Honestly ..... seeing this makes me "nostalgic sad". I grew up watching this beautiful hand drawn style. Admiring the skill of drawing tens of hundreds of thousands of pics , the shading , the detail... the sheer fluidity. The more digital we've become the lesser the detail and simpler the designs have become. Sure the colors were less vivid and saturated compared to today's bolder color design but we never noticed , we were too busy awe struck by the smaller details like in Akira when the glass Sky Scraper shattered. Someone drew ALL that . Someone drew that glass cracking , shattering and falling , heck some of the glass twinkles as it's falling to show the light still reflecting through it. In the end tho we gave up Complicated skilled work for simplicity and convenience.
This, Evangelion, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, the entirety of Studio Ghibli, Spriggan set my standards for animation incredibly high when I was a kid Probably shouldn't have been watching it as a kid for other reasons
