Makes things easier for developers? Then why's it take so long to make a game? 4 years used to be the max & considered out of the ordinary. Great games were made in 3 years, good games were made in 2 & these were common. Lots of games only took a year
TLDR: Just more time to be creative instead of coding/programming most of the time. because the engine is still improving. a lot of games released today is not even made with unreals latest tech. lol Unreal engine 5.4 was just release and it will literally make devs time easier. Now they can spend more time with creativity instead of just coding to make their imagination work.

Unreal is an amazing option for indies and hobbyists and new devs. using a feature in Unreal vs remaking that functionality from scratch in another engine. what you need to do from scratch in other engine. Unreal have already done it for you.
