it is. LOL
Rápido y furioso amigó
don't tell me let me guess, heavy clay with sand?
pretty much
Very nice. You still have your helper available? He looked like a good worker.
I put up with most of your comments about me and my work but you will not be allowed to talk about my employees.
If we could work as fast as your video.........lol

I put fabric then rubber mulch looks just like real mulch it’s been over a year looks new still and no weeds
Some say fabric is not needed and I agree but you have to think business.
I agree also but I had some so figured I would use it. Plus, since I didn't pin it I can easily just pull it out if I want.
The flower bed was looking good but you cheap out on putting the nails on the sheet
Not a big deal. Mulch will hold it down
STOP putting fabric or plastic under decomposing material. That is moronic at best.
Nice job
