I disagree with giving 2 points at 1:05 but the rest was dominant. That 2 points is an example of how the governing body has relaxed scoring rules to make scoring easier.
Is Quincy Monday somewhat younger than Mitchell Messenbrink? I think Quincy is at a disadvantage due to length of his legs compared with length of rest of his body. If so, this makes him vulnerable to single and double leg takedowns. He protects his legs by dropping to his knees, then his head and arms are attacked. Messenbrink was able to front headlock and then go behind for a takedown and also he was able to get an angle of attack and get several single leg tackles started. Monday was able to stop at least one of those single legs with a powerful whizzer to end in a stalemate Quincy needs to change his style and wrestle takedowns from his feet and not from his knees When I see a wrestler on both knees, with his head on the mat, arms out stretched reaching for a leg tackle… I shake my head. Generally this is a losing position I know I know, some great wrestling champions get in these positions all the time, sometimes winning a takedown and sometimes getting a stalemate-restart on feet I’m in my seventies, but Quincy could beat me when I was in my prime. Still, I’ve succeeded at coaching, and I think Quincy should wrestle in a better stance, possibly emulating styles of wrestlers who are usually taller than their opponents. I had a saying “Don’t go boink” I’d watch films of dual meets with sound cut off When a wrestler shot a takedown (leg tackle, often with no effective setup) He would end up hitting his knees to mat, head down, and arms extended, but hands empty I would make my own sound effect, when his knees hit the mat I’d say “Boink” Thank you for showing great wrestling videos Two tough wrestlers, that I could never beat in a million years Good luck and thank you
Great match. As a side note, that was one of the most boring commentators I have ever heard. His monotone unexciting style makes good wrestling matches sound uninteresting. If someone were listening without watching, they could easily become disinterested. Compare him to the long time Penn State commentator Jeff Byers to hear how it should be done - that gentleman knows how to give captivating match commentary.
To beat the penn guy just slow him down he shoots gut, wrench him old fashioned moves the cross face three quarter Nelson let the dude dance These guys don’t wrestle him right
Thanks for posting this. I liked the additional color provided to Sparks on the call of the match. Some of it, apparently from downstairs😂
We need ten weight classes!
I feel like Mesenbrink wrestles so hard he does the slap hands stuff after to be like ‘I don’t hate you, I’m just wrestling’ but I could be wrong 😂
Where's the 86 and 74 finals bro

There is no commentator that even closely rivals Jeff Byers.
Has this guy ever watched wrestling?
The second 2 is why you only have 6 weight classes. You don’t want the scoring to make sense or be intuitive to casual viewers.
that was a crotch lift. I think even casual viewers can see the exposure of Monday's back
