- Outside of gaming segment, monitors are usually a monotonous category in which models that push the boundaries are a rare occurrence. Dell U2724DE we got to test is one of those special monitors, which offers all-around improvements significant enough to make you think about upgrading from your current work/productivity/design monitor. Take a look at what it has to offer in our in-depth review.

Very nicely processed review, thank you. 🙂
Great review. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the detailed review, i got U2724D around 10 days now, and i can say it is a great piece of tech!
Is your monitor showing horizontal and vertical lines while playing videos ?
@@Sumit-lk7ol nope, i don't have any lines when playing video. Maybe to check cable?
What about HDR? Do you miss it. How is the HDR content on this monitor ?
@@MohammedMohaideen Don't have HDR
Hey @MohammedMohaideen Monitor doesnt have HDR, and i have noticed color change on YT hdr videos ( when scrolling ). I have noticed it accidantely, for now im using this monitor for office purpuse, development especially.
Great review. Thank you.
Hello! Thank you for the great video!
I do not understand how this display will work with MacBook Pro 14 m3 max which has 254 ppi. Will we see some blurry fonts in pdf files for example ?
Don’t forget. Dell’s advance exchange service in case your monitor gets busted within the 3 year limited warranty is a godsend. The peace of mind alone is a huge plus.
is there any issue of vertical lines?
Great review. I got the U2724D model, but I'm unable to find the best settings under custom colors. DO you have an ICC profile or a link to the best settings to get the most out of the monitor?
I'm using the Display P3 profile
Dude, that's like asking if a radio tuner does make your car drive faster 😂 obviously ICC profiles have no relation to make a display gooder. You have to buy a colorimeter and tune yourself in case you mean to get the most accurate picture.. ICC is color and contrast management and every monitor acts it's own way. Hence they get delivered with unique calibration display checkups in case you wondered.
Thank you for the review!
Could you advise me on which monitor to choose for graphic design (corporate identity, branding production): the hero of this review or ASUS ProArt PA278CGV? Because it is a very tight choice, Dell has an auto-brightness adjustment (most of all I won't use the auto color temperature feature), a higher contrast ratio and a more appealing (for me personally) design but needs calibration to achieve high color precision. On the other hand, Asus has Calman certification from the box and as I understand from tests a few percent more of Adobe RGB coverage. But... I can't figure out if those few percent worth all cons of ASUS.
Sorry for the late reply. Factory calibration for color critical work is a good starting point, but can vary with ambient conditions, so it is definitely a good idea to get even a cheap calibrator and recheck every few weeks. Therefore, Dell + calibration device would be a much better option than relying on Calman certification.
@@BenchHouse thank you for the advice!
Hi, I’ve read that this monitor has ambient light sensor and adaptive brightness. How well does it work?
We mentioned it in the video - Brightness works fine, but white balance not so much.
One thing I hate about Dell monitors is that white background appears yellowish due to their built-in antiglare Comfortview.
I switched it to LG 27up850 and the white looks so much better on it.
will you be doing a MSI MAG 274QRF QD E2 review?
Gladly, but we don't get MSI units often.
This is a great video thank you! Just one question (it’s probably stupid) can this monitor be put vertically
Yes, it can be turned 90° both directions
@@anttitapio4145 thank you I just had to be sure. Ur the best I wish nothing but the best for you
Someone complained about dynamic interlace pattern artifacts (sort of vertical lines visible during movements). Did you notice this?
No, nothing out of the ordinary on the specimen we've tested.
@@BenchHouse Great, thank you!
I own the predecessor S2721DS, solid monitor, but wonder if this latest one suffers the same issue I had connecting to my Macbook Pro M1 - color defaults to YpRpBp when using HDMI 2.0. Had to buy a dedicated USB C to DP 1.2 cable, which thankfully defaults to the correct RGB color.
Use a proper laptop.
@@thelightning87 Thanks sweetheart, will do
what's the downside of using YPbPr color as opposed to RGB?
i think the colors look pretty good enough on my Dell G3223Q via HDMI2.1 on my mac mini M2 Pro
watching this in a UltraSharp U2720Q
I have two questions: a) Is text really sharp b) Is picture quality of the U2724D the same if you don't need two monitors and uSB hubs?
It's as good as it gets on a 27" QHD panel. Unless you're super picky or used to 4k, it should be satisfactory.
As for the model without additional features, it should be the same in terms of panel, though we did not test it.
Are the bezels as thin as before or slightly larger? I have the older version and considering getting this version.
Going by memory, I do think they are a touch larger.
The MOnitor looks nice. Got one. But for me the colours are super incorrect. White looks more green/yellowish. Non os the preinstalles settings has changed it. I got another Monitor next to it with true white colour. Its night and day difference. Also the IPS glow is hugh. Not that satisfied to be honest.
Watching this in a UltraSharp U2723QE which looks exactly the same outside
I'm interested in U2723QE ..I need multitasking software development monitor with comfort eye ..which is better 2723 or 2724
@@viquaronline I think the major difference is that 2723qe is 4k and 2724de is 2k.
what colour device you used for calibration?
X-Rite i1 for Dell software, and Calibrite Display Plus HL for all the measurements.
Hi, is PWM free?
What kind of power cord does it have? Does it have a brick?
no brick
Is this monitor really comfortable for eyes ? Do you get any eye strain or fatigue ?
Dell is marketing this monitor as "5-star Eye Comfort"
I was with eye fadigue before using it. But I need to change my glass also.
what is difference between non E version (u2724d)?
AFAIK, the only difference is that the non E version does not have a Thunderbolt hub.
@@leonidprokupets thank you. I'll get cheaper one 👍
It seems that the non E version doesn’t allow the “single USB-C cable” solution. Something to keep in mind, if this is something you plan on doing.
Is this a true 10bit panel or 8bit with frc?
8bit+FRC
@@BenchHouse on Dells website it says 10bit panel and 8bit + FRC is native . Does that mean it can be 10 bit but has to be forced through nvidia control panel?
I have the U2724D model, and its great. I got it for 355€.
Is your monitor showing horizontal and vertical lines while playing videos ?
@@Sumit-lk7ol No, all looks great. Have you tryed different cable, port? My is connected via DP.
is this available in 32inch?
This model is not, unfortunately.
At 10:35 11:03 why there are tiny vertical lines in video ? Any problem with monitor ?
It's moire from the camera, not visible when you're in front of the monitor.
Anyone serious about content creation definitely needs at least a 4k display.
entirely depends. i am downgrading from a 27 inch 4k to this one and do quite a lot of web dev. scaling is an important factor to consider and 1440p at 100% beats 4k at 150% in most use cases. 5k at reasonable prices to run at even 200% scaling for the real estate of 1440p is still a few years away and would be the best of both worlds but for now you have to go 42 inch to run 4k at 100% (tried it) which is way too big and strains your eyes a lot. higher resolution does not equal a better display.
Really depends. In photography, for instance, high quality screens at both high and low resolutions are useful depending on what, exactly, you're doing. For precision retouching a 4K screen that fits on your desk is actually the opposite of helpful. The pixels are too small. It might help to have a second screen that's higher resolution. Also, in the pro photography world, even a QHD 27 inch screen can set you back 2K for the best colour reproduction models (see EIZO monitors).
