Really interesting to see the tank's perspective. I've been priest heals on hardcore to date, never lost anyone in a dungeon yet but I've seen some great tanks, absolute morons and everything in between. I'd love to try tanking in future so this helps a lot
spot on guide! the only thing missing imo is to really emphasize the impact of shouts to hold aoe aggro. whenever i tank more than 3 mobs, the only spell i press is battle shout. mark a skull, attack that mob to generate rage and just spam battle shout. i see lots of tanks spamming cleave for big pulls and thats a big no no. cleave replaces your white swing so that means you dont generate rage while youre spending rage on cleave.
Why not charge sweeping strike whirlwind cleave? You can always swap back to sword shield Dstance if you dip. Warrior is capable of so much, dont cuck yourself
Great tips, especially concerning rage management. It makes a world of difference going into a pack of mobs with full rage compared to empty rage. Many packs have three mobs, and with high rage you can Cleave two and Sunder one, giving you excellent threat presence on all three mobs instantly.
Historically, I usually build priests or shamans on classic WoW servers; however, I do currently have a LVL 36 hardcore warrior and am having so much fun in dungeon-cleave groups. Unfortunately, I've recently discovered that tanking after BFD is no joke and that my warrior is most likely going to die very soon! That being said, I am definitely going to practice your lessons on a normal server before going back into hardcore WoW. Thank you!
Hey Frenziiii ! I'm slightly confused on shouts for threat; Does battle shout still allow you to stack more and more threat even if you're fighting the same group of mobs (that you debuffed/Demo shout) and, on the flip side, your party has the battle shout buff active? I've seen others saying they spam it but wanted to know the exact tech on it. Been getting back into WoW Classic and your videos have helped me a lot! You have an awesome and informative guide! @@KingofChampzania Battle shout still casts regardless, it just resets the buff timer, same with demo shout. So it still counts as threat. Thanks for watching I have a lot more videos coming soon :)
This guide is amazing. My brothers and I have been planning in doing a HC run. Im going to play a Druid and go resto boomie. Other bro is playing a warrior to plan on tanking. Last brother is playing a mage. We're playing Alliance do you have any tips for us? Which races should the Warrior play?
depends on what race to play warr as; if you want more dps play human for the weapon skill racial talent. if you want more survival-ability play gnome or dwarf for their racial talents.
@frenziiii I'm the druid. My brother is playing the warrior as his first time. He has played a rogue quite extensively but I am unfamiliar with their similarities
I've only tanked in classic on a druid. I tried to learn how to tank on a warrior, but it felt very awkward going into the protection talents. I guess I was doing it wrong. Thanks for the advice.
I actually ditched defiance and went 3/5 toughness to pick up 3/5 TM. Having just that little bit extra rage smooths out F/P clunkyness alot. It's a bit more risky I guess but threats been fine. So I spec 8/31/12 now
it annoys the shit out of me that things like shields and prot talents, which SHOULD be necessary for tanking at all points in the game, are instead secondary at best and a noob trap at worst
@@jannehallstrom3404 Every video I have says I suggest going arms. At level 60 I suggest fury prot if you plan on tanking end game dungeons or raids. Thanks for watching!
Fury prot is not bis for 5man dungeons lol... you dont have tact mastery and your rage generation will suck in 5mans. 2h arms will hold aggro better for trash and deep prot will give you more utilities for 5mans.
@@jc624 rage generation with full prot in 5 man dungeon? Utilities for 5 man is priority over fury prot? I’m not understanding, but respect your opinion. Thanks for watching!
@frenziiii For lower level dungeons prot is not needed, but at 60 when you can get shield slam & TM it's definitely superior than fury prot in a 5man setting. A good tank will utilize charge and zerker rage/zerker stance to generate rage when he's starved, which is something you cant do as fury prot spec stuck in Dstance trying to get that next bloodthirst. Utilities is nice to have in a hardcore setting as well. Revenge stun, last stand, concussive blow will be more useful than doing a bit more dps. Fury prot is great for raids but it sucks for 5mans because you NEED tactical mastery to play the warrior class properly
@ I’ve tanked fury prot in 5 mans my entire prebis hunt in hardcore no issues, 2019 classic, etc. that’s the beauty of warriors not one single way works for everyone, and that’s fine.
