The Outlanders theme song is a variation on a Scottish air collected and published in the 1870s. Lyrics were added later by an English Baronet then Robert Lewis Stevenson. The Outlander lyrics were taken from the Stevenson version almost word for word, the major change was "lad" to "lass". Both sets of lyrics recall Bonnie Prince Charlie's journey to the Isle of Skye after his defeat at Culloden.
Dell Petersen “Sing me a song of a lad that is gone...Over the sea to Skye.” Bonny Prince Charlie. Makes perfect sense now. Thanks. I love learning stuff like this. 👍
It's so interesting to see so many older men there. There doesn't seem to be many young men in the costuming and historical reenactment world these days.
@@Costuming_Drama I actually have some grey and purple (wool poly blend) check that I've been dying to make into at least trousers and a waistcoat. Would it be weird if I took a photo and shared with you on Instagram?
I can enlighten you on that one. That was Nancy (from Oliver Twist). She is seen throughout the day at Fair in the red dress, and the white veil is added after Bill Sykes murders her. I believe that angry mob that hunts down Bill after her murder was discontinued due to not wanting to trigger people due to the recent (as of 2019) violent happenings at other fairs. Ghosts and spirits, however are a big part of Fair, though participants can only see them if the are children, drunk, or Irish.
Morris dancers mystify me. I know it is a weird time for this, but my knowledge of the construction of vintage drawers (crotchless) and can-can dancing just collided and I suddenly understood what all the outrage was about. Or - am I over seeing this?

Been catching up with it on Netflix. I hear that song in my sleep. 🤣
Oh there’s actually quite a few here...
Are they single? 😜
I WANT THAT CHECK SUIT!
Omg that thing was amazing.
@@Costuming_Drama I actually have some grey and purple (wool poly blend) check that I've been dying to make into at least trousers and a waistcoat. Would it be weird if I took a photo and shared with you on Instagram?
The item you had a question about in the kitchen at Tavistock House is a mould for lobster mousse.
Shelley Monson sounds tasty! Let’s make it! I wonder if Mrs. Beeton has a receipt for Lobster Mousse!
That was not a question. 😉😉 the springs of Herbs coming out the top should give you a hint.
I'm glad you put the ??? there because my eyes got real big for a second.
Lol
Costuming Drama - Yes,
It’s quite rude!
Of course it's always raining when you go to Dickens Fair - Dickens was English so you get English weather.

3:14 He looks like Benedict Cumberbatch
Was it my imagination, I saw a gal in a red dress and white drape like Bernadette Banner’s woman in the red dress with blood. Right?
The red death I believe?
Yes!!!
I saw that too!
You totally saw that!
Ghosts and spirits, however are a big part of Fair, though participants can only see them if the are children, drunk, or Irish.
...for Prince Ali! 😂
🤣😂
Morris dancers mystify me. I know it is a weird time for this, but my knowledge of the construction of vintage drawers (crotchless) and can-can dancing just collided and I suddenly understood what all the outrage was about. Or - am I over seeing this?
🤯🤯🤯🤯
Nope, outrage!
The best part was when the girl joined in the Queen’s parade and marched with them and then her friend punched her in the arm 🤣
🤣😂 100% agree!
Yes! I thought Oh that would have been me as a kid.
How many muppets did you see?
Weirdly, nine
i'm having a severe case of dress envy and i dress desires... im only 4 minutes in.
