- Опубліковано 5 січ 2023
- Today we DIY fix everything wrong with our cheap Porsche 987 Boxster S we bought from salvage auction sight unseen. This was was the cheapest in the USA because it was non running and had unknown mileage. We got it running for the first time in years last video and now we finished sorting it out for only $300. We go for the first drive in 4 years, and WOW, this thing drives and sounds amazing! Does it need a straight pipe exhaust?

I would rather watch this type of video than another supercar review…. Great story boys!
More to come!
Ditto!
These cheap Porsches have been my fave videos- more like this please!
The exhaust sounds super nice! I think it's an aftermarket. Just leave it!
Yeah no way that's stock😱
It's stock or at the most a Porsche Sports Exhaust
Its stock, I have the same car and the same exhaust. Very nice sound, on mine I have the sport package with the sport button, pushing this stiffens the suspension and makes the exhaust even better!!
Yeah, my exhaust doesn't sound like that
I agree!
The 987 is one of the most underrated cars on the planet. It's far more substantial in quality and feel than the 986, yet far more attainable than a 981and offers a more analog driving experience. The cars are not without their faults, but propertly maintained they're wonderful. The key to unlocking these cars is an exhaust, shifter with cables, aftermarket suspension and a tune. It transforms the car.
Guys, I watch you every day. I would love to win this blue '05 Porsche Boxter S when you get through fixing it up. I am 72, a retired secondary school teacher after spending 42 years in the classroom. Now living on a teacher's pension. I'm so excited for you two every time you take a wreck and fix it like new. Congratulations on all your entrepreneurial successes.
Love to see these auction wins. Particularly with the Boxster which I think is a killer fun car.
I had a 987 Boxster S(2007) in the same exterior/interior color combo, w/full leather and full power seats. Bought it w/81k miles, drove until 140k before it was flooded in the south Florida rain. It was simply an amazing vehicle, and other than the brakes, not super expensive to maintain. I miss it
To get the paperwork to separate, you can hold them over a boiling pot of water and use the steam.
Love your videos. I share every accomplishment/fix with joy as you find solutions to each problem. I am living vicariously through your videos as you find and repair each car. Thanks
Guys anytime you loose battery power you will get a psm failure. it will reset by driving the car and turning the steering wheel lock to lock. you only have to drive about 30 feet backward and then forward a couple times.
I've really come to enjoy your videos and adventures. Your enthusiasm is infectious and your content is both fun and interesting. This car is amazing, and I can just picture it all cleaned up and fully ready to ride. I have to admit that I have tried to flip cars with a few issues when purchased, but I have never had the type of success you guys have had. Bravo! Keep up the awesome content! Looking forward to more on this car.
Fellow 987 owner. This has become my favorite UA-cam channel.
Thank you! Nice car you got there ;)
PSM fault typically come after a discharged battery. But I'm loving all this. Now I want to get myself a questionable Boxster. Also windows partially autoroll down when the top isn't in locked position.
Thank you for the info
Your energy and optimism unmatched, keep grinding love the content
"Every minute it idles is a hundred bucks"
That hurt deep inside my soul
Right 😂
You have done really well with these Porsches! Congratulations! Love the little 987 Boxster.
So great to see the joy on your faces with each success😁! I've retired from restoring cars but would love to buy this one from you...when you're done.
I really needed this video 2 years ago lol same issues , same problems , same looking corroded ecm , stopped driving it for the same reasons you named .going to start working on it tomorrow ! Wish me luck
The exhaust sounds real nice.
Great car - stock exhaust on base/s is great. You're correct - PSM failure error is normal until you drive it since you disconnected the battery. Rear module has 2 fields in the module where you set the VIN - I guess the car doesn't care if it has a different VIN. Seems like the convertible top latch microswitch is broken - you can touch it with your finger where the metal latch slides into the top windshield and hits the microswitch.
I admire the way u guys fix that Boxer or Boxter what ever u call it. If that was me I'll sell it to the junk yard. You guys r amazing. That car is sick. You did a great job on that 🚗. You guys have a nice n blessed holiday. Take care 👍
Love watching all the videos, giving life back to these beasts...
Dear Bros,
You really have a lot of luck with the Porsche 987 Boxster S because by spending such a less of money including the new computer and the oil and oil filter change the car seems to be in a top condition now so you’ve done a great job
Hi from the UK. Great video. I've got a 2.7 987 Boxster in the same colour. Had it for 14 years now. I had a failed (flooded) control unit under the seat. Came home one evening after lots of rain that day to find both door windows partially open and the instrument panel lit up like a Christmas tree. Problem is caused by blocked drain pipes from the cabriolet hood. Water backs up and finds its way onto the control unit at the lowest point in the car. Always check the drain pipes are cleared when serviced. Simple fix to a potentially expensive problem.
I use the motor flush treatment every few yrs. Just to keep everything clean and it works great. That stuff is like the first thing I do when I get a used car
This is the car I’ve been dreaming about 🤩 SUPER COOL!!!!!you guys are my inspiration!! 😊
Worth the wait for this content, I noticed in episode 1 (if I'm not mistaken) that Jeffrey's phone said Saturday July 30th. Really enjoying watching these Boxsters come back to life, especially this Boxster S with the stick :-D Definitely on my list of cars that I will own one day! Sounds amazing too, stock or whatever it might be. I will want mine to sound just like it!!
The temperatures were a giveaway too, I am guessing it was a busy year for them to wait to long to release
I have a 987 with a broken transmission on the top. Most likely the cog wheel broke and the top or deck lid (there are 2) was in the process of going up or down. I assume it's in "manual" mode and if you just run the switch for the convertible top to full open or close. The windows will go up all the way and the error will disappear. Great work!
Keep the Porsche videos coming!
Yes, a short drive resets it! Same on my Cayman S
When that spoiler went up I was as happy as u guys, great story
You guys are really inspiring me to do stuff like this, keep it up!
Glad to hear it!
Same here! I already have a 718 Cayman S but would love to find a cheap Boxster to whip around :D Gotta learn this auction thing.
I’ve had 5 Porsches the lates a new 2020 992 S 911. I’ve had two of these boaters also and they are fantastic little cars so raw and so much feedback
I think it’d be cool to see an update video in the future of what exactly happened to all the cars during the 12 DoC.
Awesome vid guys, just started looking at these and as much as I love the barra xr6 it might be time for a new toy
I love the red one but the blue one is sweet and would own one in a heartbeat 😍
Opening exhaust notes are amazing!
They are!
Awesome exhaust sounds!!
Wow! The maroon (red?) and the beautiful blue! Back and doing what Porsche s have to do - spread smiles wherever they go.
Wish I was in the US, would have visited you just to see the museum of goodies Cheers and keep doing all the goodies. Getting classics where they belong.
Blessings from another dry area - the Holy Land! Cheers!!
love the boxster content! great vids!
Glad you like them!
This is very cool to watch. Thanks guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this video, we’ve got a 2006 987 Boxster in Midnight Blue with the same Stone Grey full leather, Bose, Bi Xenon lights abs heated seats too. We’ve done 11,000 fun trouble free miles in the year we’ve owned it
I got bit by the Porsche bug 23 years ago. You guys are the best!
I’m currently shopping for a boxster or cayman so your channel is really raising my confidence to find a good example. 😄✌🏼
Looking for a new car and stumbled upon the boxster love the way your informative and incorporate real life experiences and problems with the car. Just curios what would be a good deal for a 2013 boxster s. After intensive research ive come to be greedy of the creature comforts and tech the 2013 provides but i would not pass up the early models. I’m just unfamiliar with the platform and your channel is a blessing man; appreciate the videos man.
Awesome job!
Great job getting this baby sorted .
try the top maybe it needed to operate and reset
Greetings from San Diego CA. Awesome videos!.
Love from India dude! So fun to watch😀
I just discovered your channel, it's insane, I love it!
Porsche is my favorite car , unfortunately it's hard from were I live ( Romania ) to get an "affordable" one , and take care of it !
You guys are awesome I love Arizona and dying to move there you guys are great keep up to the work
Your additives are solvents that dissolve the crud... that's why they are so fluid...
Love this content. Been here since you found the yellow goldmine Porsche that you gave away to a fan
Great videos on the Boxster/Caymans. As an owner of a '17 Cayman, I am really dialed in to the content.
love your channel its better than any tv car show !!!!!!!
Wow another nice boxster you lads have been Soooooòo lucky with these cars keep up the great work and excellent for you to be given one away has a great weekend
With respect to the windows going up and then dropping down, I have a 2017 Cayman and it did the same intermittently, some adjustment had to me made made in how the window went into the track as it rose all the way to the closed position. there was a grab up there that made the window think something was in the way and it would reverse.
That is a great score. 👍 Matt
Love this!!! Greetings from Sweden.
It’s a Boxster S sport exhaust. I have one on my 2007 Boxster S. Sounds great!
Windows, try full down, let go of the button, press down for 10sec. To remember the position. Do the same for uper position. Works on german cars.
only subscribed to one video prior to watching yours. Great job!
Hi
Watching from Shropshire in the UK. Enjoying the content. Lexus and R230 Mercedes fan. Keep it going 👍
The cheap Porsche videos are great. Keep them coming.
Thanks, will do!
Sounds zesty/premium/luxurious.. I've never driven one but a manual with that exhaust note is a win
We had a custom aftermarket exhaust on ours, it sounded so so good, we sent it across the world to have it done highly recommend it’s somewhere in kurnwhal
Cool vid, thanks.. This past Monday I bought a 2004 Porsche Boxster S 6-speed manual 87K on the odometer, garage kept and in very very sweet condition. :) it's my first Porsche, but I fell in love with the 1985 928 S while stationed in Stuttgart Germany.
I know that feeling, driving a 2006 boxster S , since 2019! Aloha from Hawaii!
At the start of the test drive, I saw one of those moving stop signs. Roll On!
Great looking fun, I prefer the Cayman S.
Man your good at this!!!
Those wheels are called "lobster forks". The big red brakes are called "lobster claws". Nice video. Keep up the good work!
How did you all learn so much about cars proud of you all!!!
Super video! Love these guys!!!
Glad you like them!
The exhaust does not sound stock at all. I have a 987S thats on the original exhaust and does not sound like that. If it looks stock on the outside, it could still be a modified one from Carenewal with internal decat.
OMG that sound!!!!
Super cool 987 Boxster S and cooler videos fellas! That car would like great here in Nashville, TN! Let’s go!! 😂
These guys are so smart
Thank you for saying “Porsche “ correctly ❤
I was waiting for those nice little pops when he was revving it 🎉
these older Boxsters are truly special.
Wow! Lucky sale for this motor, lads!
Great job guys ! Have fun to watch your videos and specially Porsche reborn video ! Check from France ;-)
Love to see it, nice vid ❤️
The Lobster claws are one of my favorite wheels.
Sounds awesome. I would be just as excited as you are.
You and me both!
There is a microswitch for the top latch that is easy to replace.
Use a qt of Chevron transmission fluid in place of a qt of regular oil.
It's fundamentalie 10 wt oil with strong detergent. Run it for about 100 miles and change the oil. Some times I have run for 1000 miles
And it lubricates/reenergize s the rubber seals/components. Valve stem seals an other.
Everyone has Amazon boxes... put them under your oil catch pans. Soaks up spill oil great.
Really cool never driven sport car before sweet ride.
You guys are great to watch
The Car Wizard said that’s the one to buy!!❤
I love the cheap Porsche videos but the ones I like the most are the boxster ones live in az to do not like the heat 😅 keep up the good work
A friend of mine used to buy flooded cars long time ago and one thing that he was not happy about is that by the time he export the cars and was fixing them in our country, the transmissions were all milky so he told me if I was going to buy a "flooded" car, if it was a no start condition that was better, but he would drain engine oil and transmission fluid (gear oil if it was manual transmission) to confirm that it had no water in the system, for transmissions if the oil was ok he just put it back but he said 5 out 10 transmission had water at the top so when draining it was not mixed and he was able to save those by flushing all the lines, torque converter and tranny just by checking first and replacing the fluids so no come backs at his end when sold. Just in case you want be aware if you buy one of those cars as those have no dipstick sometimes it just need to be drained to confirm and you get a cheap car that works ok until the electrical gremlins start to show up. Nice content from JR I have a new favorite channel :)
I love these videos!
Love the blue one and that dusty red one
Crazy I was just look for one of these to buy. Same spec too!
I love Porsches....that is such a nice sounding car. I wonder if the contact is corroded as well for the senser and the top.
You can put in a half can of Sea Foam and get the same results. Half can in engine / Half in gas tank... I have had success doing that and never blew an engine but got the engine cleaned.
Great buy 🤘🏻
