Miku is totally fearless! Being up onstage, it’s difficult to see their tinyness. But at their NY Grammercy Theatre show, during her fan interaction time, Miku jumped down off the stage and strolled out onto the floor amongst the crowd and COMPLETELY disappeared! Her head comes up to people’s chest so once she walked past the first couple of guys you just heard this adorable disembodied voice meandering through the crowd instructing them to get more hyped!🤯😄💪🏻🤘🏻
One of the nice things about that was how respectful the crowd were and how they parted to give her space. She is a force of nature to be sure.
Saiki, the main vocalist, was ON FIRE for this one. Your overall description really nails it. They all compete for the spotlight while never getting in the way of each other's spotlights. Few bands can pull this off like they do.
They are Giants amongst all others... NAMASTE
I have been listening to Rock n Roll since the days of Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. Band-Maid is the best RnR band I have heard in years. Western bands became artificial, too much autotune, backtrack and dependent on session musicians. Band-Maid and other Asian bands I have discovered are talented, professional and real. Live is their element, that's why they are singers and musician to perform in front of audiences.
Yes, all of them are somewhere around 5ft to 5ft 3in.

Yes. They are something else. And l mean that in the most talented, charismatic, engaging and surprising way possible. Can't wait for things to get back to some semblance of normal. The Governor said today we might get our walking papers on 22 May here in California. I know they have extended it in Japan as well. Stay safe as you possibly can. You know who loves Band-Maid.

They have over 80 great songs.
For amazing structured chaos, I like SCREAMING (Live), Blooming (MV), Puzzle (Live), YOLO (Live or MV) and Moratorium (Live, this actually leads directly into Puzzle Mentioned above). Also Secret My Lips (Live or MV).
For amazingly written instrumental - Onset (Live) and a perfectly written song - Daydreaming (Live has an extra piano intro by lead-guitarist Kanami over the MV).
Choose Me (Live at Zepp Tokyo 2018) has an extra Jazzy intro over the MV. My favorite version of that song. It’s also a good show case of how much fun and energy they still have at the end of a 2-hr, 26 song concert (2 hrs is their norm).
For fun on stage, Don’t you tell me (Live), turn me on (Live), Take Me Higher (Live), Freedom (Live). For fun (they formed an alter ego band for April Fool’s Day!), Secret Maiko Lips (MV) and Gion-Cho (MV).

Very well said! Glad you liked Saiki’s voice, she’s such a passionate singer and great performer! Welcome to the world of Band-Maid!
She's tiny indeed - seing them IRL is quite a shock, you feel like Aragorn with the hobbits (doesn't mean they have weird ears and feet though). But on stage, they're really commanding and charismatic, it's amazing. They worked a lot on their stage presence and it shows. About Saiki, she needed polyp surgery in 2017 and since then she works with a voice coach. Her voice has become stronger (here, it's the 22th song of the show, and they had played the same show the day before !!! ) and she uses it with a lot more nuances now. Backing vocals by Miku are part of the Band-Maid sound too.

Yeah I noticed the change in Saikis voice, didn't know about the polyps but I did think she must have been putting a lot of work into it to make it stronger and a bit harder edged. They just get better and better, really looking forward to seeing them live when next they come to the UK.
Love Saiki's voice. they have such great chemistry. its why i rate them above a lot of the other groups out there.

screaming can be great when done with a purpose and in certain contexts, but yeah chaotic screaming is a turn-off for me as well.
I recommend their song "AWKARD" live version or "Daydreaming" if you want some ballad songs from them. You won't regret it 😉

People have their own preferences when it comes to what sounds good. Saiki has a lot of fans who appreciate her vocals and that is the important thing! :)

Saiki is amazing, the skinny girl has a powerful & beautiful voice along with charisma and stage presence. Kanami is the master of riffs and shredding. Akane is a force of nature behind the drum kit. FYI, all the live performances from this Feb 2020 show are fantastic. You should invest in a good set of headphones for your music reviews.

BandMaid started in 2013 from Miku (2nd singer & 2nd guitarist) liking hard rock but loving clothes at her Maid Cafe job. But this band had a series of videos at the end of 2012, seeming to make fun of men who don’t understand that cute can also be powerful. Can’t help but wonder if they inspired her?!
