Doug Padilla was one of the smoothest indoor runner I ever had the pleasure to watch. I followed his entire Athletics West career Thank you

Padilla was an underrated runner. Actually faster than Prefontaine in roughly the same eras.

I was there with my dad and grandfather. Most amazing race I have ever watched. We were on our feet the entire race. Herschel Walker won the 40 yard dash.

Beating Nyambui must be an eternal memory. That is one gigantic feather in your cap Mr. Padia. Total respect. Did you talk after? Did you jog a lap or two?

Hello, Doug, It's Angela from BYU ! I remember you and Henry Marsh & Ed Eyestone, training with the all the younger guys at the track. You were always very encouraging, positive, amenable, and guileless presence. And I mean that in the frame of stepping away from an apparently undiluted focus and opportunity to simply pick t (h/f) a c (e) t to do your best , within a performance arena, associations vehicle, and follow thru, all set to receive your best value, over and over again. I feel honored to have known you in this cycle of life, to have known of you.
I remember Henry Marsh, and restrictions on running the steeple chase, was it apartheid ? some politics with Africa ? I can't remember. Politics wasn't something I was aware of at the time. I was aware Henry stood up, and "higher regulations" didn't agree, and that the best steeple chaser in the nation / world , was running, but wasn't actually allowed to be racing.
Years have passed. I know very little about Keeping up with the Kardashian's on tv, b.c. i still don't own a tv. However, I get my news on Yahoo on the internet, and it is causally splashed with the Kardashians. I was at the gym, using a tread mill, and did gather a slice of an episode, with a tv connected to the treadmill. Kourtney, she was in a big gas hog of a utility vehicle, it was night, and she commented to the camera as she is driving, that she didn't know that the white stripe separating cars from non vehicle traffic, that that was what it was for, as her big bouldering vehicle whimsically barreled down the high way.
I gathered everything I needed to know about the "show" in a slice, and abhorred the thought, and the "pre-sense" it brought, (to be in a flashy expensive vehicle to be scene, and know nothing of the value 2 value of how you ye w/e (d) g (e) get h e're AD e/p t 0/0 t (h/b) e am e (n) d : b.c. I immediately thought of you, or some one, so present, and beautiful in spirit, inside out, like you. As a grown woman looking back & away from that time, your presence, how you treat young women, is sorely missed.
Candidly, it makes me viscerally hurt to reflect on your frame, b.c. you were so lithe and graceful and pure in your carriage. Runner to runner, to experience you running, to view you running, you gave inn, you gave inn to being your be (s) t , and made it look utterly fluid, graceful, and easy, like breathing. I was thinking of you today, and found you here.

Hey Doug, I just watched another video and heard about your accident. I am so glad you survived! Praise the Lord for His mercy!!! I have a video clip that you might want for your channel. It is of the 1989 Jack in the Box Mile 3:54. Let me know and I will try to get it to you some how. P.S. I remember your friendship and our interesting talks about God. You would never have guessed it but I am a Christian now and attend church on a regular basis, I became a Seventh-day Adventist in 1997, now I am running the Christian race talked about by the Apostle Paul. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, and Hebrews 12:1-6. I pray that God will bless you my friend! John Quade

NorthColumbiaFarms, I'm glad Doug had those interesting talks with you about your Father in Heaven. Please consider praying about the following words-- "and it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn." No where else in scripture will you find such words You know Doug and the kind of person he is trust him and trust in your Heavenly Father

I think 82 makes more sense. I was a student at Michigan.
