Hi Jonathan ~ you are so sweet and genuinely kind to Filipinos that is why they (we) love you. What you just ate is called Ginataang Kalabasa with veggies and crab. It is a Filipino vegetable stew made with squash, usually shrimp, and long beans cooked in coconut milk. Ginataan means “done with coconut milk”. She mentioned the dish has “sayote” which is chayote, a member of the gourd family. I like eating sayote.

The ladies were so kind and pleasant. Sometimes I wish I live in the provinces in the PH. Life is so laid back, quiet, peaceful and simple. The world is too stressful now.
Btw, when she said you were strong to travel alone. Filipinos do not tend to go traveling by themselves. It's always with a friend or group of friends or family. It doesn't necessarily mean the place is unsafe. Filipinos are always surrounded by other people so it is very rare to be lonely there.
Kangkong is water spinach. Guinataan (coconut) dishes mostly is a Bicolano dish.

It's sad to hear that she lost her business during the pandemic. The truth though was A LOT of people have lost their business during the pandemic and it sucks so bad. The economy plummeted down during those times and a lot of us have to do something else to do a living. It was tough, but being a Pinoy has it's own perks. Even though life was so hard, we still smile and laugh and move on.

Thre are also places there in Mindanao which are not touristy and could surely use vloggers like you to promote the hidden beauty of their places like Sulu, Tawi Tawi , and Basilan, some say there are sites there that are far more stunning than Boracay, Bohol and Siargao, do check these out and see if any are good a suggestion for your future contents, Thanks again, Good Luck and Safe Travels :-)
