Went back to finish the overgrown lot full of devilsweed with the MTL XCT. Used an app on my phone called "PictureThis" to figure out this stuff is called Saw Greenbrier.
I can’t believe after 50-60 years of brush-hogging I’m sitting here in my retirement rocking chair watching a video (and loving it) of someone cutting weeds for an hour! I can still imagine the smell of the weeds, the watering eyes, the burning from stinging nettle and the occasional attack of ground wasps (20 stings once) and of course, just waiting for the teeth jarring thump when you find a tree stump, 1/2 buried rock or the occasional wiggling 1/2 snake or the crunch of a big pile of bones! Damn, I’m even ‘sneezing ‘ now... Thanks for the memories guy...
Great video. So relaxing to watch the videos. I just like hearing the regular sound of the blades cutting the grass. The music is nice too but I like the sounds of the cutting of the grass also. Merry Christmas!
We have the Devils weed around here in OK also-never knew what it was called but Devils weed is fitting it grows aggressively too. I’ll have to get that app. Thanks.
I enjoyed the 2 nd part when you let us view the machine eating looking down instead of far away. Anyway to get the ivy off the trees so it doesn’t have a head start?
When you hit foreign debris (e.g. fabric, plastic bags, etc...) does that clog up the cutter head? Have you ever picked up wire and had it wrapped around the cutter blades???
Would like to see a comparison between a section of straight all forward mowing compared to a section with all the back and forth double cutting. And maybe a section of the double done in all forward. Looks like all the back and forth increases machine. And track wear , fuel etc
Thanks for sharing your hard work. I am curious why an operator would go forward and back, cutting the same area twice as opposed to once around the area in a forward motion then reversing direction covering the same area again. The machine does do the job regardless of the operator's method. Any camera used rarely gives what the operator sees, i.e. the ditch is not readily seen by the viewer unless the camera is positioned stationary and parallel to the object. That is some nasty stuff the machine is cutting. Those vines can be impossible to remove unless a large cutter is used. Thanks again.
In some instances I am going back to fine cut the ground by angling the blades down and other times I am trying to get all the stuff built up in the cutter to evacuate as it builds up inside and bogs everything down.
That stuff is nothing to any brush hog, IDigIt4 must be under bidding his time. I cut much worse stuff then that with an old 70 farm tractor and a Woods 84 in brush hog. One big job had more tree hidden areas then that so there were old homeless camps and trash dumps. I had two flat front tires one day. If you watch videos of other people using drum forestry mulchers they are cutting near people's homes and job has to look landscaped. Home owners are picky. this is a commercial job. Once over with a simple mower would be just fine. Sure, the end result looks beautiful, I hope he is mostly doing this for a video advertisement because he will go broke doing too many low paying jobs like this one.
Concerning your hydraulic leak: sounds like you’re not getting adequate support from your John Deere dealer if they’re saying that you need to replace a $600 part when you only needed to spend about $40. If it were me, I’d think long and hard when it comes time to replace your CTL. I’d spend the extra money and get a Caterpillar.
Well the $40 part was a different part. Before spending $500 on what I thought was the problem I spent $40 on something else that actually ended up being the problem in question. But yeah, my experience with the local JD dealership has been spotty to say the least. But I hear their trying to do much better, especially in the service department.
@@idigit4967 the living part that was cut down by the mower would be killed by the herbacide for sure. What came back were all the seeds that they dropped over the years or any minor rooted vines that didnt get hit by the herbacide. It's a long process to eradicate but over time and multiple applications the herbacide will start to show results and then grass or other plantings can be established. I hear that Cudzu is even worse bec it became resistant to round up. We dont have that up here in the Mitten.
Do you have any concern about disturbing nests of stinging insects such as bees and wasps? Not sure what part of country you are from but have read about people clearing lots that get stung when they disturb nests of flying insects. Personally I would wear at least one of those hats with netting like bee keepers wear to protect my face.
Not too much concern. The cab is enclosed so the bugs cant get to me as long as I'm inside. But when I'm out of the cab doing hand work, like cleaning up around trees with my hedger, yeah its definitely a concern. I got stung 3 times by yellowjackets on a job last year when I got out of the cab to cut a log with my chainsaw. They chased me off the lot and down the street!
If I were homeless I don't think I'd pick an overgrown field to spend the night in, especially knowing that there are probably snakes and ticks in it. Nope!
It could have been an interesting mowing footage ,unfortunately the driver kept backing up after every forward drive, Making me felt like Dizzy....And Boring...

Awesome, I appreciate yoyu watching!
I love watching you work and getting all that stuff down. 👍
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Looking forward and onto the next area.. You go Sir!"
I never have the same cutting pattern in my head as I watch these. I just need my own brush cutter.😂
Another great job well done Best wishes from the UK
Thank you! Cheers!
You did a wonderful job considering what you had to work through.💯👍🏾
I love watching this stuff
Awesome, more to come!
Thanks for upload a video today! 😁 👍
Thanks for watching!
Devilsweed sounds like a name of a rock band 🤘
For sure!
ANOTHER NICE JOB WELL DONE.
Thank you so much 👍
This is by far your best footage to date absolutely amazing job. Its getting closer to time for you to buy a drone!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! A drone is hopefully coming soon! Stay tuned!
Something so Satisfying about these videos
I hear that alot actually. Glad you're enjoying the content!

Looking well gd friend I bet snakes have met there fate with them blades
I have hit several snakes LOL. Stay tuned, I may have one I caught on camera in an upcoming vid...
Great work brother, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!

Me too I can watch it all day long
Thanks for watching!
Love this video!
heel mooi gedaan.
Good job Keep em coming
Thanks, will do!
Any chance of having a look at those cutting blades and the wear you get on them thanks
Sure, no problem
I always called it smilax bona nox and it's good for making a soft drink!
"Smoke 'em if ya got 'em"

Time for a triple dose of 2-4-D
Love it ❤️
Awesome, thanks!
I’ll bet that stuff would make a nice meal for goats. Cheerio.
I've heard that from several people actually in the comments.

I'll see what I can do sir!
I think that the high - low cutting method works the best. Less wear on the machinery.

Man I hope the pay is good for clearing that lot... Alott of tough weeds
I hope it was too! LOL!
Does that John Deere seem to be a little underpowered for that cutting deck??
Yep...that long, wet, water filled vine is always hard to cut.
G'day mate that is a lot of weed 🤣
No doubt!
was that asparagus there in the video
Just curious how much does it cost you to run that per hour ? Great videos
Thanks! With the cutter I'm typically between $100-150 per hour depending on several different factors.
I can't believe people would even suggest to walk anything like this. Just send it all the way to the danger zone and cut up everything!!
Oh man. I would drive the tracks off of it cutting bushes.
LOL I get that comment a lot!
How will that thing cut if you leave the front about three inches off the ground and drag the rear on the ground??
It does ok actually. I tried that technique recently on a bush hogging job and it worked pretty well!
back at the
What do you charge per acre or hour?
Good stuff. Just curious how long it took you to get to 1k subs. I’m currently at 176 lol
A little less than a year if I remember.

You know. I just might buy me one of those.
They are handy to have around for brush... and probably zombie apocalypses
Yea i ran a skidd stear underground at the coal mines i worked at. An i loved it. Get me one with a stump grinder on it and make some money
You ever cut up any snakes
The trees would have looked better if u had done them it would have made the whole place look much better.
Sawyer brairs
unless it is sprayed with a herbicide it will just come right back but hey.... job security...
My dad tried that a few years ago. Turned brown for a few months and then came right back LOL.

Poison Ivy... Immune, Virginia Creeper... Immune, Rattlesnake bite... Dead.
No pipe, no rocks and no cinder blocks. I’d call that a successful mowing job.
No doubt!

Theres is a better way to mow that won't be so hard on the hyd. sys. I bet your hyd. tempture runs high or do you have a guage for that.
I don't think there is a gauge but the computer senses that stuff and will shut the machine down to idle if there is a problem.
Frankly, if you did it the other way, I'd think you were nuts! It's quite obvious that you risk flipping over onto your side if you did.
Sure got allot of Homeless peoples cloths all over the place on them lots.
Yes, that's been a problem for several years on this lot.

You'd be surprised what you see people sleep in or on when high on drugs

A perfect environment to find a skeleton.
This is true
it's just weeds 😂
pretty much
You'd get 10x more subs if you'd sprinkle a few boxes of kittens, puppies, baby ducks and chicks around before you mowed...
Geez, I think I'd have to disagree with you there LOL.
