"The toggle still wants to be involved " 🤣.. Awesome setup and idea brother! Happy birthday Dan the man have a wonderful day!! Another awesome video as always brother 👍 💪
I’ll just vicariously winter camp through you. I don’t really have winter down here. It’s just wet and cold for a month or two, then it’s spring again.
At first I thought it was going to be two tripods supporting a crossbeam, but this is simpler, faster, and has far less fuss with even better utility. Definitely another welcome tool for the toolbox.
You’re not alone. The vast majority of people are so used to conventional ways to the point that innovation is stifled. For example, your idea was to try to keep each pot as in-line and as directly over the fire as possible; Dan’s method takes advantage of the fact that vessels can be NEXT to the fire to achieve the same results. I’ve found that more than one brain is often more than necessary to accomplish things.
Great impulse as so often - and endless varieties possible... I'm carrying a few pre-prepared wires to hang my bottle/ cans/cookware. In combination with this tip, I can already imagine a pretty lot of setups to try asap... thanks Dan and all the best to you! Take care, bro! 👍🤗
Put a tent stake notch on each tripod leg towards the top.. hang a line with a toggle & you can put all pots over the fire evenly & if ones done you can kick on leg out. Or you can just put 2 tripods opposite sides of the fire & have a stick going across doin it rotisserie style.
Because of you!!!! I redid my (surviavl bag/ get home)!lol grrrrrrr lol seriously thanks for making your videos fun and simple and reminding us that common since aproach !!love your videos keep them coming please! !!! Merry Christmas btw!!!
Oddly, this helped me figure out another awesome use. I’m tired of being a bad shot and ruining plate stands. I have a bamboo madness growing and I started using it for tripods. But the plate constantly rotates hanging from the top. So, one more piece and I can have a solid platform. Thanks!
A cheap way to do this, instead of the blacksmith hooks, is to use a short hank of line with a toggle. Put a loop in the end of the line big enough to go over the toggle. Then you set your toggle on your pot, run the end of your line over the crossbar and use the loop in the end of the line to grasp the toggle again. Basically you're just making a larger loop to hang your pail. Trust me it works. And there are many variations you can use. All you need is a toggle and a bit of line. Thanks.
Happy Birthday, Dan. Thank you for all the great videos, ideas, and tools for our toolboxes. Hope you're enjoying a nice hot mug of boil-o or some other warm alcohol-laden winter beverage.
I want to see things in operation. It's my assumption the tripod is mad high to keep it out of the flames but you have made it closer. Also what kind of wood? The stick? What about the weight? See it in operation please
I have a variation of this instead of attaching the stick. Take 2 fish hooks and attach them to the spots that you would have attached the stick then we can place a stick in the hooks for more maneuverability of the tripod. Just an idea.
I wouldn't want that many pots on the go at once. I'd definitely ruin dinner! Is that tarred bankline holding the toggle? I'd be concerned it might drip tar or catch light when I added wood to the fire.
OK, something I say should be carried by anyone who cooks in the woods....3-4 feet of stainless steel cable, the type you use to hang a mirror or picture frame on the wall. It will NOT burn up in a fire, you can hang pots with it or you can wrap a log that is split 4 ways for a Swedish Torch fire. You can also shackle zombie dinosaurs with it.
Not a bad trick if a tripod is all you have. But why not just bring a fire grill? Tripods are clumsy enough even with a single pot, trying not to spill the contents or burn yourself in the process of adjusting the heat or trying to stir it.
Save the s hooks from broken rubber bungee straps. Add a short piece of chain. Great information as always. Thank you. 😊

Excellent tip! Thank you Sir!
Excellent. Always great tips!
Nice idea!
Great hack, generally I would just stack a few rocks here and there to accommodate heating like you said and lol there's your pot in the fire.
Good idea , I have to use this one !
Brilliant!

Pretty awesome, thank you dude
Good one!👍
Freaking brilliant
Nice tip-hack
Hey Dan, how would you store your food away from bears when your out deep in the woods?
If a bear gets near my food, then bear becomes food.
Why would you crack coal?
Make a few hooks like that from old wire coat hangers.
I’m sorry, this is so funny! I’m glad he told us to COME BACK from getting a stick!
Hell yeah.
Smart !♡👍

Don't like tared bank line for that. Tar ran down the string and driped into my pot.
Simple chain from the hardware store and S Hooks. Adjustable as well
Or pick up some picture frame wire if you want to keep it light weight. 👍
@@downeastprimitiveskills7688 yup I think we all have one of those too.
@@richjoebushcraft sure and it doubles as snare wire. These chains are small, window sash chains. they work very well and don't take up much space.
Wow! You said “use” instead of “utilize” once!
👍
👍👍👍

Hey, bud. My sounds system was turned up way too high for all that metal clanging. There will be no more of that😡.
(Kidding. Do it again😄)
WTF.....How much more does it take to get you to go Camping beyond your property's Gate? 😕
