Another great video mate. To anyone wondering, he's a great guy in person too. Really friendly and what you see in the videos is really who he is. Was a pleasure John keep up the great work.
Thank you very much, you obviously caught me on a good day when I’d been fed. 😜
Haha I guess so. Really enjoyed the town, was a nice little day out down your way.
These videos are a genuine highlight of the week. Thanks for the content
Well it is a pleasure to share them with you. 😊🦀🦞
Belrin vids shippers.
What a cracking crab John. A true monster from the rocks. Well done 👏
You wouldn’t like him attached to your fingers would you!!
@The Fish Locker that's a crusher and a bruiser. Biggest I have seen you haul John. Nothing like that up here. I'm in Middlesbrough so North East Coast really
@@TheFishLocker- John - do you find that shooting your pots onto rockier ground can also help deter pot poachers too as they can be just too much work to pull up and take your contents?
@@mstrdiver - that’s partly why I do it
@@TheFishLocker hopefully they are not watching and learning how to get them out of the rocks lol. I don't know if you call them the same in your neck of the woods but out here in the US we have porch pirates that steal packages and people set up all sorts of traps to annoy them for stealing. You're innovative maybe you can up with something like that for your pots lol. Like spray them with your most stinkiest dead bait. Or pinch their fingers lol I think you could come up with something.
As a teacher I love the educational value you present John. And wow, what a crab, that’s a feast.
That’s some classroom too! 😍
Thanks to watching your videos I’ve finally gotten over my fear of crabs. Went rock pooling last week and grabbed a few, i’m cured!
What a crab! And a great video, thanks taking us along.
My pleasure. 😊👍🏻

Haha. It is our pleasure. Have a good night 😊🦀
Great video John &, as always, very informative & educational in that very relaxed style of commentary that is uniquely YOU. What a monster crab to go with your 2 lobsters, you can't ask for much better than that. Say hi to all the family for me & all stay healthy. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
You couldn’t hope for a better result than this mate. 😊👍🏻🦀🦞
Delightful!
🦞🦀
It's a good thing you're a fisherman and not a poker player. It's easy to see the joyous expression of a good pot at soon as you can see what's in it. Sometimes it's great keepers, but it's great to see that you have just as much joy from the more rare catches that you can teach us about. I'm stuck in Kansas and have never seen the ocean anywhere, I've done a lot of inland traveling, but just never was able to get away from the farm long enough for a seaside vacation. Most of my vacations centered around horse shows or going to purchase a new horse.
Well I hope at some point you get to spend some time with your toes in the ocean Barbara. Have a lovely day and take care. 😊💙
Had to rewind and listen again to your explaination of how to tell the difference between male and female crab at about 26:20 made me laugh out loud. Always love your videos my friend.
Take a day to work from home, See a fish locker video... Cool. something to listen to!
😉👍🏻🦀
A Jeremy. 😂😂😂

Some time served at sea there mate. Glad they’re enjoying the videos. 😊👍🏻
"This guy will just break your bones." Then a smile and sets him back in the bucket. Made me chuckle. I hope he tasted great! One of them would be plenty for your family I bet. Thanks as always for sharing, John. I just can't get enough of your videos! Tight lines!
Just wait and see.
Great video 👍.
I appreciate all your great information. Don't change a thing.
Take care
Thank you Rick.
That is for sure a massive crab for sure ! Wow ! Congrats !
An easy like, as always. Your pleasure with that crab catch, made the video. Enjoyed the information offered and had my last question answered. I don't sea fish or haven't yet but using Dogfish for pot bait seemed sensible. I didn't bother posting, as I had a 'feeling' I could just watch and find out. So here ends my little effort, as a thankyou for all of yours. Have a great day.
Thank you Paul and have a wonderful day. 😊👍🏻
Good weather finally arrived in Europe
Finally.

Looks like another trip to Jim's Kitchen for a cook up, cracking crab 🤓
Fish heads, fish heads, roly-poly fish heads. Fish heads, fish heads, eat them up, Yum.
🤣🤣🤣
You've said the same thing about needing to clean those pots for several vids now - about time to get to it sir.
That was a monster crab, just goes to show that if it's managed right there's plenty to go round, lots of small lobsters and crabs for the future, crackin video again mate, see you in the next one John
Shows a healthy working system doesn’t it.
Great haul there, thanks for sharing 🦀👍
My pleasure Stuart.
When my kids were young, a pack of bacon and some crab hooks.
They absolutely loved it.
I'm doing it with my grand kids now.
I think I'm more excited doing it.
Obviously, we catch them, out them in a bucket then throw them back.
It's just making those memories.
Great memories.
You look so happy and thrilled with the size of that crab, it is ginormous! Where's our favourite chef to make a splendrous meal of it?
No hiding that excitement was there. 🤣
Nice one!
Thank you.
Loved today thanks .
Just absolutely awesome! I think you should take them to Jim's for another video.
😉🦀
Hi John what a fantastic 2023 video enjoyed it very much m8, Tel G
Thanks mate.
Brilliant!! What a belter he is!!! My mouth is watering at the prospect of you eating that!! Great video once more John - and well rewarded for your efforts. Nice one.
Thanks Mike.
Nice to see you're not the only one on those grounds doing the V notches.
What a cracker! Very nice
Amazing crab. Well done
Oh. My. WORD! That was a monster crab! An excellent day pulling the pots, if you don't count the waves that is. Enjoy an excellent dinner!
Thank you Julianne. 😊🦀
Hi John, can you explain in a future video about the natural predators of the lobsters please? I often wonder when you release them, what might scoff them before they reach their hidey holes 🙂
The only things to really eat lobsters once they are around 1lb+ in weight is octopus and seals.
On Skye last year, I found an eaten out lobster carapace on rocks where we know there’s an otter holt (and where seals don’t come out of the water). Claws were intact, so pretty good evidence that otters eat them too - where we’re lucky enough to have otters. Out of interest, did you weigh or measure that huge crab?
What a cracker wow. Bet James was impressed lol 👍
Amazing video John and some good eating
Thank you Dawn.
I’d love to taste those Brown crabs 🦀 to our Mud crabs 🦀. Beautiful. 👍🏻🦀🇦🇺
Very similar in taste. 😉🦀
All fabulous eating 🦀🦀
Thanks
Thank you Richard.
I've seen the biggest lobster and now the biggest crab of all. Amazing! You had a great show!
I know nothing about sea fishing..but I like watching your vids fnd them interesting and great viewing..keep it up.
Thank you very much James. 😊👍🏻
Omg John , cant believe the size of that crab.
Great to see the pregnant female lobster and to protect them is essential for the life cycle of the species.
Great stuff as usual
Thanks Chris.
Hello John
I love your vids the knowledge imparted the care shown to the catch and concern for the ecology.
You have that empathy that really only northerners have
Well done
Mike
I have found that Northerners are a happier and more friendly breed.
That crab!
He was a bruiser.
For the rusty v notching clipper stick in a container of white vinegar for a day or two and then give it a scrub and oil it should remove the bulk of the rust and it'll protect it from further rusting
Thank you.
My my my what a size of edible crab that is absolutely amazing to see them get that size you Hannah and wee James will enjoy that ❤❤❤❤
WOW!!! Huge crab! Great video as always. Congrats!
That big bruiser has made me really hungry! Not had crab for ages.
