I'm 62 this year and I have watched Conway Twitty go from black and white screen to living color. Oh how this man could move me! I love all the performers of this era. They made sense. The lyrics meant something special and there was a great story in every song. May they all rest in peace.
@@shugharris4050 I’m only 45 but my folks are about 80…they laid the foundation of my life with golden oldies playing in the background…this still touches my soul in a way nothing else can, I miss all the greats SO MUCH, something is definitely missing today. I can still see my parents doing the jitter bug like a couple super heroes, man were they great too! I’m really going to miss this generation, they were like nothing else, irreplaceable.😢❤ Much love to ya Shug! P.S. If we could make them all twenty again, they would put a woopin’ on all the nonsense and problems happening today…they just wouldn’t be having it, we would unite and kick it’s ass, no problem…let’s hope we can muster up their old school mojo and save the planet.
I've always said that I was born a generation too late. My parents listened to this, now some 50 years later and I'm still listening to it and still love it. And I've also found my kids listening also, when they think I'm not paying attention.
As a child I watched the Dick Clark shows on a black and white screen. It took me YEARS to learn he was lip-syncing the whole time! But wow oh wow...he sure did a heck of a job doing it! I love Conway Twitty. Always have and always will. It also didn't take me long to notice the similarities in his moves and Elvis Presley's moves. Just look at the clip near the end after he's up on stage. There!.....there is Conway's moves which came BEFORE Elvis! There you have it! But Elvis took it to another level, didn't he? And man oh man DID he! Great performers gone to rest. I love you guys!
Just look at the normality of the people. There was no impertinence, stupidity or woo woo woooooo after the song. It was just all so nice. And this song, wonderful.
It's looks like galya peeva she was in 50s Ed Sullivan TV show documentary about biography history books years before New York City universal studios hollywood in movie theater in new horizons and make sure you have to be there by side effects
Skanzool , I was lucky and had older sisters. I got the 50's, 60's, and 70's. They were all great. When I was a little girl this was one of my favorites.
This just magical. The feeling it invokes is amazing. I love how the kids in the audience start clapping when he walks down the aisle. It was make believe. : )
My dad and I saw him perform it at a concert in 1968 and for the first and only time in my life I actually Swooned!! I still get kind of heart-poundy when I hear it even now, especially in a live video. 🤩❤
There was just as much hate, you just didn't see it broadcasted every day 24/7. It has become mechanized warfare against us to make us think times are sooooo much worse. The numbers say that just isn't so, however, that doesn't help when it comes to making you give up freedoms.
Sure seems that way, however I promise you that according to history the 50's still had it's fair share of bigotry, maliciousness, and violence. But it also had its positively wonderful and extraordinarily amazing elements as well. I honestly feel that regardless of era, all the negative events that takes place makes all our positive experiences even that much more exquisite, because without them we just would not appreciate the finer points that life has to offer.
This icon will. Be today tomorow and forever a icon,, his songs were always heart felt,, everytime he sang he put it right to the edge and sang his heart out, l Remeber when he sang,, that he once said l sang this song,, be cause l was deep. In love with another guys wife,, and l use to love the growl in his voice that he sang from the heart,, he seemed like he was crying in his voice, all his records were hits at my partys nothing like his songs they made u cry, made u sigh,,. Made u feel emotional, all my friends would cry with the songs of his,, every song was a story of life a man and a woman so deep in love with another, and. He brought those songs into pure solid gold,, every song he will always always be remembered as pure gold,,,
I went out on the 2nd date in my life it was a year and a half when I went out on my first When we were in the car holding hands I put this song on and she knew who Conway Twitty was and we drove along in the rain listening to this beautiful song Thank you, Mr. Conway Twitty for making such a beautiful song and me being able to remember this song from a beautiful date
He was in between and his songs went to both crowds. His songs were popular with rock and the country side too. I danced to his Songs along with Elvis and Everly Brothers, The Browns plus more along with them....The German Girls loved their Songs to dance too..
Started his career in Hamilton ON, I parked his car when he stayed at the Fischer hotel while playing the Flamingo lounge where it's rumoured he was writing this song
I sincerely believe that this is arguably the best classic rock-and-roll song, but this video is all you need for the stark difference between sounding like the King vs. being the King. Twitty has the voice, but not even a fraction of Elvis' stage presence/charisma.
Brings tears to my eyes! I was a 9th grader when Conway came along with ONLY MAKE BELIEVE & my favorite song. But he came along the same time Elvis did and the media & public wasn't very nice to him. They said he tried to sound like and be like Elvis on the rock & roll side. He did appear on Dick Clark's American Bandstand but shortly after the Country music side picked him up & the rest is history. Along time ago.At 74 I hope to hear Hello Darling when I get to the gates! I'd love to see Michael & Tre-God Bless You both for carrying on his music. I don't travel much would love to see you before I die. Love from WY
I was 4 tears old and playing this 45 every Saturday morning while Mom and Dad slept in during the Weekend. My ALL TIME FAVORITE Conway's songs. Loved them ALL, this was my Favorite though🥰😍🥰Rest In Heaven Conway😇You sure are missed and Thanks for all your Wonderful songs🥰
Beautiful music from the 1950s. The youngsters all dressed up and Conway Twitty also. That was a sign of RESPECT ... not like in these disgusting, disrespectful times. At 77 years very old, I enjoy this kind of music. Thank you for showing it.
I have always loved the songs that Conway twitty sings . It's wonderful in the way that he sings each, every song . May you rest in peace Conway . You're admired, loved, missed, you'll never ever will be forgotten. Thanks again for the wonderful music, songs, the man that you are.
You know, thank you for the internet! When I was young I only knew Conway as an older country singer. Couldn’t relate as a teen much. Seeing these old videos show he was a stylish cool man back then.
People forget Conway was promoted early on as rock singer. I remember when this first aired. My 14 year old sister had a melt down. Forget Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Conway Twitty was her new love.
This was Conway’s memorable first major hit that reached #1, sold a million records, and spent five months on Billboard’s Hot 100. It was the hot song of summer and fall of '58. I believe it. I absolutely love this song and this single record version in particular. This Beech-nut show appearance of Conway was of him lip syncing to his hit record. These and other performances were the MTV videos of their day. The artists that appeared on Beech-nut usually lip synced to their records. Very few actually performed live. Regardless, this music video strikes a chord with so many, including me. It was a 2 minute power ballad of the time. This is my favorite Conway song with "Hello Darlin" as a close second.
My nana loves this song so much....She has a powerful voice low and deep but beautiful...we used to karaoke and me and her would practice this one often.....man the memories I love you nana...
The travelogue in Dick Clark's intro to this is a masterpiece in and of itself. Setting the tone for what would prove to be legendary music with mention of classics by Meredith Willson and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Amazing! What the heck ever became of "Whoop Up" though?B.W.
Bellissima canzone! Interpretazione di voce meravigliosa. Musica che trasmette pura emozione e fa battere il cuore come fosse una carezza di sentimenti assoluti!
I love the way people dressed in those day. Respectable. Clean looking and well mannered. America was different . Love that music back then. I don't even buy this new crap they call music.
The Great Conway Twitty!... His early songwriting got off to a big start, with this song. He not only wrote it, but made it a smash hit!.. It's Country Music where he found his loyal and appreciative audience, including my Mom and then me. Love Conway!.. Conway and Loretta Lynn will always be Country's to singing duo, in my opinion. I loved Beach Nut gum!...
The great vocal quartet The Jordanaires backed him on this tune. If you get a chance listen to an early Roy Orbison song from his Sun Record days called "Rockhouse". Conway wrote that one under his real name Harold Jenkins.
Ever had that one love in your life that perhaps you loved but maybe they did not love you so much back? This song reminds me of that in my life.......
Parece a voz do Elvis Adoraria ter conhecido os Estados Unidos e assistido a esses programas dessa época. Grandes músicos, grandes apresentadores e grandes shows.

Thanks Conway! You had more talent in your little toe than most singers/writers today have in their entire body
Most underrated artist EVER. He had more hits than any artist alive and still barely mentioned. Infuriates me. He was so goooood.
Oh ya. What about the spice girls. Huh
Elvis had way more hits bud
Conway was great! Luckily I got to see him in live concert once. Amazing voice.
Such a great looking man and I just love him and Loretta Lynn together you don't get music like that anymore
I could listen to this song a thousand times over and over again .
A legend we will never forget. Music doesn't sound this good anymore!
I’m 72 and still get the goosies at this song…💗
A genuine talent. He was amazing.
this is the music i can listen to on repeat.. remember back when the words to a song actually meant something...

This 60 s music will never be match this music was sung with true meaning .Who is listening to this in 2023🇬🇧👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I am! Conway Twitty was great! (2024)
As am I in 2024.!
2024!
I'm not much of a music person, but I love Conrad Twitty.
I love you
Conway was a rocker long before he was country.
Conway,. I cannot ever stop listening to your wonderful voice! The song has special meaning to it! Thanks so much for your song!
He's the king of country no question the most powerful voice.

The 50s were truly awesome 👏 too bad we can’t stop time!
Nobody done this song like Conway Twitty.
The 50s had to be the greatest decade in human history.
Skanzool
You are so right
There was lots of racism, though.

yes, for white people!
Forever missed. Will always be on my playlist. :)
That was a great song and he sang it so good.
RIP.Conway
This just magical. The feeling it invokes is amazing. I love how the kids in the audience start clapping when he walks down the aisle. It was make believe. : )
Yes. they didn't start screaming to where you could not hear him and trying to tear the poor guy apart. The America I love the most!

Conway had many huge hits when he went country, but growing up when I did this is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I think it's one of his Best songs. Great voice & memories. 76 still like my, Rock and Roll.

Beautiful song. What a beautiful voice. The 50's had the best music.

He knew if the women liked them they would make it to the top...
Conway eres unico
One of my favorite songs ever. Watching this video and remembering seeing Phantom of the Opera at The Majestic and eating at Sardi's afterwards.
Conway Twitty began in rock 'n roll before becoming a country-music legend!
Yes Conway did Lonely Blue Boy in late 50's or early 60's
He was in between and his songs went to both crowds.
His songs were popular with rock and the country side too.

Without a doubt one of my absolute favorite songs...especially the way Conway sings it
He had that growling voice like whispering kinda on some of the words.
I forgot how much presence he had when he was young! ❤
I saw Conway in concert 4 times...He never disappointed! lol crushed big time

Very unusual song construction .. and the over the top vocal make this some kind of classic moldy oldie.
