Have a small resealable plastic bag. Add the flour, salt and lard. Seal the bag and then massage the lard and flour together from outside the bag - no mess! Open the bag, add the water, seal the bag. Knead the mixture inside the bag and roll it out!
The kitty stole the show 😀. Looks delicious Dave. Can't wait to try out my bushpot and other tools from your and Shawn Kelly's self reliance outfitters page. Cheers
Have made something similar. Added a pinch of cinnamon to the brown sugar and mixed as a thick syrup. Put on biscuits like they were pan cakes. Grand kids love them.
Thanks Dave, great vid! I love the dry bag as the countertop and the water bottle as the rolling pin, priceless. I wasn't really hungry when I started this video...thanks...lol
What gorgeous kitty! I have a male silver tabby named Blaze who also loves to interrupt me whenever I'm cooking something, as well. Great video, btw. Cheers!
Hello Mr.Dave, I'm from India 🇮🇳 !!!!! I'm a big fan of you since 2010 😍❤️❤️❤️😘, and you're 😎 !!!!!!! This is one very useful and informative video 🙏❤️❤️❤️ !!!!!!!
love you Dave, You have been a great role model for me. Thank you for being who you are. I'll see you in august at the scout class this year. God Bless
Dave will you please do a series on dealing with bugs in the outdoors. Especially mosquitos, and other biting flies/fleas. I love the outdoors and I know how you dress in the outdoors matters and that OFF works. You might not always have OFF. What other things can a person do in the outdoors to help repel these bugs without covering yourself completely with mud to keep them from covering you from head to toe with bug bites. It's always convenient to "just go back inside" when you can, but what do you do when you cant.
Your the man Dave! I’m an old Alabama country boy trying to get folks to be more self reliant in these perilous times. Your outdoors videos have inspired me in sharing my own outdoor and country living experiences. Thanks inspiring us all!
Great video my friend. That looks like a great set up. I didn’t realize how easy it is to make a biscuit. I love the way you cook it in the bush pot using a little grill. Nice to see your buddy back with you again. God bless you Dave. John
So appreciate you sharing. Not only are all your recipes (especially corn meal...my mom and dad made mush) great for outdoor cooking they will serve you well in times of hard grocery supply! Thank you for your work.
Buter flavor Crisco makes a good biscuit presoak some MRE raisins and add a few to your dough with a little bit of cinnamon .. 😋😀 really like this video Dave, thank you 🤗🤐
Great Video Dave! I have to say, it is great to see you doing videos again! I started watching you just before the journal's of the yurt. Now I have a grandson who will be 7 next week! I get to hang out with him tomorrow so his Dad (my son) can work O.T. That leaves my with teaching my grandson how to make biscuits in the bush, plus the Morels are biting hard right now so it may be golden morels in the biscuit instead of Brown Sugar Spread. Thanks for spreading the knowledge. My Grandson thinks I'm the coolest thing in the world, and I give all the credit to you Dave!
A little cinnamon would give some spice to your brown sugar. Think I'm going to like this cooking series (and looks like I need to add a bush pot to my kit)!
Awesome job making biscuits, it's good to see a man that can cook for himself! I loved the little gadgetry cooker and sounds of the forest! Beautiful kitty too!
Looks good Dave! Love my bush pot and skillet! I might add that I've also developed a love for an sos pad when it comes time to cleaning them too! Lol! Atb Sean
Bring along a baggie full of powdered gravy, just add water, and you can have biscuits and gravy. Best gravy I have found is the Morrison Country Style Peppered Gravy Mix at Walmart. It makes a better gravy than I can make myself. No affiliation or anything with that company, it is just good.
Nice video Dave! Just put in an order with you guys earlier and now you’ve got me wanting to put in another one lol great little cooking set there I like the addition of the Sierra cup and I’ll definitely be trying this biscuit and brown sugar breakfast next time I’m in the bush. God bless
Those were some grand looking biscuits! That brown sugar spread is some good stuff indeed! Thank you for the shoutout on the last one brother! (Zon is gonna take over the PF School lol!)
Looks delicious and I like the idea of a bushpot as a reflector oven, I always use mine with the lid when baking. As a Canadian I never got the whole biscuits thing despite lots of trips through the US but then again, bannock was what I grew up with so that's what I aim for and ain't a huge difference ultimately. One thing that stood out besides the food was how you treated the cat. I've seen a few people get frustrated with their animals when there's food out like that and the way you handled that critter was excellent.
Hey dave I never thought of brown sugar with lard. That looked really good. Im gonna try that. Maybe add a pinch of cinnamon. Gotta say, kitty was cool to..lol..While i was watching this, i looked over at my cat on the window sill, looked back to the tv and back to my cat. They look exactly alike. I mean EXACTLY..if my cat wasnt next to the window right now, id swear that was him..haha..same personality to. Id sit on the couch and eat something. He would jump up here and put his two front paws on my leg and just stare at me..haha.. Thanks for the drop and the idea. Im definitely gonna try it..
I accidently clicked the notification for this video. I have no regrets, I had forgotten how much I love these videos.

Using a bottle as a rolling pin is so smart and using the lid as a cookie cutter too !
Good info, I'm learning about baking on a fire. That spread really brought out the wildlife!
Clearly that cat is no rufus. Rufus gets all the snacks. Lol
I love all your cooking videos Dave.
Every time I follow I have good eating.
Thanks for posting.
I always gift your products to family and friends with a how-to attached. Thank you for solid gear and know-how.

Thanks for showing how to make an oven and biscuits.
Dave, like the kit. For field biscuits I've always cut them with my belt knife. No need for a cutter.
I like the stick handle extension idea
