Totally awesome!! Mando always reminds me of my uncle Fritz. He was 6’8” and him holding a mandolin looked really odd but man could that dude play!!🎶🎶🎶. So can you!
Wish she would do it more. I love the banjo, but she should play a few with mando instead. Mad as a Hatter needs her on mando. Just not the same without it.
Friend gave me a round back mandolin in the 60's. Nice to strum. I'd prefer the shape Rebecca plays. This is a really nice melodic song. My favourite mando song was on an old Rod Stewart album.
This is the way I hear it: Down home diggin' in the dirt A little hard work never hurt Barefoot getting sunburnt Back where she was raised High hay and a little creek Copperheads in the summer heat Some the color of a Georgia peach Back where she was raised Daddy would always say Mama won't you get that fiddle Come on, burn it to the ground Wailing like an old train whistle That high and lonesome sound She could play those mountain tunes Passed to her like heirlooms Y'all mama was little but get her a fiddle. She could turn that green grass blue Sally Gooden' and Cripple Creek Startin' fires with gasoline The dogs are ugly but they ain't mean Appalachia way Rawhide and Rocky Top They make fun of the way we talk But our front doors ain't never locked Appalachia way Don't it make you wanna stay
I appreciate the sound of the mandolin and admire people who play it. As a lap steel player, she is very entertaining to listen to and she is made for the mandolin.
Very nice . Wish you would do more with Rhianna Giddens. Check out Town Van Zant To live is to Fly . The Cover of that on the Blue Earth CD is very much in your style.
As a French citizen, no one around me, at work or in my family, understands my "obsession" for American folk music. It is so sad, in my opinion, to face such a lack of interest for instrumental mastering.
I remember you telling me about him at the time, not so long ago, when I was thinking about giving myself the chance to be part of the crowd of their Olympia's performance ❤ I didn't meet him there, unfortunately, but I saw them playing live and listened to their amazing skills and the sisters enchanted my music lover's ears ! Not to mention crowd's enthusiasm ^^'D
I’m being a little facetious but she does play and sing so beautifully and naturally and you can see she really enjoys herself. She also loves to teach.

Julie has the best UA-cam channel for a Larkin Poe fan
Aww. Thank you. I try! Still workin' on it.
👍
Oh yes, as they rise in popularity we'll need Julie's rock historian perspective. Rebecca is in a state of true bliss in this video.
Miss hearing Rebecca play mandolin, she rocks it❤❤❤
Yes. She's a pro!
I love this song!
Me, too.
She mastered that thing at a young age. My collects dust after years of frustration 😂
Never give up. I found a tuning that worked for me after 25 years of being a bad musician and giving up. LP inspires.
This smile will free you from all prisons...
Girl you shine like nobody else lemme tell ya - great tune!
They are special.
@@JulieMeyers yah they are! My favorite band of all time!
@@jessedeville9021 Me, too. So much talent and also sweet, smart, and funny. I owe them in many ways. They've been very good to me.
I love it 😀 awesome awesome 👌 😊
Nice one. Julie. I love to see Rebecca enjoying her music so much. 🤩
That is what's special about it.
This video is so..... Rebecca! I love everything about it. Makes me grin from ear to ear!
It's because she's so enjoying playing it so much.
It's just joy to my ears 😁
The Lovells are real acoustic stars they need to publish more acoustic sessions
Beautiful !
The mando is Rebecca's instrument. She sure does know how to play it. I can see how she has won mando contests. 👍👍👍
Wish she would do it more. I love the banjo, but she should play a few with mando instead. Mad as a Hatter needs her on mando. Just not the same without it.
And I wish Megan would whip out her dobro for one song. They should do it 'old school' and acoustic for about 3 songs before Kevin and Tarka come out.
well done... and beautiful girl...
Thanks for this one Julie. Awesome
She is just fab
Friend gave me a round back mandolin in the 60's. Nice to strum.
I'd prefer the shape Rebecca plays.
This is a really nice melodic song.
My favourite mando song was on an old Rod Stewart album.
Mandolin Wind or Maggie Mae?
Love this cover, this performance. Rebecca is such an awesome musician. Thank you for posting this! :)
Thanks, but it's not a cover. Rebecca wrote this. She WAS given the riff by a friend who is a member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
@@JulieMeyers Hi Julie, are there lyrics available somewhere? Thanks
I wrote my interpretation down when I was learning the song. I'll post it later - kinda busy right now.
This is the way I hear it:
Down home diggin' in the dirt
A little hard work never hurt
Barefoot getting sunburnt
Back where she was raised
High hay and a little creek
Copperheads in the summer heat
Some the color of a Georgia peach
Back where she was raised
Daddy would always say
Mama won't you get that fiddle
Come on, burn it to the ground
Wailing like an old train whistle
That high and lonesome sound
She could play those mountain tunes
Passed to her like heirlooms
Y'all mama was little but get her a fiddle. She could turn that green grass blue
Sally Gooden' and Cripple Creek
Startin' fires with gasoline
The dogs are ugly but they ain't mean
Appalachia way
Rawhide and Rocky Top
They make fun of the way we talk
But our front doors ain't never locked
Appalachia way
Don't it make you wanna stay
@@JulieMeyersThank you Julie for all your work on this. And thank you for this channel. You're the best!
WoW Rebecca .... Momma definitely passed it down to YOU!
Awesome!!!
I don’t know if any future albums have room for covers but this certainly qualifies. Great work Rebecca.
Not really. Rebecca wrote this.
@@JulieMeyers Well. I’m an idiot. It’s awesome.
Haha. It's a great song. Glad you like it.
DAMN! So good!
Mega talent.
You don't get this good sitting around playing video games and wasting the day away on your cell phone.
Sure ! Lazy butts always get nuts ^^'D
And prodigees dedicating their life to music become people like Rebecca and Megan :) Amen !
Groovy girl!
I like this one! ✌️
It's pretty. One of the guys from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band gave the melody to Rebecca.
I love when she plays mandolin!
Wow 🌹
I bet this would make Jimmy Page Smile
Love this ❤
Lovely, I wish Rebel Yell would get back to playing the mandolin more.
I appreciate the sound of the mandolin and admire people who play it. As a lap steel player, she is very entertaining to listen to and she is made for the mandolin.
Her sister, Megan, is the lap steel player. Rebecca is mainly a guitar player now.
@@JulieMeyers I know I've been following her for quite a while Megan got me into Lap Steel. Thank you for your answer
Wish I could play lap steel. Slide is just too hard for me.
@@JulieMeyers I'm still a bloody beginner but it's really a lot of fun. It's important not to give up
@@komparative I can fake a little slide on acoustic guitar, but it's not great.
I listen to their 4 EPs all the time, so her mando playing is always on my mind...Georgia not so much! 😜
Very nice . Wish you would do more with Rhianna Giddens. Check out Town Van Zant To live is to Fly . The Cover of that on the Blue Earth CD is very much in your style.
😎🔥🤙

One of my best friends is from France. Didier Brettonel is a master musician and the greatest of friends!
Do you know, Julie, anything about Kelsey Wilson and Wild Child ?
The perfect woman
Maybe. Both Rebecca and Megan are exceptional women and great musicians!
I’m being a little facetious but she does play and sing so beautifully and naturally and you can see she really enjoys herself. She also loves to teach.
@coalcreeker583 And she wrote this song, too.
Wow.
is there a Megan version
Sorry, but no. I wish she had played on it, too.
Did she write this tune? I guess so.
Yep. She got the riff from one of the guys in Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
I m just a bit envious....none of my brothers are musiicans
Neither of my 2 sisters are musicians, but they both have great taste in music. Both have seen Larkin Poe live and recorded some great videos.
Yeah
and again my TV found Julie
