- Yo so like I wanted to cover this song, first in 2A03 but that sounded bad so I tried Gameboy but ehhhhh
So then I chose to go with N163 and get a sweet lowpass bass that takes up most of the wave space so that's cool Brother HH
oh yeah NSF here: www.dropbox.com/s/gb1mk579dhg...
This is by far the most genuine remake of one of my songs... I seriously applaud you for this remake!
I’m glad you think so! I aimed for accuracy on all parts except for the drums, which I went ahead and improvised on.
Oh damn its the real Jeoren Tel! Thanks for your contributions as being one of the pioneers of fantastic chiptune!
Mr. Tel, thanks for all the fantastic tunes you ever made. You never cease to amaze me. Anything you composed is pure gold. If my mom still had her childhood Commodore 64 today, I would be using it just to hear the musical genius that you are, making the SID chip sing loud and beautiful to my waiting ears. It's a shame she doesn't have the machine anymore, cause you make me want to have one, BIG TIME. Also, this song in particular to me, sounds like a badass 80s pop song, so what was the idea and inspiration that got you to come up with this masterpiece of a track?
AtomicMelodies yeah he's a frequent commenter on chiptune music, especially of his own.
It's almost impossible to answer your question in one simple answer. This particularly this song is not from the 80s but released on the biggest Commodore 64 only event in the Netherlands in 2004.
I got inspired by music since I was 0 years old, but in the 80s I got really inspired and started composing music on the Commodore 64. I must have spent 10.000's of hours getting good at it at the time and did my first video game soundtrack at age 14... many at 15... even more at 16... it was a vision and still is a (music) mission!
Thank you so much for your kind compliments!
That sweet mix of the 2A03 and SID sounds
@@soundspark yes
What if there's an alternative world out there where VinylCheese has made a bad song
AtomicMelodies If there is one, thank god we’re not in it.
If he made *A* bad song, easily forgivable...
If he made bad songs altogether.... oh.... oh f???.... I'd just not listen to him...
@Albert Wellerich von Schallenberg im Emmental easier than you might suspect, judging from the covers I've seen on this site
I remember this comment being:
"What if there's an alternative world out there where Jeroen Tel has made a bad song
"
kinda weird
That Doesn't Exist
dat lowpass bass
*How* did I not comment on this before ?! This is the remix that made me discover the original and in listening to that I had completely forgotten about it and how *amazing* it is. The emulation of the source sound is astounding, but aside from the delicious compliments of the lead and accompanying tracks, you found a way to make it all even harder with this new, fantastically energetic drum line. You're one of the best users of FamiTracker I've ever seen. You're wonderful, man, you're wonderful.
Hi you :p
@@supmattboy Heyyyyyy.
Awesome arrangement mate, there's so much detail and care that's gone into this, and it really pays off!
sweet jesus, a new video, and its jeroen tel as well
So you not only recreated the PWM, but also the Lowpass bass?!
bro is a madlad
Oh my god this is insane. Really really impressive work.
This just made my day. Nice job man!
yo yo danke
What an absolute unit!
Fantastic! This song owns bones, first heard it on the 8BP050 comp and still adore it!
thoank
that bassline is too fucking good for this world, seriously killer job on this my man
Man, another great, perfectly accurate Namco 163 cover of a Commodore 64 track!
Excellent conversión. Cons mate!
Genius
the drums sound so good in this
I can't get this cover out of my head get it out GET IT OOUUUTTTT
I like these songs..it's like I'm reliving the 1620s and the first Thanksgiving in Middle Earth when they dropped the turkey on the ground... (Thursday November 25, 1621)
Once again.. WAUW!
I think Mr. Tel is gonna love this great job you did.
he did

=D
Y e s
why am i flyin
o yea wahoo low pass bas with noise so awesome woohoo
Classic PWM
How did you used Gameboy? (Which program to use it)
I sincerely thought this was a joke at first.
HOW? THIS SOUNDS LIKE A COMMODORE 64
I didn't know u could get a C64 sound from the N163 chip
yea man it’s hard to do filters on low wave sizes so for the bass i used a long length wave so all the frequencies could fit in
the other two channels are simple pwm
VinylCheese i noticed that the VRC6 has some similar duty cycles, but it is missing too many
Yep, vrc6 has 8 duty cycles, but a 32-bit n163 wave can make 16 unique duty cycles.
You can emulate a lot of cool stuff on the N163 with a bit of analysis and the willingness to draw in the wavetables. Filters, wave morphs, sync effects, you can even use the aliasing it generates on high pitches to make ringmod-style effects. Fantastic cover, by the way!
Yeah, there's plenty of Namco 163 covers of Commodore 64 tunes that are perfectly accurate to the original SID ones. There's a few VRC6 covers of C64 tunes that are also pretty accurate.
This took 6 channels and jeroen only did it with 3. Damn the Sid chip is good.
Not tryna say the song is bad I’m just saying that the Sid chip is a bit better.
Can we get the module?
well i decided to put up the nsf, for the first time in centuries
I'll take it!
Ah, my plan was to use the NSF import, but it is based on an earlier build of Famitracker that does not have the N163 sound expansion. I want to use your instruments to experiment with C64-like songs!
Module is too powerful
Barely distinguishable from original.
