    As fascism spreads, German refugee Georg (Franz Rogowski) flees to Marseille and assumes the identity of the dead writer whose transit papers he is carrying. Living among refugees from around the world, Georg falls for Marie (Paula Beer), a mysterious woman searching for her husband--the man whose identity he has stolen. Adapted from Anna Segher’s 1942 novel, TRANSIT transposes the original story to the present, blurring periods to create a timeless exploration of the plight of displaced people.

    "Like Casablanca as written by Kafka" well said. This movie will be remembered as a classic in the future.

    I've been eager to see this when I heard about the fascinating premise and how it was born out of necessity. They didn't have the budget to recreate the novel's WW2 time period, so they changed it to a modern setting. That's a really interesting idea!

    Wonderful film and captures the past inside a very indeterminate present - a great director I watch all of Petzold's films - a great cinematic feat and a poetic tragic take on the plight of the human being

    Ich fühlte die Dunkelheit, der Film zeigt die Interaktion zwischen den Menschen und der Regierung. Die Musik war ok, aber ich liebte die Stimmung, es war sehr ruhig mit schwerer Liebe und komplizierter Situation. Georg ist ein netter Mann! Vielleicht wusste er nicht, was er in seinem Leben wollte, nur von Tag zu Tag leben.

    really confused about when this film takes place. thought it was around wwii but so many anachronisms i am now flummoxed beyond belief. is this like the age of adaline or winter’s tale? time travely? wtf?

    • @mikerojano7305
      @mikerojano7305 5 років тому +7

      It's apparently anachronistic on purpose A WWII-era story, but not intentionally placed or stated as being in that time to I guess give the feeling that this could happen in the future. Haven't watched it yet but this also threw me off so I had to check.

      Chandler Bing is right. It is kind of like listening to annoying voice-jockeys in the early morning, when incredibly tired and easily irritable, lulling you dangerously to sleep while driving with their monotones and then jolting you with their sound effects buttons and laughter.

    worst film ever. its like watching paint dry.
    no sense, no logic, no beginning, no development and no end. if you get to finish it, the feeling is like: is that a prank to the audience? where's my money back?
    a child could write a better script. shame, pure shame on producers and directors.
