    How do you think the covenant would do? I think they definitely have the tech to compete but their biggest issue would be numbers.

      They'd be good enough to give a lot of people black eyes but they definitely need to let all their troops especially the grunts breed like crazy

      The only thing that I can think of as an energy Shield in Warhammer 40K is a refraction field it's like a weird necklace type thing you'll have to do more research on your own cuz I don't know much about it

      Mainly technology including plasma weapons are much more reliable and convenient. Covenant would be a threat but not a galactic threat but definitely more powerful then the tau.

    Of course they would fit in Warhammer 40K. In fact, The Tau is The Covenant of the Warhammer 40K universe.

      The Covenant Empires scale is what the Tau want to be when they grow up. But yes they are very similar.
      Except for the fact that the Covenant military is ran by apex predators who bully the Grunts around while fearing the Grunts sheer numbers.
      If the Grunts were smarter than a large dog that happened to be able to speak multiple languages. They would use their numbers to take over.

    • @the_oc_maniac8972
      @the_oc_maniac8972 Рік тому +9

      @John2r1 The grunts did try to take over with their numbers. It was a crisis called "The Grunt Rebellion". They lost to the Covenant after an Arbiter glassed the grunts' home world and forced the grunts in High Charity to watch. Though it did earn them the respect of the elites, who considered them worthy comrades and not just cannon fodder.

    The rank of Arbiter was still a powerful role in the Sangheli/Elites society even after the Prophets beat the Elites in the War of Beginning til they formed the Covenant, but the Arbiter was still subservient to the Prophets
    The rank of Arbiter only become a punishment and a badge of shame after the Arbiter Fal'Chavamee didn't believe in the Great Journey so an example was made of him.
    Not sure you watched Halo Legends anime shorts the Duel Episode it shows Arbiter/FalChavamee's story

    20:50 Aw, dude, it's beyond that. Reach was the first time that humanity got even closer to an idea of the kind of force the Covenant could bring to bear. Until they Reach they thought it was still possible to beat the Covenant by conventional means. When a High Charity and the home fleet slip to Delta Halo in Halo 2, Cortana isn't using hyperbole when she says it's the biggest Covenant fleet anyone's ever seen. It really wasn't until that moment that anyone at all in the UNSC really understood the true scope and scale of the enemy they faced, and how they had been wiping humanity out with such overwhelming force. Only a very small fraction of the Covenant was involved in the fight against humanity. If it weren't for humans' status as Reclaimers, the high prophets would probably have barely noticed at all.

    for the manpower issue, their populations are in the billions/ planet colonised displayed thus far barring a few exceptions and we only know of a small portion of them due to the UNSC being on the backfoot the entire war. the populations listed for the species in the old halo encyclopedia (around the time of halo 3 iirc) are only for the homeworlds not the species as a whole (which is why grunts are listed as only 300 million or so), that being said, it's hilarious that hunters are at 1.9.....*trillion*, in that listing, I aknowledge its probably for the individual legkolo worm but even then hunters are described as being made up of dozens (and sometimes "a few hundred") worms, this still gives us if we low ball a potential of two BILLION hunter combat forms just accounting their homeworld's population. that's 2 thousand hunter / space marine in the imperium.
    I am painfully aware the guard are the OVERWHELMING bulk of the imperium's numbers but i consider hunters to be on the high end of anti space marine race in popular sci fi that isn't *completely* out of their league (their displayed reaction time attack speed are enough to have a spartan 2 exerting full effort in lore, resilience and strength thresholds are both on the high end of tank grade as their armour is low capital ship level and main gun is a downsized scarab cannon which is powerful enough to melt forerunner nanoplating alloys which by most accounts would scale above necron materials)
    so they could definitely handle space marines, not saying its a wash but its an actual fight not a one sided thing.
    without going into too much details, elites in a comnbat harness in physicality scale to about 3/4 of a space marine in armour and their training is comparable to (NON NAMED) astartes, the arbiter is considered young by elite standards and he's older than chief, they are still at peak performance at 100 of age and start combat training at 4, elites would perform decently against SMs.
    funnily i think despite the massive stat advantage brutes would not do too well, not until the prophets field them with combat harnesses like in halo 3 at least and get them more disciplined, they are basically ogryns in stats and will facetank anything below anti material rifles in lore and still be able to ignore lethal wounds for a short while before actually dropping, however the aforementionned lack of armour and very space mariney combat doctrine they have would work against them for a while until tactical and logistics reforms happen (which would be actually fast given it took about 2 months to field all brutes with combat harness after the schism despite the loss of most foundry stations and worlds in the civil war)
    for the overall numbers of the covenant, it is good to remind everyone that the covenant wasn't at full effort *at all* in the human covenant war, the fleets sent against mankind up until reach were border control and anti pirate fleets barring a few exceptions (notably any fleet led by an arbiter) the covenants don't quite have the territory of the imperium but it is nothing to sneeze at as the elites on their own have thousands of planets at least, the exact numbers are unknown but the covenant at the absolute least has solid control and large colonies accross a full galactic arm. their foundries aren't quite on the level of forgeworlds but they are automated and replaceable, most of their important infrastructures for military deployements and such are mobile too which would help.
    funnily enough i'm gonna disagree with pancreas on one thing: titans would be a problem, at least for a while, see, standard issue scarab platforms are just mining rigs with secondary guns attached, they are neither uparmoured nor do they have energy shielding, because that was entirely unnecessary against the UNSC given the power difference. Now this would be bad for a few engagements but again the covenant can and has shown fast adaptation on full military scale in spans of time in the one or two months scale, scarabs CAN be equipped with shields and uparmoured, we know this because the banished can do it (their main weapons are always overheating though which is a problem for the worms piloting those but the shields and armour aren't an issue). Now i'll be fair and say that titan void shields are simply apeshit and would be still far above those a scarab can field but the covenant can produce scarabs in large enough numbers and fast enough that there'd be a dozen per titan fielded at least, the map assembly shows us it takes minutes to produce a scarab on one assembly line of a covenant superfoundry, they can crank out a lot of them very fast. and if scarabs don't cut it, harvesters and kraken platforms are capital ship tier walkers in armour and offensive capabilities that are large enough to respectively body crush a titan or just toss/ stomp one (void shield unaccounted for : P ) the harvester is in the multiple hundreds of metres range and the kraken is abotu 350 metres tall iirc and impervious to damage from anything smaller and less potent than anti ship forerunner weapon platforms which are comparable to similarly sized necron weapons on account of them being....well, forerunner shit.
    the covenant would fall into a similar situation as the Tau at the end of the day being too small to overtake the imperium on any significant scale but having enoguh power density to defend, except that the covenant is a full order of magnitude larger than the Tau and arguably has better tech and stronger races in its ranks. they'd be a strong faction but not the strongest and be middle of the pack in terms of numbers losing to behemoths like the nids the imperium and orks but overshadowing by a large margin the tau eldar votann and the necrons (i like the skely boys but they really don't have a lot of worlds tbh).
    thats my essay on that matter for now ahah.

    I know this is almost a year later, but if you are interested in halo ground command, the game is kept alive and expanding by a dedicated reddit team who remade all the models, created new units and factions, and expanded mechanics all using free 3D printed assets and rulebooks, and because the company that made the game went defunct, and this new team has gotten half-hearted "we dont care its a dead game" permission from 343, its going to stay free.

    21:00 your kind of right but not entirley. The humans and covenant had freindly interactions at first until the covenant learned that the humans were the real reclaimerd and the prophets declared a war of extinction on humanity because if the covenant as a whole found out it would shatter their empire and religion

    • @lennardchurch8483
      @lennardchurch8483 Рік тому +3

      Unless the last couple books retconned history, Humanity's first interactions with the Covenant were Jackal Pirates killing the crews of cargo vessels and stealing everything in them. Then Humanity laid a trap, which resulted in the destruction of one Jackal Pirate Crew, of which one Grunt and Huragok escaped to a Brute ship, which made official first contact with the agricultural world of Harvest, which almost immediately broke down into open war. The Prophets briefly considered inviting the humans to join the Covenant, but changed their minds as soon as Mendicant Bias told them Humanity were the Reclaimers.
      At no point did the Covenant and Humanity have friendly relations prior to the Human-Covenant war.

If you want to see the ridiculous fights between character of different franchises or just want to see fans sperg out over outcomes, check them out. Tbf marines vs Spartans goes as follows
    (average marine vs average spartan no special characters so don't at me)
    Marines are stronger psychically they are folding Spartans, Spartans can just about hold their own with an elite in terms of strength though it varies depending on the generation and individual characters
    Spartans would have the edge in strategy and technique so it would be sorta even so long as a spartan can keep out of a marines range they can win also depending on load outs as well but the minute they get caught lacking spartan will probably die.

      40k's closest facsimile to the Spartans are the Vindicare Assassins + shielded power armor and several additional physical and mental augmentations. The closest facsimile for the Space Marines in Halo would be a cross between the Jiralhanae and the Sangheili.

    Space marines are almost incomparable with spartans.
    Space marines outclass spartans on every level except for space travel and general intelligence.
    On top of that, there's a known weakness to cranial impacts in the spartan armor, one hit in the back of the head and a key power regulator circuit is broken, causing the armor to jerk so violently that the Spartan's spinal column gets obliterated.
