A buddy and I used to fool around with these old Cats. When we found one stuck, we'd always remove the injector nozzles, pour diesel or Marvel into each cylinder, and let them soak for a day or two. Worked really well.
Marvel is great stuff
My son and I freed up a 46a d8 ,,, pulled the injectors and put atf and acetone in each of the cylinders,,,, left it for about 2 weeks and used a long bar on the ring ger\ar to start rocking it,, It broke free after about 3 seperate attempts,,,, now to fire the beasty back up
best way to free up a stuck engine...these guys here are real idiots. I have used atf and acetone many times...
Man that turbo on the D7 is just music to my ears. I hope y'all get the other D7 unstuck!!!!
I learn so much from the comment section ! The experience and knowledge from the hard working people out there is priceless ! Thank you all !
It's never easy tow starting an engine . Ive been dragging around my chainsaw all morning and it still won't run
Lol!!#
My Grandad used to pull start his D6 a few times with an IH 806. Looked funny but worked like a charm.
It is your dozer, your video, your time and you share it .... but I am going to sit here in the A/C and tell you how to do it. .... with a keyboard.... I love UA-cam.... live life man, enjoy this everyday you can!
@Tsunauticus III it is as many dots as I wish... so there is three for you. ... as I was saying someone bitches about everything on UA-cam. .. and actually there is no ac in my house in Thailand.
@Tsunauticus III what the hell are you a dot nazi ??????????
There are you some question marks to play with ...........and some dots too if that's your thing 😂😂😂
Fill the crankcase right up to the top with diesel fuel and let is soak a day or two, drain, refill with oil then do this. Never try to turn a seized engine dry.
Pull the injectors and dump automatic transmission fluid into the cylinders. Leave injectors out for the push.
@@beboboymann3823 50% atf-50% acetone,....let soak 2-3 hrs and good to go.
hand grenade- pull pin, drop, run like hell and never return!
Turn the transmission upside down, shake, fill pistons with cream soda, turn right side up, then wait 4 months.

LOL !
Ah yes, the sound of a 17A's turbo. Listened to that for years, years ago. Sweet machine with excellent power to weight ratio for it's time. Better than the D7E that were produced concurrently with the later model D7-17As. I agree though, some lube first would be a good idea. You probably did that though. Wonder if a high gear on the 7 would have been better than a low gear...just thinkin. Yes even reverse has multi speeds.
Love to see them ole girls still at it!! 👍hope she runs like a top for ya boys!!👍
Get a 5 gal can of wd-40 and dump it down the stack till it's full, leave sit for a week and get on the flywheel with a nice long bar. If it doesn't move let it sit a little longer and try again. If it moves give it another day and bar it over. I did this on a d82u that had been "rain poisoned", took me about 3 weeks but I got her loose! Good luck and I hope you get it loose.
I bought a cat d6 9u with a stuck engine and tryed to free it up like this ended up rebuilding the engine then i found out y it had been sitting all those years. The hub that the sproket presses on to was broke ..... I got a good used one and im in the process of putting it back together
I’m not going to tell u boys how to do something but instead tell u how I have gotten lots of old engines unstuck most of the time. Pull injectors out use whatever u want for liquid u want for penetrate and heat up the water in the block to 180 or 200. Then let it cool off. The liquid u put it will get sucked in to the bottom of the pistons and will let loose most of the rust. And whatever water maybe in there will get evaporated out from the heat. Just a suggestion tho.
Thanks for posting the best way to break an engine loose on this comment stream. Great idea to heat up the coolant. I haven't heard of that before.
This guy helping this equipment out he stuck try again always have back up plan awesome video keep up the good job men bless you happy holidays Thanksgiving
U cn pull more than u can push . But u need some fueloil and dextron to soak those pistons and rings
Should have added a little lamp oil to each cylinder and let soak for a day or two
That 1st puff of black smoke says it all
Love that turbo whine.
Tryed pulling it behind a newer d7 just skidded the tracks so soaked it fr three months with dextron acitone every couple weeks through injector holes
Dennis I thought yours had a new engine?
I get the feeling that an engine as seized as that will need to be torn down.
no the idiot won’t let him pushing for enough
Check out the humming bird that photo bombs at 5:45 into video. We drug an old John Deere Wheatland around the yard twice before I found the decompression lever. Then I got a shower of rusty water which turned into a run away engine. I've never gotten off a tractor so fast as that time in order to shut off the fuel valve.
I think that was a wasp
@@oliver-ht1lv On second viewing I believe you are correct. Some kind of bee with antennae.
@@johnpullman3227 yeah
Never seen something jumped off backwards lol it worked
Question: was the stuck cylinder machine put in a higher gear to push from or a lower gear and thus too much torque required. Twas pushing a dual wheel truck one time (6 of us pushing forward) and the driver had the trans in low. I yelled "2nd gear" and away we went.
Very nice track machines. could use some paint though
Love the sound of turbo 17A's.
Cool video but I feel sorry for the stuck cylinders.
Why do you not use the throttle when the machine bogs down? Instead you back off, when you get a good push going Throttle It
How do I contact you about using a portion of your video in a nonprofit video?
Note had the pistons been siezed it would have never started (review the term engine siezed )
G Lopez that was a different dozer that started
U need Old Farm Junk 101 guy he fix it for sure
something will give out and it's not the engine for sure
hydrolock ftw
I've never seen any body push start a dozer! did it with my VW rabbit may times. Always parked on a hill. But never a dozer.
exactly the same thing just a little heavier
Did u ever get it loose
I got mine loose with dextron and acetone50 50 mix
Can i ask is that small bulldozer a D4 or a D6
The small dozer with the winch is a D4.
Thanks thought it looked like a d4
Is this in the manual ?
NOW that's a jump start.
Got mine free and running but i think i bent a valve. update rusted valve seat sent to rebuild shop
Did you at least soak the pistons in penetrant oil?
We will soak the pistons with oil or rust eater liquid.
My brother in law restored many old diesel Minneapolis Moline tractors that had stuck engines, he put diesel oil in the cylinders and let them soak for a couple of days and most of them freed right up! He has the complete set of Molines !
Did u ever get it loose and running
No the engine is still locked up. We do have a spare engine for a engine swap.
D4D trying to wake his bigger brother
ACELERA ESSE TRATOR HOMEM
The conrods in the tractor being pushed will be fucked now !!
I wonder why the chap doing the pushing doesn't rev his cat's engine?
What a couple of maroons! Wish I was there to teach you two something about push starting a cat.
Motor is locked up
Great.Score the cylinder bores.
Well did Pops get mad and cuss at it?
Let it get moving before throwing the clutch in.
No kidding I was thinking the same thing
So uh what about that D7H problem?
The D7H has been fixed. I probably won't see the D7H anymore because the person I worked for who owned the D7H has died and every piece of equipment he had will be sold.
Wow you guys are so lucky!
Hi do u know of any one wrecking a D7 17 A
Wouldn't you just tow one from the other rather than push?
Turn it by hand now on fan
Surely be better to tow than push......
That's what I thought too in fact its the first time I,ve seen someone trying to start an engine this way
Where have you been ? Just another lounge chair Critic that has never done anything
You have to know what your doing to operate one of those old machines , I am sure they have done it a time or two .
I am not so sure...they don't know how to free up a stuck engine....what they are doing is stupid.
@@gypsytraders
Push or pull starting is common .
You guys are pissing in the wind!
That is definatley not the way to do that. Those cylinders need to be soaked.
If soaking the cylinders doesn't free up the pistons. Then we can use another parts D7 for a engine swap.
Next time buy a head gasket. Remove the head, see why it's set up!! You can do more damage by doing stupid shit like this. If rings and piston set up, pour some sneakin oil in the cylinders. Let set a couple days. Take a 5lb hammer and a block of hard wood. Now tap on the top on the pistons. It will free up, just cool your jets. Once it is free, you can check the cylinders for wear, scratches, broken rings, ect. Lazy people!!!
Apparently none of them know what "throttle" is....
I thought the same thing. Lugging that diesel at idle is a great way to have two broke diesels. My dad farmed for decades and ever since I was young he always said that when you're working a diesel there's only one position for the throttle, wide open.
Yea, since when do you idle DOWN when stalling?
take valve covers off they are bad for rusting up push rods u just be bending push rods
Needs some TLC ....
fuck thats as rough as guts!
Wd 40 biger cat
Thanks
nice..done follow
You need to add another keyword in that list. 'Dumb' would suit......
