Agreed, I fully appreciate there is global warming, but its not just that, the UK waterways is a shambles from lazy councils and lazy landowners not keeping drainage clear. There are more flood plains being developed on constantly everywhere. Water needs a place to go, it's as simple as that. Tom Pemberton has also done a great video outlining the flooding issues, worth a watch.

Might not be exciting to watch but definitely one of the most important parts of farming ensuring your land can drain. Which hopefully by you showing the issues it causes will help any non farmers of the channel understand why rivers and watercourses need maintenance to keep the water moving. Your doing a good job with that drain it’s a bit of a mystery where it. actually goes I always think it’s very satisfying when you get water to actually go somewhere it’s been a long. Time since it was. Drained never seen tiles as. Old if you can get it going it will make a big difference to drying that field up It’s been a decent day today actually dried up a bit Your grain is doing well under the circumstances just need some good dry weather Arnt these Tractor. Enjoying the draining stuff. Been a lot of work round here on clearing drains this winter that had been left unmaintained for years. Guess it's one of those maintenance jobs that gets put off and off until we get a year like this where the lack of maintenance catches people out. Did you say the one you were working on today was your local councils responsibility?

Drains can be a can of worms, unless someone has been very forward thinking and mapped them out on paper every time theyve added to the drains then it turnes into a lucky dip if you find what you need.
Its always good when you do fix it though.

I think you getting all the rain water of the motorway there Oli. Just shows that years of neglect by the EA and Highway Agency causes all the issues of flooding…when the motorway was built there where no trees and no blocked drains!

For myself I wasn't out today but still made 110% by learning how to do calzones. If your team like pizza, calzones have all the advantages of pizza plus they're easier to eat on the move and stay hot longer!

I assume that water is coming off the knowsley expressway? One of those ground penetrating radars that look like a lawnmower would trace all those drains pretty quickly I would imagine. Pretty sure you can hire one 👍
