I watch your videos frequently, to learn or refresh hymns to sing at my church. Your playing is beautiful. You really make the guitar sing. Your vocals are also beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gift!
Absolutely the best rendition of this beautiful song I've heard thus far. No extra flourishes in the voice or guitar, just honest, compassionate, clear beautiful singing/praise. Nice job, Chris. The words are out of this world. GBY
It's so much fun watching someone play guitar while singing without struggling with the fingers. "I'll know my song well before I start singing." Of course, that's no way to compose. Well, maybe it is: you just don't know you know it until you hear yourself singing a new song.
Wonderful words of St Paul! (Thanks, Chris Brunelle for your lovely and accurate renditions of all these church songs, so that choristers might learn them aright.)
So beautiful and well done Chris!! We are singing this today on the 5th Sunday of Lent. I was happy to find your recording of it to review and practice with along with the Responsorial and Acclamation for today's Mass. Thanks again for helping this musically challenged cantor through another week!! I find some of these quite difficult, since I can't read music!!
Start with one note, then go to the next. Like: FACE are the spaces, Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge are the lines, the set of them is the staff, the E is the top and bottom strings of the guitar. F is the bottom space and top line in the staff. C is the key of the staff, C is the note on a keyboard to the left of the pair of black keys. The white keys up from there make the C scale, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C. The black key to the right of C is C#, which is also called D flat, since it is also a half step down from D. Adjacent keys regardless of color are all half steps apart. If you make the third note in the C scale an E flat, you turn the major scale into a minor scale. Hear the difference in mood.
Chris Brunelle for sure! You played this like you'd been doing it forever. Love it. We use for communion 2 now and then and this year we used it on Good Friday, too, during veneration. This song and Prayer of Abandonment are two that just speak to the heart anytime, but especially at the end of Lent! ❤
It amazes me that there are wonderful songs in the music issue that have been there for years and I am just now discovering them! Then again, the other day someone told me they were learning David Haas' "You Are Mine" FOR THE FIRST TIME? That's like not knowing "On Eagle's Wings". :-)
Aloha Chris! I love all your videos. Thanks for this angle, I can clearly see the chords. We do have a subscription with OCP for our church songs but seeing how you play and change chords is very helpful. You are God's blessing to everybody.

Yes !!
I like this song
I haven't heard this sung at mass for a long time, but for some reason I can't get it out of my head lately.

Playing Sat night at 4:30 mass. Fourth Sunday of Lent (B). Always look you up Chris as I practice. Starting mass with Lift High the Cross!

Thanks! It's one of the blessings of doing this youtube stuff.....I never knew this song until I recorded it, and it's been in the book for years!
I wish I could sing like this, but his singing makes me feel this to the point of being willing to be nailed to a cross, so that is effective singing

I too look for Chris renditions as I play my Ukulele@Mass, here @St.Theresas Kekaha, Kaua'I Hawaii.
Oh, Chris, this is one of my very favorites. I hope even more people will be blessed by it now that you have recorded it here.
That's so funny....I didn't even know the song until someone asked me to record it! I really think I'll start using it now!

Thank you! That's exactly why I record them that way....so you can see what I'm doing with both of my hands. God bless you and your parish
Wish I could play and sing that oh well
You got a hold of this one, didn't you!
Why are some of your videos in black and white?
Because five years ago when I uploaded this one I thought that was clever lol
I don't do that anymore
Beautiful!
