I bought the original silver jubilee full 100W stack, 2555 back in 1987. Just got it out the other day after 18 years of storage in my basement..Still in MINT condition... I forgot how incredible this amp is!

Well take it to a tech and make sure sure your caps didn’t leak do to not having any 💥 power running through it for almost 20yrs. Amps need power to work/sound right!
Good advice 👌. The caps on my 800s been replaced several times during the years. When I bought the 800 2203ZW a few years ago it was in mint condition but I took it to my amp tech just to be sure and indeed all the caps had leaked so he changed those to new ones and re-tubed / biased it too and some other things and it sounded so much better after that 😎.

I got a 2555x when it came out. I thought it would be perfect for thrash. The guitar center guy tried to talk me out of it. He said it couldn't do metal. With a couple boosts up front it will hold it's own against any high gain amp.
It'll do anything in the right hands :-)

Wow now really want a real Marshall the Jubilee is like overdriven plexi and JCM 800. Definitely need a noise gate, EQ and clean OD pedal though like most high gain amps.

I’m not a professional sound engineer so I prefer a Reactive Load with IRs made by a professional engineer, like Jens Bogren or Kristian Kohler ’cos I get better results that way. And anybody could do it the same way like me without owning a pro studio.
And I crank my amps really loud (100w tube amps sounds like shit if you don’t do that 😎) and that’s impossible to do (with cabs) without being in a professional isolated studio. Well one can do that at a home studio but I’m pretty sure one wouldn’t have a home after that 😁.
Kristian Kohler has a great channel and he is a professional sound engineer (who knows how to mic cabs / speakers) and he has a pro studio so I recommend checking out his videos if you’re interested to hear different cabs etc.

I have this amp but the mini version 20watt...for metal i always pull the rhythm clip and boost it with the maxon od808...for me its like mid boosted when using pulling up the rhythm clip knob...and not so much with the normal channel (no rhythm clip)

I want to build a shelf for my tube heads similar to the one you have. So I was wondering how less space there is for the amps. I don‘t know but I am always afraid that they overheat. So is that possible and is the space they have in your setup enough (never had problems?)? I am fairly new to tube amps, so that‘s why I am asking.

It’s tight as F ’cos this was part of my touring rig so it needs to be 😎. I’ve removed the back plates from the amps so they get more air but these old amps blows up every now & then but that’s just how it is 😁.
@@EugeValovirta230V Thank you very much for the answer. Yeah my Marshall 6100 is currently not working. Strangely a tube in the pre amp section has blown, so it is right as you say, old amps blow now and then. But removing the back plates is a great call. To be honest I did not think of that. I will do that when the construction is done. So once again, thank you very much!

trying to decide between getting a used reissue marshall or a 1980-1983 JMP head. I appreciate that the reissue models have a DI out on the back for home recording. What is your favorite of the reissues and why? I would use it both as a clean pedal platform for a boss HM2 and some other things, but also run it hot and put a tube screamer in front of it for tighter thrash. You think I should go vintage?
JCM800 is my favourite (check out my comparison of that & Jubilee 👍) amp re-issue or not 😊. The re-issues are also cool ’cos they have an effects loop (vintage JMP & JCM800’s doesn’t) so you have more options where to put time - & modulation based effects ( if you’re using those). I’ve had a master volume JMP from late 70’s back in the days and if I remember correct it wasn’t quite as aggressive as my JCM800s. But especially in vintage Marshalls the sound can vary quite a lot from one amp to another so I’d try out a vintage one before buying ’cos some of them sound great and some just amazing 😊

IMO EVH is a bit more metal but on the other hand Marshall is always a Marshall. But I do love 5150 / 6505 also so I think you should try them both and make your decision after that.
I am thinking about buying a high gain Marshall. Would you recommend the Silver jubilee 2555x over the Marshall jvm210h?
I haven’t played with the JVM210H so can’t tell but The Jube is hard to beat 😎.

What do you think of the 2555X vs the Mesa Mark V?
I’ve never been much of a Mesa guy. I’ve always found them a bit too nice sounding 😊.
Which Marshall amp would you say has the lowest lows/low mids, and also has good cut?
Probably some of the newer ones like JVM or the JCM2000 TSL has lots of those too. I own one and it’s a really great amp but for some reason quite underrated. I’ve done a quite many videos with it and here’s a few if you’re interested:

The new DSL series has lots of low mids. You can make them sound almost like an Engl or a Peavey. The sound is still very focused together, so it should cut really well too.

No but on Cyhra's albums I've used the producer Jacob Hansen's Powerball 60 along with a 5150 III and some other gear that Jacob has in his studio. Those are great amps too!
