As a kid, my sister and I LOVED this segment of 60 Minutes. My dad would call us to the living room right before Andy Rooney's segment. We were almost always laughing by the time it was over. It was the only time we could be noisy when our dad watched the news.
I remember when my dad pulled me and my sister aside one day and told us that they didn't want any more crap for birthdays and Christmas. They had enough crap. We started getting them gift cards to restaurants and tickets to plays.
Andy was a hoot. I liked his spot on 60 minutes, and watched it as a kid even back during 1973. The show is bland without him ,but I can watch him on You Tube, plus I have some of his books.
I liked what he said about candy: We at CBS News are not allowed to accept gifts of any kind, but we ate all the candy before we remembered that!

I saw him at a restaurant once. I was arriving for an early dinner reservation and he and his party were finishing their meal.
"It's my opinion that one of them is better than the other" HAHAHA

@@RealHealthyGuidance that must be why I like him
I never sent him a gift, but I saw his segment when he looked younger, from the 1970's.He kinda looked like James Cagney did, during the 1950's.
Is that what I really look like? Uhhh, yes!
Andy Rooney was like quit sending me this shit….. thanks
We would watch 60 Minutes just to see and hear what Andy was up to next....

R.I.P. You old geezer. I'm really going to miss you.

Andy Rooney was the last honest man.
I probably already have one or I don't want one. Sounds like old people in my family during the holidays
What happened to the milk carton part?
The tape must've been chewed but if you pause it you can see it says "From Real Cows." Probably made a quip about it being opposed to fake cows.
I am so glad I never sent him anything . nor met him thank God
That's what got him. Candy crunch laced with poison.

Absolutely miserable man
“Typical curmudgeon Rooney.” That’s rich coming from you, Wallace.
The guy was a huge jerk. All he ever did was complain about everything. 🤦♂️
Lighten up. Seriously.
