While on my guitar hunt in the Philippines, I try a popular Filipino food chain. As I have a new home in Bohol, Philippines, I needed to finally buy a guitar. I also visit a mall where I eat the Filipino chicken in Bohol, Philippines. Thank you for watching!

Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Greenwich, Chowking,. Red Ribbon are affiliated. They are sister companies🥰
Include Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the list. Then Jollibee has a joint venture or master franchise in Panda Express, Burger King and Yoshinoya.

Hi Jonathan I am your silent viewer since 5 months ago. I really admire you taking time talking to locals and being open minded.
Am glad you like Bohol. I am originally from Bohol and now living in South Carolina USA. I grew up in a small island of Bohol. Maybe you can visit our island is called Hingotanan Island, but there's so many islands part of Bohol it's only 15 or more minutes away by boat...Another way to tour around and hangout with locals. Let me know if you want, and I can arrange a family boat to pick you up.
Take care always and God bless.
Hi Mommy Joy! Thank you for watching for the past months! I’ve actually never heard of this island, I’ll look it up! Thank you for the recommendation!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL no problem! Anytime!.. Take care..
Hi Jonathan, im John. Born and raised in the Philippines but living in Toronto Canada. I must say your videoe have been very fun and entertaining to watch! Ive been binge watching them since ive stumbled upon your channel! Love your raw and genuine interactions with the local as well as your adventures of the places in the Philippines! Enjoy your stay!
"Guitar is Life" for some of us! .... I visited several Cebu/Mactan guitar manufacturers as I had heard so much about them.. nice looking, but I was underwhelmed with the quality. In the end I bought a Taylor GS in Makati and it was the best traveler guitar purchase I could have made. Yamaha sure makes some good classical guitars, glad you found a new 6 string friend👍
Great you found one! I don’t need anything too fancy, I’m not an expert, but I love having a classical guitar to play when I wake up in the morning. Peaceful way to start the day!
Oh Maaaan, wish you had the chance to visit Cebu's local guitar makers.
My favorite solo vlogger this year❤
Thanks!
Hey thank you Steven!! I really appreciate it!
Nice home Jonathan I could feel that you are really relax and there is peace and tranguility around.... Just Injoy, life in the Philippines is simple but happy...
I have a 1958 Yamaha Dynamic, a vintage classic guitar I bought directly from Japan (used), and it sounds soo good .. I Bought it for just P3,500, with very small damage that I repaired when I returned here.🙂 It's rare to find classical guitar here as Filipinos are not fond of playing classical music.
By the way, Mang Inasal is owned by Jollibee 😁
Pagod (Tagalog) - tired - Kapoy in Bisaya
It's totally fine to ask a Filipina how old she is.. it's not offensive here in the Philippines.
Would really love to hear you play Asturias in full 😊
you can always put nylon strings on a steel string guitar with a cutaway. That's how Flamenco players do it. You're not going to get the super-wide flat neck of a Classical guitar, but it's an option. I've done it before and it does work pretty well.
I wanna say something it refreshing to hear you speak to people. I seen many youtuber I feel they think they are better than the country they visit, I hate this I feel they have no personality and they come of bad for me. The way they speak in a tone that seems they are making fun of the people they are talk too. Thank you for not doing this you are a natural, never change.
Wow! That guitar is nice & beautiful dude...Congrats...
Thank you! I really enjoy it!
One of my favorite videos. I would love to hear you play more.

Toyo (soy sauce) + Calamnsi + spiced vinegar is called Sowsaowan! You can add garlic, onion, ginger, and some sugar to cut the acid. Also there is a guitar shop is Lapu Lapu that does nice work.

I've played music over 40yrs and I only had on classical guitar and it has an extra hole in it now like Willy Nelson's guitar. I own only Ibanez guitars. I have 4 and they're all at my son's house back in the states. He doesn't play. I also play bass and drums and doodle on the keys from time to time
Hi Jonathan , love your vlogs ❤
btw Mang Inasal is owned by Jollibee Corporation
Hi! Thank you for watching! I didn’t know that was the same company
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL Jollibee bought Mang Inasal because it was becoming very popular. Jollibee's motto is, if you can't beat them, buy them!
8:19 we eat chicken inasal by hand..
Never been to Bohol myself. Enjoy living in Bohol. New sub here. Watching from Down Under. Stay safe.
thanks for the sub!! Bohol is great.. In my most recent post "Filipinos always share food" you can see how nice the beach is with the clear water in that one spot. Thanks for watching!

wow, i didn't know you play the guitar, Jonathan! it's always nice to see someone who knows how to play the guitar. i wish i learned it when i was younger.
It’s never too late! Start now!!! 🤣although it seems hard it’s not! I havnt played in years but I’m partial to the classic style he got with plastic strings because it’s such a wonderful deep rich melodic sound! Go for it!!!🌟🌟🌟🙏🏻❤️
Wow! I'm impressed you can play the guitar. You're a talented person.
Nice guitar. 🎸
Great video thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching!
4:02 "This is the ICM mall, I like this coz it's a manageable size". Then a minute later, Jonathan struggles to find Mang Inasal. 🤣👍
😂 that's exactly what I noticed while editing this video 😂
😁😁😁
Hi Jonathan, wow it's nice that you found a good guitar. I can play the guitar just a little only. I have a cut out guitar with steel strings. Disco Record Center is just near Mang Inasal in front of Alta Citta. I love this video. Ayo-ayo, amping 💕
hi! Thanks for watching! All it takes is time and practice!
Would love to listen you playing that beautiful Guitar man👍

@@bayareatanders havnt had any yet but I’d totally agree! Most fast food here is really garbage-except for FRIES!!! Lol how do you mess up FRIES🤣🙏🏻❤️
I was laughing as well when I saw that, classic. I was in that mall in February and will be again in a few weeks!!! The fun challenge is riding a motorbike around Tagbilaran. Never a dull moment.

You just got a great travel companion. Amping
you can find mang inasal anywhere also like jollibee..inside and outside malls .. hehehehe
⭐️ I’m very sure wouldn’t mind- they own Mang Inasal too.
Also,
ChowKing
Greenwich
Burger King- yup!
Red Ribbon
🙂
Whoa he can play, I love flamenco style. I you listen to Philippine old folk song you will hear a lot of Spanish guitar
we used to live there in tagbilaran beautiful city
jollibee food corp owns mang inasal so no competition lolz! they also have greenwich, burger king, coffee bean and tea leaf, red ribbon, chowking, yoshinoya, tim ho wan, panda express under their wing.
That place and chooks to go are the best
I like this mall because i know my way around… then gets lost lol; love the channel!!!!
😂 yeahhh.. that definitely happened hahaha
There’s Payag Restaurant. They used to serve excellent chicken barbecue - not sure if it’s still in business. If they are you should try it
I have the same problem. When someone/ something tells me to go north/south/ etc I always think "i'm not a compass - how would I know?". Just say left/ right/ turn around
😂hahah exactly! Especially if the roads aren't in a grid
You have amazing blue eyes, so beautiful.
Thank you, Jessica!
Also, I enjoy watching your videos, very nice presentation.
Jonathan, wow! Had no idea you played the guitar. I like you even more now. I’m a pianist.
I wish I started the piano when I was young.. I can't play at all, but of course we use the concept of the piano to learn music theory, so I study it conceptually.
😊 How much your guitar? Thanks for sharing your amazing video
Yes rainjacket is smart to take wd in every outing😊.
Mmm chicken looks good! Makes me hungry! Thanks for the vid!
I agree with your view of Mang Inasal. Jollibee won't be mad, they own Mang Inasal too, as well as Greenwich Pizza, Chow King and Red Ribbon bake shop. So half of the restaurants in ICM are the same company.
OMGGGGG, youre so adorable. You brought the number stick out of the restaurant with you hihihi
Hi Jonathan I love watching your video ❤ keep safe bro
This guy is a doctor, a teacher and a plumber and best of all guitar player 😅😅😅
I agree, no knives , same in Thailand. That chicken Inasal looks delish
Love it❤ with the guitar.
I never had wide neck nylon string guitar, I love to have one. I always practice finger picking but with my steel string acoustic guitar, I'd say it wasn't bad but it's hard, and I feel like I would have a hard time in nylon string guitar too because It doesn't have marker for octaves
Yayy hope i bump you up one day in panglao Jonathan. I have met 8miles from home unexpectedly in ICM . ❤
Hope to bump into you too! I'l be around!
“Kahit na mapui ang buhok ko “nice to learn with your guitar
You're very good with the guitar Jonathan. It would be awesome to hear you play "Matud Nila", an old Visayan folk song/love song. It would be great on classical guitar with its haunting melody. 🎶
thank you! I'm definitely no expert, but I enjoy playing. I just searched Matud NIla.. I'm sure I'm not good enough to play that 😂 beautiful song though!
I want jonathan to play the sound of silence, dust in thenwind and the boxers.
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL I'm sure you can manage Matud Nila. But if you want something simpler, you can try 'Dahil Sa Yo' (Because of You), another classic Filipino love song. It was even sung by Nat King Cole when he had a concert here i think in the 60s. I just heard it here on yt.
Anyway, that's just my way of introducing you to some beautiful Filipino music. ᵔᴗᵔ
@@rosebrown2267 I actually do play dust in the wind on my instagram page! @ jonathan_escapes
@@moondustgirl2132 I'll check these out thank you!!
I've started a countdown -- will celebrate my husband's 60th birthday in Bohol with our three daughters, son-in-law, granddaughter, and three close friends. Leaving in ten days. Hope to bump into you!!!
oo nice! Tell him I said happy birthday! I typically like staying a bit away from Alona beach since it's the tourist area. South Palms beach is the nicest in Pangalo! You don't need to stay at the resort to use the beach and the restaurant there. I also loved staying right on Loboc river.. very peaceful and much closer to the Chocolate hills and the tarsiers. If you've already reserved a hotel near alona beach you're still very close to that South Palms beach I mentioned, and Alona Beach area has all of the island tours and restaurants as well, so it's great for that! Hope to run into you too, and have a great trip!
Neat yamaha acoustic guitar Jonathan! Good vibes.. cool!😎👍🇵🇭🇺🇸
You played classic Albeniz...?
Brooo i just subd coz my mom is from bohol and im a guitarist too, i want to see more music related vlogs sooon! and come visit cagayan when you visit davao, hope to bump into you in bohol when we visit soon. amping amego pag ayu2 diha.

we love mang inasal too because they have unli rice, and when we eat there we do it in filipino way, we dont use spoon and fork, we eat with our hands, you can wash your hand first or ask for gloves there,, try it.. its much better and more delicious
Hi there! Fantastic job on the guitar. I miss playing the guitar myself. It’s been ages. Would love to hear your version of From the Beginning by Emerson Lake & Palmer or Samba Pa Ti by Ottmar Liebert. Cheers 🥂

In my dialect in Aklan. Same also Gitara.🙂🙂 But some of my own is different to pure Bisaya like in Davao also here in Siargao Island . Different dialect.🙂🙂
Hi paul great video, did you hear that in june they are going to change the 3 yrs you can stay there , which is going to affect a lot if expats ,because i was coming there in sept but waiting to here what happens first if yiu here anything please tell us on yiur blog
Hi Jonathan. I love your vlogs. I've been a subscriber since the you arrived in the Philippines. Since you live in Bohol and you love guitars, why not go to Cebu and see how it is made. Lapu-Lapu, near Cebu in the Philippines, considers itself the guitar capital of the country. Its handcrafted guitars and ukuleles are sold around the world. It is famous for producing world-class handmade guitars of melodious tones and beautiful designs. I would love to see a vlog of you exploring the world of guitars in the Philippines :)
Ooo that’s really interesting, that would be a great video idea! Thank you for the idea!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL Yes, Lapu-lapu in Mactan, Cebu is known to be the guitar capital of the Philippines. Maybe you can visit it someday.
I also wanted to write, wait, and go to Mactan! But now he already bought one. But yes, I also would like to see a video from you about that, its always good if someone films that with a certain kind of knowledge..
Alegre Guitars & Ferangeli Guitars are some of the manufacturers there.
7:27 It is better to use the whole hand to point at something.. I dont think it really bothers a lot of people but pointing one finger is sometimes considered rude. Most filipinos who will show you directions will use the whole hand (and/or mouth.. lol)
14:55 by the way, imho, the best place for a guitar hunt is Mactan Island, which is the home to the finest local guitar producers of the Philippines.. even if you now bought a guitar here, as a guitar player, you should once visit the famous local guitar manufacturers on Mactan Island, they also provide tours..
I assume your home base will in bohol?
Another great video thanks for sharing. Do you use a Gopro to film?
