I use 'em both (Solid Studio & Atlantic), along with the Masamune Compressor/Boost dual and a few other pedals, including the very cool NUX Monterey Univibe, and my DI tone is good. NU>X has really lifted their game.
Review from a 2 months user: I have the solid studio and use it with a Hugues and kettner tubeman preamp (real tube) and it sounds great with my solid state amp. It changed the dynamics a lot. Of course I turn the cab IRs off into my guitar amp but I use the IRs for recording direct. Go buy it, it’s great professionnal studio gear. Tube tone but with control over the volume for bedroom players.
I've been carrying gear to gigs for years... amps and drum kits, PA's etc etc. This is all about the footprint. No carrying 4x12 cabs or combos up steps. Compromise... If you don't have roadies for your stadium gig... this is fantastic if your carrying your own kit. Bedroom purists can enjoy their Bassmans and Twins and I'll carry my pedal.
So many elitists that talk crap. Why all the hate for brands that actually provide good products for people with a lesser budget than you can afford? NUX actually has great reviews, specially their Cerberus. And their drive core actually sounds almost if not the same as the legendary tubescreamer, and boost it a bit if you want more. Perhaps your all just pissed cause now people who don't have as much money as you but have better skills can now sound great with cheaper gear. Let's face it, not everybody that can afford a petrucci guitar will be able to play like him, but that's ok, just don't talk crap about people providing products for people that can't afford as much as you can but actually work great and give satisfaction to the people they provide to.
Wow. I wasnt going to post anything. Scrolled down to read comments for extra info on this pedal and noted the venom expelled by some. But hey, its social media. What can you do? Your post is right on.
Thanks, that was great. It's refreshing to have someone demo a pedal without resorting to a high gain noise-fest! We can actually hear what the pedal sounds like without it be wrapped in a blanket of noise.
For those who don’t know, an impulse response is what your pedals use to filter their input (the filtering is done by convolving your input sound with an impulse response), so saving the impulse response can let you apply the pedal’s effect to any audio
This was better than another vid I saw where it was just distorted guitar. You showed it works for clean sounds using some ambiance. Did lack some variety but still useful! And very lovely playing, too. In the 90s we had the Sans Amp pedal, but this is definitely an advance over that! Thanks! Nice shirt too!
I was thinking “I haven’t seen a sexy green PRS in a while” so I came to your channel and APPARENTLY I’m not supposed to be subscribed to you. Thanks UA-cam you’re great
I like the Atlantic, not sure about the IR amp box. Probably great as an amp backup where you have a PA and monitors. Iv'e been around long enough to see plenty of amps crap out on stage regardless of they being Tube or Transistor.
I would like to get one of these possibly, but I'm broke for like every situation lmao. That does look like it can do anything indeed my man. Tyler goes from John Mayer mode to Tosin Abasi mode at 5:47
Ye I know, but I'm talking about the guitar playing style. He goes from the smooth fingerpicking that I associate with John Mayer, to the full blown tapping that I associate with Tosin.
I'm surprised that with the drive turned up so high that the amp wasn't breaking up. It seems to behave like it's just the power amp stage of these amps.
It is just the power amp, it isnt an amp modeller just a power stage and speak simulater. If you want to use it properly a preamp or preamp pedal is a good idea. A cool way to run it would be a tube preamp either using your effects loop or a proper tube pre and then use this as the power section and speaker cab or for stereo with your amp run the effects loop out into a stereo pedal and use this as one side and the power section and speaker of your amp as the other side (fx loop in).
Not bad! Even after witnessing Tyler put these pedals through their paces, I'm still like eh, that's a lot for one little pedal to handle... then the other part of me is like crap, should I be selling most of my gear just to have 2-3 mega pedals? MEGAPEDAL, new leader of the Decepticons.
Excelente revision. Sin embargo me queda duda si se puede conectar como en un amplificador real (pedales de distorsion en el preamp y el reverb delay en loop de efectos)?
I have this pedal. It's sound really good. Solid-built and good design (in fact, the design is a ripoff of Strymon pedals). My complain is that it has a digital noise when you activate the amp sim, like a hum. Also, the software to load IRs still is not that good. They need to improve that part imo.I paid 200 USD for it. I like this pedal for its usability. Latency is not noticeable, feels very natural to play with directly to the recording interface. It's great for what you pay. 9/10 (just because the software experience and the digital hum) . Still, it is what I expected. Hope this helps.
Is the nut / setup okay on that PRS? I seem to hear the high E or B ring out with some uncleanness / zing. One of my Indonesian guitars have the same issue - might be my ear tricking me. Listen the chording at 7:22 something is not nice on the top. Apart from that, I like the sound of the product actually. All these cab/IR/amp sim pedals start to grow on me, I am considering getting one...
Do I need a pre-amp to use with this unit? I hear some other people saying that it needs it, but doesn't it have a basic preamp built in just for signal leveling? Thank you so much for your content!
You don't really need a preamp with this. It has an emulation of three power tubes. Read the manual and see how to can connect it! I use mine as a simple amp and cab simulator with headphones when I'm practicing with my secondary pedalboard, but when I'm recording, that's where the pedal it's very useful! I use an attenuator to lower my amp's volume to silent. Then I put the NUX Solid Studio in the amp's FX loop and I can record my amp with the IR's that are loaded into the Nux Solid Studio. So basically, I can record my loud amps silently with an easy setup.
Before. It’s a cab sim. Think of it like an actual cab. Would you mic the cab and run a distortion pedal after a real cab mic’d and run to the board? Obviously that would be ridiculous. (I’m not being sarcastic, just pointing out the logic in a straight forward way). So yeah, run it like a traditional rig. Put an over drive first, filled by a distortion pedal if you use it. Then a preamp pedal which mimics the first stage of your amp, as in the preamp. That goes through the power amp section which this pedal emulates with the right switch on, and then finally the cab switch. That goes direct to the board.
So how would you use this if you don't yet have a studio set up? I have a Samsung Chromebook 3 and no sort of speakers. I am guessing you are plugging DI into your interface. Which for me means I should get myself an interface and a compatible machine before I spend any money on this. might still scooop up that Atlantic though.
Yea, you'd get an interface and go direct. But you're right about compatibility and other purchases: getting the right interface, DI box, cables, speaker monitors, mild sound treatment for your room for listening enhancement - the question you really need to ask yourself is "are you buying these items anyways?" If so, then you can consider buying this $200 pedal after all that vs. downloading free IR's, or even paying $30 for a package of Celestion IR's. Scarlett Focusrite interfaces/Countryman DI/geistnote cables or whatever balanced cable would be fine/Acoustic Foam Egg Crate Panel from Amazon have all worked amazingly for me, and I don't even have a really fancy set-up (hoping to upgrade my monitors at some point).
You should have lowered the master volume on the pedal so it wasn't louder than your clean sound. Now everyone is tricked into thinking the pedal sounds better.
I use 'em both (Solid Studio & Atlantic), along with the Masamune Compressor/Boost dual and a few other pedals, including the very cool NUX Monterey Univibe, and my DI tone is good. NU>X has really lifted their game.

Thanks so much for demoing this with clean tones. Just what I needed to know.
Still too much noodling and way too little chord work to help decide if or if not I want this.
I've been carrying gear to gigs for years... amps and drum kits, PA's etc etc. This is all about the footprint. No carrying 4x12 cabs or combos up steps. Compromise... Haters always believe the logos instead of ears.
Couldn' t agree more!
Wow. I wasnt going to post anything. Scrolled down to read comments for extra info on this pedal and noted the venom expelled by some. But hey, its social media. What can you do? Your post is right on.
Agreed. Nux make great pedals and don't charge stupid prices for them.
Yeah, my Nux Atlantic lasted a full three months before the tap delay stopped functioning.
Thanks, that was great. It's refreshing to have someone demo a pedal without resorting to a high gain noise-fest! We can actually hear what the pedal sounds like without it be wrapped in a blanket of noise.
Thank you for the classy clean sounds - great playing and good video...👍
best video about this pedal, in other videos people start playing but don't explain what is this about thank you man
I just imagined how goot it will sound with my new jazzmaster. thanks man

Nice shirt too!
That PRS is so hot, man. I'm so happy for you
Sounds damn interesting, I might get one of them if they are cheap enough 😂😂
TheFULLMETALCHEF wow that more expensive than my guitar...
Fantastic your musicianship
NuX has some really sweet pedals. I have all mini core series, cheap and get the job done. I'm really looking forward for these new pedals.
I was thinking “I haven’t seen a sexy green PRS in a while” so I came to your channel and APPARENTLY I’m not supposed to be subscribed to you. Thanks UA-cam you’re great
Always look forward to these videos

Tyler goes from John Mayer mode to Tosin Abasi mode at 5:47
Dude, it's Midnight by Joe Satriani :-).
Ye I know, but I'm talking about the guitar playing style. He goes from the smooth fingerpicking that I associate with John Mayer, to the full blown tapping that I associate with Tosin.
This pedal has a lot of interesting effects.. like the effect of creating a lawsuit for ripping off Strymon’s design.
Strymon has a pedal like this? Called?
Nice shirt! I’m excited for the Yellow Submarine 50th anniversary!
That is quite literally insane....wow, I cannot believe that something like this exists...in a pedal!!!?
It's funny you say you're not a "thinker." I mostly watch you because you're a "thinker" (at least to me), lol. Great Stuff
So you can run it straight to a speaker cab.??? That would be great 🔊🎛
Mike 369 or headphones.... thinking bedroom amp???
You can't run it into a speaker cab. It literally IS a speaker cab without the load.
Saarang Narayan You can, just turn off the cab/mic function
Devi Drogt 👍
Will it power the speaker cab the same way an amp head will?
Pretty cool!I've not seen much on these! Thanks for sharing brother!
Hey, that does sound really good. Nice one.
I'm surprised that with the drive turned up so high that the amp wasn't breaking up. It seems to behave like it's just the power amp stage of these amps.

as far as i know, you are supposed to use a preamp before any impulse response cab sims..
I thought so too, but this sounds pretty darn good.
I really like the fender sound. May need to look into that!
Your playing in this video was very inspiring
I liked the delay , i hated the cabsim and loved the playing, especialy the tapping part !
Excelente revision. Sin embargo me queda duda si se puede conectar como en un amplificador real (pedales de distorsion en el preamp y el reverb delay en loop de efectos)?
In the near future we won't be playing fender/Marshall, or axe FX/Kemper but Chang xi and su tze Chiang
I love you shirt!!! Yellow submarine!!
Sounds delicious!
You are really an inspiration I play guitar to
Very nice sound !!!
If you get the chance check out the Mooer Radar pedal it does everything this pedal does and more. Please if you get the chance do a video.
We've been using NUX solid studio in our live sessions and it sounds awesome! Checkout our channel to hear how it sounds on a whole band ;)
Lo usan directo a la consola el nux solid studio?
Nice sounds.......pretty interesting. Might look into this a little more.
Hi Sir, just asking, where did you connect your Nux? TIA
I told my bank account I was done buying guitar pedals.
I have this pedal. It's sound really good. Solid-built and good design (in fact, the design is a ripoff of Strymon pedals). Pretty sure the solid studio came out before the stryman
the big mistake in this review is: he doesnt use a guitar preamp...thats why everything sounded thin and harsh
That was my doubt. If this is a power amp, you'll need a preamp, right?
@@kekomixtli right!

nice explanation, again Tyler.
Awesome shirt dude
Under 1k squad where you at? Great video I loved the sound of the pedal
Love the cheecky "midnight" riff

WoW...I love your shirt💖💖💖

Baroque! Cool gear and great demo sir. Satriani fan here as well :)
Nice Yellow Submarine shirt! ;)
holy fuck i need it
Hi do u using the delay reverb stereo out put? And where they going to? I just saw one input from the solid studio

We all live in a yellow submarine! (Tyler’s shirt)
At 5:48, how do your taps sound so clean without any fret wrap?
I just bought myself a gretsch g2024t and it is sexy
Which one do I buy ? The nux solid studio, or the mooer radar? I don't know yet.
Don't know about the mooer, but i have the nux and it is truly solid and really sounds great
Start making beatles stuff [yeah i see your t-shirt]
If you were to chain these with a good distortion pedal, would you put the dist. before or after?
Physical pedal before, or digital pedal in vst form after-the-fact.
Before. It’s a cab sim. Think of it like an actual cab. Would you mic the cab and run a distortion pedal after a real cab mic’d and run to the board? Obviously that would be ridiculous. GoddessIn Triptych thanks! Good advice
If this device sounds like that without a preamp I am getting one!!!
Would the bb preamp be a good one to pair with this?
I want one!
You should have lowered the master volume on the pedal so it wasn't louder than your clean sound. Now everyone is tricked into thinking the pedal sounds better.
Absolutely. They nearly all do it. Annoying.
0:22
Trey Xavier approves... so does Glenn Fricker
haha nice job on midnight dude!
Nice.
Which is better, analog ADA GCS or Digital Nux solid?
Why do you keep saying "New-exx" when it's clearly pronounced "Nucks"?
It's actually "New-exx" but most people call it "Nucks"
I've always called them nucks as well. The new logo is clearly trying to dissuade non new-ex mispronunciations, but I'm nucks-er for life.
Right it rhymes with sucks
There's an arrow between the NU>X it's "new X"
Can you run the Atlantic in a pedal board?
Het Tyler do you think Telecasters are good Cuz I wanna bug new guitar and Tele looms nice?
KRS-TWO thx bro
I really like the looms of Teles
Beginner here - What exactly is a cab?
Caleb Rice short term for speaker cabinet.
It's the gigantic Black thing below an amp head
We all live on Tylers wacky shirt
Does the amp modeller on the NUX Solid Studio react well to overdrive pedals?

Here you are.
Awesome! Thanks!
where can i cop that yellow submarine shirt
Anyone try these with electric acoustic guitars? Piezo quack relief wanted. Thanks
Nice
👏👏👏
Nice shirt
What’s that at 5:44 when he flicks the neck?
No drive tones? Kinda missing the point as cab sims that sound good with drive are essential. Surprised it's just clean stuff. Cool otherwise
ua-cam.com/video/sqsIa2B-u_8/v-deo.html
Nice Satriani
Cool, But I will keep my two notes Torpedo C.a.b, and my Two notes le Lead
It's possibile connection cabinet for guitar?
What headphones do you use?
Did he play midnight by joe satriani??
My DigiTech Element XP is far superior!!
