Macclesfield Town v Oxford United 2003-04

United's play-off hopes were ended in farcical fashion with a 2-1 defeat in Cheshire. The U's were their own worst enemies, scoring a pair of own goals to beat themselves. First, Jon Ashton headed into his own net from a Paul Harsley Corner. James Hunt levelled but Oxford's reprieve was only temporary and eight minutes later their humiliation was complete as Jefferson Louis scored a second own goal. The win secured Macclesfield's Football League place for another year, but left Oxford four points behind the play-offs with only one game remaining.
