'Who I Am' (by Magni-Fi) VS. Neo Devil Doom Music Swap - Sonic X Shadow Generations

- As much as I love the remix of 'All Hail Shadow' that plays during the Neo Devil Doom boss fight at the end of Shadow Generations, I couldn't help but think that a certain other song would work a little better thematically. Seeing as how 'Who I Am' unfortunately went unused in Shadow the Hedgehog (2005), I thought it would have been amazing to finally give it it's time in the sun here at the end of Shadow's campaign, especially since it's lyrics seem to fit better here than in it's original game.
Obviously, that isn't what we got, but I figured this mock-up of the idea would be fun to put together as a birthday present for one of my friends (you know who you are).

I always felt this theme was a good representation of how Shadow feels about Black Doom, especially after this game. Black Doom is so used to getting his way from the rest of his hive mind species that he automatically expects Shadow to obey, not accounting for the fact that Shadow is his own free-thinking being, that he’s had life experiences that shaped him into something different than Black Doom would’ve wanted. No matter how much Black Doom asserts his expectations onto Shadow, Shadow knows who he is, and that will never change.
Hell yea i just recently obsessed over it because it fits so well especially since shadow has moved past I am all of me lyrically, and mentally.
When I listened to the lyrics I thought the exact same thing. Also, really good analysis you did.
Sonic Team probably never intended this, but Shadow and Black Doom's relationship is a great representation of a child growing up with abusive parental figures. The parents expect you to act a certain way and to obey them unconditionally while forcing unrealistic expectations on you. But just because you're related to them by blood, doesn't mean they control you. As people, we control our destinies and our happiness. And if anyone tries to take that happiness away, we'll stand firm and tell them: "This is Who I Am".

@@christopherford39 Yep. Radical Highway is essentially the point in the game where Shadow's rage and need for vengeance is still at its boiling point. He slowly tapers off as the game progresses due to making connections to others and his memories unfolding. Bringing him back to Radical Highway is a direct effort to mess with his mental state and encourage his destructive urges to make him easier to possess.

If only just if only they dug this up for the final boss it’s what i really desired shame they couldn’t fulfill it, but that being my only complaint besides no super shadow the game is glorious.

It's not SEGA's fault this didn't make into Shadow the Hedgehog. Magni-Fi is to blame as they wanted to save this song for their album "VerseChorusKillMe".

It is kinda weird that All Hail Shadow has become a staple of him in later games, considering that unlike I Am... All Of Me or Never Turn Back it's only indicative of Shadow in one of the routes, rather than his entire self. Not that I hate it but...
@@onyxrose4349i am all of me is specifically about the shadow in the start of 05 which is why it emphasizes multiple possibilities for who shadow is and it wouldnt work very well to represent a shadow that has already figured out again who he is
never turn back is similar because its specifically for the moment of shadow moving on from that game so i dont think either work as a main theme for shadow
all hail shadow also is odd for the reasons you said but ill argue it fits the most out of the 3 songs because while true hero route shadow and actual shadow arent the same its close enough and the song still works

I adored this game, but I was very disappointed with their choice to make All Hail Shadow the main theme of the game. All Hail Shadow just doesn't sound very good. Its melody just doesn't do anything for me, and it has extremely goofy lyrics. It's literally just saying "haha isn't shadow so cool?" This song is so much more befitting! Or if not this, I Am All Of Me is at least a banger
I Am... All of Me wouldn't work because it's more about Shadow having amnesia and trying to figure out who he is. Shadow knows he is now. As for Who I Am, SEGA would have to contact Magni-Fi to see if they could use the song. Either one or two things would happen if they did contact them. 1: They got a response and said, "No." or 2: Contacted them and got no response. It's similar to what happened with the song "Broken". Crush 40 tried to contact the lead singer of Sins of a Divine Mother to ask if A2 could perform the song but got no response. Besides, I actually like All Hail Shadow more than I do Who I Am.
@@silveraustinluna Magni-Fi as a band also broke up years ago, so that'd be even more of a mess.
