If you are into tools and equipment related to lawn care. This is the place for you. Unboxing, quick looks and reviews of lawn mower, line trimmers and any thing else you can think of. No brand is off limits, Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Masport, Ryobi, Scag, Ego, Milwaukee, Makita, Dewault, Toro and any other you can think of.
Got this as a Christmas gift. It's fantastic. Edges so crisp and neat.
I have the Ryobi 36v cordless lawn edger and it’s a really good thing I have been using it every second cut for about 3 years and I can’t fault it.
Anyone else have the original Ryobi edger and trying to convince themselves they don't need to upgrade to this HP version? 😂
😂 100%
You are my kind of people 😂
I upgraded to the brushless edger and can very much recommend it!
100% 😃
Upgrade to the new 40v combo for 159. 5 year warranty on 40v tools too. 18v is only 3.
thank you for sharing your experiences. i love the product. as you know the old petrol drive is faster and reliable. very forgiven od staling unlike brushless stalling will instantly toast your drive. meaning no warranty lol also i wish they used a larger heat sink to keep the drive motor cooler. please if anyone wants to go electric, heat is the problem when battery goes down, never swap it without waiting for drive to cool down. having a lot batteries will mean the end of the investment however if it had a good heat sink to stay cool than we have the perfect unit.
Your mate's challenging edging convinced me because mine looks like that most of the time by the time I get to it. Will def get this tool. Nothing more satisfying than a sharp edge.
Geez Tim, you're
starring in more videos lately than Paris Hilton in the early 2000's 😅😂
I know! I feel like I'm at my peak and it's all downhill from here so i'll throw all the mud at the wall at once 😂
@@turfandtools hahahaha ... love it 👍
He's even got a chihuahua! (But Maggie is cuter!)
I commend Ryobi for squeezing all they can out of their 1+ 18v system for the people that have some investment in it. I retired my Ryobi stuff to my classroom and bought Makita. Makita also still makes awesome 18v tools which is all I need.
Damn it Tim, I'd convinced myself last week that the older lower spec unit would be enough for me. I've got what could only generously be described as grass rather than a lawn, so if that's 40% more powerful I'm thinking I'm going to be spending $100 more.
Great to see a real world review of commercially available unit. Especially in the thicker, less manicured patches of lawn.
I’ve got lots of footage of me using the atom edger pro version. I’ll put a video together
My father was a fan of the Ryobi One+ system and he ended up with lots of the skins, including this, trimmer, mower, chainsaw... While I think Ryobi gear, like you say, for what it is is good if you are just playing around on a small property you are doing frequently, I wouldn't waste my own money on it. I prefer gear with capability headroom so that if I do have to deal with the tougher stuff it'll just stiffen up and charge through it. The Ryobi stuff all seems to have multiple annoying interlocks, is all creaky plasticy, and just working at it's limits with normal work, and you're always farting about swapping and charging batteries. I've had to arrange two warranty replacements with mower battery and charger and no confidence there won't be more across the range. For me, I'll stick with my Stihl Combi system. A darn sight more expensive, but a whole lot more satisfying to own and use, way more efficient with my time, and when it comes time to move them on there is a good second hand market salivating to take them off my hands to fund the replacements.
I really admire your patience and fortitude in letting the backyard edges get so long. It must be tough for a CLD.
I have the older one and love it!
I am mostly happy with this edger, but note that you must get the blade spinning before you contact the ground. Otherwise, it will stall. My electric corded edger didn't do this, so I had to change my technique a bit.
Super keen for the 36V Ozito Mower review, I've been on the fence about getting one for a while but I am already on that platform and if it's up to par I think it might replace my little petrol mower with it, would be much easier for my wife to use I think!
I’ll be honest I’m not expecting a lot. I’m generally not a fan of battery gear in that price range. Happy to be proven wrong though!
@@turfandtools I suppose we'll have to watch the video to find out the verdict! Will it make the cut!
Keep doing what you're doing mate! Thanks
Cheers,
Josh Seabrook
Thanks mate! Thats very kind
I got the non brushless 18v edger and that thing LAUNCHES rocks lol. I have to hold it barely to the dirt just enough to cut and fire in short bursts/pulses. If the brushless is 40% stronger I'd need insurance for all the car windows in the area (not including hitting people)
Thanks for the review. I think that might solve the problem of not getting my edges nice and neat with a line trimmer.
Flipping a coin on these 2 units due to budget so will watch with interest. I am generally known for going for more power than less. Thank you.
Hey Tim, awesome vid. Any chance you can do a review of the Makita edger? Keen to see how it compares to ryobi. Cheers
I didn't know they had a dedicated unit?
Yeah it comes as an attachment (unlike the ryobi which has a complete unit for it)
Little sharp line there.👌
Wow, that is just what \i am after. Brilliant. Tell me I have some large garden pots on the grass and of course the grass grows up the side of them, as lawn mower wont do it. Would this edge clear that grass do you think?
So you recommend going this one over the older one?
Awesome Tim! Love the reviews.
Amazing video! Love the review. What is the multi tool you refer to? I have the HP edge trimmer and thinking of getting this as well, but now you have mentioned the multi tool!
Multi tool is just a power unit that you can put different attachments on like a line trimmer, blade edger or hedger.
Ahh looks good. I’d be keen to see you use the 36v version plus there big boy one
I've done a vid on the 36v 3 wheeler. My neighbour now uses it for his corner block
@@turfandtools they also have it in this version as a 36v. I’ve seen the 3 wheeler one but they’re pricey
Loving the content across all of your various channels mate. I'm wondering what your suggestion might be for folks who can't stretch to buying even the more affordable DIY units. My curb is a disgrace. I've tried a hatchet (back and knee braking work and blunted it quickly), a shovel (coming in from under and from on top) but this proved ineffective (poor technique I'd warrant), any tips or suggestions would be most appreciated?
Buy a cheap saw and try that mate.
Huh!? I never even thought of that. I'm sure my neighbours think I'm weird already... What could a little more hurt! My back is feeling a little too un-spasmy at the moment! 😂
I wish I could give you a solution but power is generally mine sorry
Man...that thing does better than my ego one
At the same price point, should I just purchase the 36v Ryobi edger (RED3600)?
Hi Turf And Tools, I enjoy watching your videos but i do have a question. We have some property in Queensland. And we use Jims Mowing to help us out. The land is flat but the grass grows very quickly. We have a tractor but just around our fence and gate and gutters we like to have whipper snip by Jims. And than we ask for them to take some palm leafs away. We have him come over nearly twice a week 52 weeks a year. So the money does add up. We was giving the guy $100 a hour and he worked for 2 hours. Suddenly this man has now asked for a increase of pay of nearly $160 a hour so for 2 hours its just over $300!! I just want to ask some advice and was wondering on what you think about this? Are we being overcharged? Or are we not paying enough?
I don’t comment on what other people should or shouldn’t be charging. It’s not appropriate as I have no idea of their business costs.
it really boils down to you mate and if you feel comfortable with the finished product at the end of the day :) it's not a good look to compare opinions on others as we all have our own costs and pricing involved in our services...it really comes to customer satisfaction at the end of the day :)
Also to add to this, as an individual he has a limited amount of time available to offer. And if his services are in high demand and people are willing to pay the higher prices then that simply means that is what his individual time is worth to his market. Whether he's only asking what he's worth is another matter of course. The point being tat not everyone will charge the same due to their personal circumstances.
Can you help me decide between 36v edger and 18v hp brushless at the same price
Just wondering what height you had it set at to start with? Thanks
I have the multi tool edger and I am very disappointed with the performance. I am not using it correctly and obviously do not have it adjusted correctly. Must go and look for a few videos on how to set them up. Just to clarify, I have never had an edge and it is just grass with some very thick leaders.
Anyone switch from the edger to rotary scissors?
Always be careful of dropping when mowing .
Got one love it
I had been looking at getting an edger like this but was undecided between the 18 and 36v versions as I have both battery types. Now this one just muddies the issue. It’s obviously more powerful than the old 18v one, but how do you think it would compare to a 36v?
I would love to tell you but I haven’t tried the 36. This thing has enough power most domestic users
Ryobi you've done it again ah need a bigger garage
Interesting !
Is that grinding noise the blade hitting the concrete? Or is it just the motor? I cant tell. How often would you be changing a blade on these?
Blade against concrete. If you’re aggressive on it like me you’ll go through a few. If it’s just your own home it should last a while. They are a consumable. Looks like they are $30. There are aftermarket cheaper options, I don’t think your warranty will like that though.
"Wll" Control SHOULD BE "Wall Control " sorry for editing goof
All I heard was crispy
Not 3 bad? Epic dad joke!
All these people in the comments calling you an Ugly Fish! How rude!
I'll keep my weed whacker.
Give away, please 😊😂 🙋♂️
Unless you need the brushless there’s no point, I have owned the ozito 18 volt cordless edger for $180 and it does the same job cuts like butter and has lasted me 3 plus years. For 300 dollars Ryobi is just not worth it
