      I see Ganon and Ganondorf as two separate entities. Ganondorf is the Warlock, and Ganon is the Patron. And in this tapastry, Ganondorf is turning against his Patron, because he's sick of going insane over and over. However he gets infested with Malice during the fight, because he's still capable of feeling hatred. Hatred for the Hylians, because they were treating the Gerudo so poorly. So he died from the Malice Plague. And the reanimated corpse we see in the trailer is gonna be another blight. And Ganondorf has his shit together in his ghost form.

      Not if he was just "Ganondorf, newborn Gerudo King" who was beckoned as a hero to stop "The Calamity" but precisely ended up getting lured by it. That would be a twist on the traditional Aghanim/Ganon, Ghirahim/Demise, Zant/Ganondorf trope of having a demon servant and its master, who ultimately are one and the same. If the theory is true then the prophecy is not wholly accurate as it's told in BotW, but Calamity Ganon IS defeated, cuz Ganondorf confronts it but succumbs to it as a host and Zelda binds it. It became taboo and Ganondorf's role in it was downplayed to cover up the fact that he was sealed away under the kingdom. That would then be the mistake Link is set up to make in BotW 100 years in the past and in the present of playing the game. The fortune teller mentioned in the diaries of Hyrule Castle either had an agenda to revive Ganondorf, or they simply believed that the Calamity could be repressed for eternity if Link and Zelda grew strong, not knowing that Ganon would be ready to overtake the Shiekah technology or that it was premature of Zelda to get so much spiritual training early in her life.
      It would also share a "Ganondorf" motif that was in Ocarina of Time: Where there is a premonition and by trying to prevent it Ganondorf gets exactly what he wanted, like when Link was "destined" to stop Ganon, and Zelda wanted them to take the spiritual stones before Ganon could, but ending up giving Link access to the Door of Time prematurely, and letting Ganon get to the Triforce in the very same plan that was thought to keep it away from him.

      I don't either, but I think the "mysterious" clothes in the trailer will be a reference to the old hero of 10.000 years ago, and I think that old hero was actually Ganondorf. And it's a "heroic" Ganondorf who ended up becoming Calamity Ganon, and Zelda of 10.000 years ago sealed it away underneath Hyrule Castle. Then that became a prophecy about a "Princess and a hero who stopped Calamity Ganon". Might not happen but I could see them doing that. It's not too convoluted compared to some of the time-travely stuff they did in Skyward Sword (same director) but ofc, occam's razor would still be "Ganondorf is just Ganondorf aka the bad guy".
      But I mean... it would even explain why the Gerudo abhor "Vai" so much. If they had their rare "male born every 100 years" back then, and he was their mascot, but he became a disgrace to Hyrule, that would probably be a mark of shame. And then they don't fancy the idea of every male-born being a worthy king for them.

      I think the most plausible explanation for the clothes in the Shrine of Resurrection would be that Ganondorf was a child when he was fighting the Calamity, but got infected with the Malice plague. He turned out a hot jock when he was an adult, however the Malice Plague just kept weakening him, until he died from it when he was 30. His ghost form looks like the hot rehydrated Ganondorf, so there's that.
      It would also look cool if Link and Zelda travelled to the past, and saw Ganondorf while he's alive: hot Gerudo dude, ripped af, but has Malice spots. His Malice infested arm is covered with the arm piece of the Desert Voe set, while a quarter of his face is just Malice. It'd look cool, but would make for a tragic story about a former hero battling disease.
      Ever since BotW Ganondorf hit puperty, he constantly had the flu. He was always coughing, always sneezing, and always weakened. When he started sneezing and coughing malice, that's what caught the Sheikah's attention. Well, at least the attention of the rebellious Sheikah that would later develop into the Yiga Clan, but these Sheikah did their best to treat Ganondorf's condition. They only came up with meds that he'd have to take for the rest of his life, to increase his life expectancy. Plus he had to go through daily exorcism in order to increase his life expectancy with the Malice Plague.
      When he hit his 20s, pink and black spots started appearing on Ganondorf. He was feeling ok when he was medicated, except he was just getting tired easily. Still with meds. When his entire arm was covered in Malice, he hid it under the shoulder piece of the Desert Voe Set. He additionally wore a gauntlet, to hide his Malice infested hand. He couldn't really hide the Malice Infested part of his head tho.
      It would be a hilarious situation tho. During battle: Ganondorf fights with his left arm, which is his dominant hand, but unfortunately the one rotted down by Malice
      His arm just falls off, and just hangs by the belt of the shoulder piece on his hip
      Soldier 1: passing out from seeing that abrupt amputation
      Soldier 2: "How did your arm get to your hip?!"
      After that battle, Ganondorf got a robotic arm from the Sheikah that served the Gerudo, and it left him with a mental scar.

    Yes I do think the skin is “accurately colored” in the tapestry: Zelda is Blonde with Yellow Skin. The Hero (or standin) is Red Hair with Red Skin. Hylians-or at least the royal family-have traditionally been shown with blonde hair and pale skin (with golden undertones in BotW), not yellow. Gerudo have red hair and tan skin that has “reddish” undertones.
    So yes. The tapestry is Accurate, that is a Gerudo in a Gerudo Garb (and it doesn’t have to be the same outfit Link is seen wearing in the trailer for the Tapestry and Corpse Ganondorf and Trailer Link to all be wearing the same style of Male Gerudo Garb.)
    Also: the Guardians and Beasts existance. WHY were they developed at all when prior Links have used the Master Sword (or other sacred blades like the Foursword) and/or sacred arrows (light or silver) to seal or slay Ganon(dorf)? There’s also how the One-Hit Obliterator is literally shaped like the head of a trident and leaches health away like the Master Sword does if it does not find Link worthy to claim it.
    My theory? The Ancient Link at some point died and was unable to confront the Calamity. This caused the Sheikah to develop alternate weapons like the Guardians and Beasts. Ganondorf also stepped up, and since he cannot wield the Master Sword (which is obscured by putting it in the Tapestry anyway), the One Hit Obliterator was developed for him to use instead along side the mecha army until Zelda could seal the Calamity.
    However, he was later betrayed (or possibly willingly sacrificed himself) when he was found to be the source of the Malice…because his body&soul are still Cursed by Demise’s Malice.
    -I still have my suspicions about That Hand and how Grabby Hands are WALLMASTERS and Ain’t Ever GOOD and Ghirahim has grabbed Like That before but whatever-
    In BotW the Malice tried reviving into a humanoid shape from an eggsack. That was NOT “Ganondorf.” That was DEMISE after the Malice largely abandoned Corspe Ganondorf eons ago. And the whole plot of SS was Demise repeatedly leaking out of a Spiral Seal with or without Ghirahim’s meddling?
    I’m just saying-it makes sense with what little we know, with the franchise lore, and it’s fresh for a gd change. And what’s darker than betrayal? Than a guy actually being innocent or hapless? It also would work with Hyrule’s Rebulding into a Brave New World-which to last would require Hyrule to confront its history and sins, as well as break the Cycle (that has as much to do with Hyrule’s Sins as it does a petty dark god demanding a rematch.)

  • @gwendolynsnyder463
    @gwendolynsnyder463 3 роки тому +9

    it would be hilarious. Especially Link's and Zelda's reaction.
    Zelda: "You're the ancient hero?! Why are you a Gerudo?!"
    Ganondorf: "Din's fire Zelda! You can't just ask a person why they're a Gerudo!"
    It would be even more hilarious if Link and Zelda time travelled, and found out that the Ancient Hero is not only Ganondorf, but also a kid. The clothes we find in the Shrine of Resurrection, meant for the Ancient Hero, are even too small for Link, meaning that the Ancient Hero must have been even smoller than Link. And it could still be Ganondorf, despite the Gerudos being VERY tall, it's just that he was a kid when he was the Ancient Hero. He was just a very gifted 5yo.

    Title itself still holds up. He matches the tapesty perfectly, I have always thought that was Ganondorf. He looks like he WAS the ancient hero and sacrificed himself to lock in the evil. And the art of him they put out today looks like a heroic depiction, not the depiction of a villian. And looking at that art, it waters down the debunking of it not being him because he either has hair wrapped around his forehead or eyebrows so long they flow into his hair, AND hes got the beard. So a good portion of his face actually is red (and I really feel like they wanted to keep us guessing like this instead of making it look EXACTLY like him, undoubtedly.) To go further with other theories today and get into crazytown, if the Demise theory is correct, then Ganondorf might not even be the villian AT ALL. We really only see the malice shooting out of him and assume the voiceover is him, but it might not be. Maybe he's just expelling it. We might actually fight along WITH him, as we seem to be able to do with others from today's trailer, which would be wild.

    • @linkenski
      @linkenski 3 роки тому

      I think the idea doesn't come from an unreasonable place though. I think it's just two different costumes but there's a theme of "time-reversal" in the abilities of your magic hand, (the stasis-backtrack ability) and the time-reversed droplet that takes you up into the sky, reminiscent of the fact that Hylians originated from civilization above the clouds, is highly suggestive of "the past".
      I don't think we are LITERALLY going back in time in the game's story, but I think that any time you're above the clouds using those droplets, it's like using the Timeshift stones in Skyward Sword, it brings you to a place that allows you to see the world from 10.000 years ago, and the "Old Hero's Tunic" is just a costume that literally is what the original hero wore from that prophecy.
      We're going forward as a sequel, but the story of the sequel will reference the truth of 10.000 years ago as a big focus of the game, is what my money's on.

    About that "clock symbol" on the Hero's Arm in the tapestry: 6:00
    I believe this clock to be the same symbol that we see on the back of his shield in the sky. 10:20
    It could also be a part of the tattoos on his body (I haven't looked close enough to tell)
    I think this symbol or what it represents (the green energy? A sky people? Courage?) will be very important in the sequel.
    Funny how this symbol went under the radar in BOTW1 and could be the single link in story from BOTW1 to BOTW2...

If Nintendo gives us a Ganondorf game some day, I want it to be a Zelda Pikmin clone with bokoblins instead of pikmin and divine artifacts instead of ship parts. I don't get the idea that Ganondorf must be redeemed. People like to point out Wind Waker's Ganondorf, but I don't buy his good guy persona, he had Hyrule in his hands in Ocarina of Time and left his people in the desert and made them suffer like Nabooru. He's bad and that's what's fun about him.

    I believe this is a new reincarnation that was a Gerudo Male born after the death of OoT/TP Ganondorf. Urbosa says there was no males born since the one that became the Calamity, but there are untold centuries probably between TP and the battle depicted on the tapestry. So, many new Male Gerudo may have been born since, as one was born every hundred years, up until the Ganondorf incarnation that becomes the Calamity. The headpiece seems to be the sign of the leader of the Gerudo as both Urbosa and Riju wear them as well, and it's been established that the Male Gerudo must become king.

    The main thing that sticks out to me about every theory I've seen on this front is that most of them _completely ignore_ the issue of BotW's timeline placement. We know that it's sometime after the rest of the series, but not how long, nor which timeline; the best theory I've seen on the subject is that we play through a version of events so far in the distant future that it (or something very close) would happen eventually regardless of which timeline it occurs in, a "fixed point in time" if you'll excuse my Doctor Who. But even that is just a theory, and to get any reasonable idea of who this version of Ganondorf might be, you _have_ to resolve BotW's timeline placement, which we just can't yet.
    My absolute best guess, assuming that this version of Ganon isn't wholly disconnected from the rest of the series with a handwave and a noncommittal grunt like so many things in BotW, is that this is the corpse of the Ganondorf from OoT. Though there are many instances of Ganon reincarnating or being destroyed and later returning, they all happen after he has shed his humanoid form as Ganondorf and become the boarlike Demon King - the only time in the series where Ganondorf has reincarnated in Gerudo form is Four Swords Adventures. We've also seen multiple instances of Ganon's power continuing to influence the world even after his death, notably in The Adventure of Link and again Four Swords Adventures (it was the original Ganon's power "transcending time and space" that created the Shadow Links, the reincarnation of Ganondorf was almost entirely separate). This would potentially be supported by the headpiece and the position of the hand-seal matching TP, as you mentioned.
    If we assume that this is indeed the remains of the original Ganondorf, a few other notable things fall into place:
    - BotW _cannot_ take place in the Downfall timeline, as Ganon shed his human form entirely and was destroyed and half-reincarnated so many times he lost his personality and intelligence by the time of the original Legend of Zelda.
    - BotW _might_ take place in the Adult timeline, but it's a stretch. While WW Ganondorf's death pose matches the corpse better than TP Ganondorf's, the hand-seal doesn't line up, and he was turned to stone and buried at the bottom of the ocean. It would take a hell of a lot happening to get where we see him in the trailer. It is the only timeline where we've seen the Rito and Koroks before, though, but that's a totally different topic.
    - BotW _most likely_ takes place in the Child timeline, as the hand-seal would match up with the wound that felled him in TP, and it would not be the first time we've seen TP Ganon's power cause problems hundreds of years later (Four Swords Adventures again). If so, that would suggest to me that after Ganondorf's death, Ganon bided his time, eventually gaining enough strength to leave behind his body and become the Calamity. Who knows how many times the cycle repeated in between; it's interesting to think that a previous Ganon could rise again after a reincarnation has taken up the name and power, but we do already see TP Ganon and FSA Ganon both influencing the world at the same time, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that this is indeed the original.
    - The ancient hero _may_ have been a reincarnation of Ganondorf, but we have no direct evidence for or against it besides the hair and skin color on the tapestry, and it seems unlikely.
    I'm also going to hazard a strong guess here and say that the theories about the game happening in two time periods and switching between are wrong. There's nothing in the trailers that seems to suggest that to me, and I don't think it would mesh particularly well with BotW's formula. I'd be happy to be proved wrong on that, though.

      The reverse raindrop animation through time back to an ancient looking area in the sky that doesn't seem to exist from below, where you can look down and clearly see areas lacking ruins that should exist, present alongside other strong theming such as a reverse-time stasis, and zonai influence who seem to be a tribe lost to time, doesn't suggest time travel to you?

    • @foxoninetails_
      @foxoninetails_ 3 роки тому

      @@warspyking No, it doesn't. It's not the first instance of floating islands hidden in the sky and invisible from the ground in the series - that's exactly what Skyloft was in SS. We do see some interesting play with Stasis and time manipulation, but that seems to be quite localized just like Stasis as time freeze in BotW1; it's a far cry from full fledged time travel. And ancient history influencing the present has always been a heavy theme in the series.
      I would much more readily believe flashbacks than time travel, but that also seems unlikely.

      @@warspyking Of course they're focusing on this "new Skyloft". The largest draw of the original BotW was exploration, the open world and freedom to approach the game however you want to. The new area to explore is bound to be the focus after that huge success. I don't think it's going to be productive to read too deeply into the reverse raindrop thing - it could be a number of things besides time travel, even just a gravity well of some sort (which would make total sense with the idea of, y'know, _flying up to floating islands_).

    all the Ganondorfs we've seen are the same man, WW and TP Ganondorf are the same Ganondorf from OOT just in different timelines, Ganon from the Downfall Timeline is also OOT Ganon, he's not reincarnated, he's being constantly sealed and revived. I think the only one that's an actual reincarnation is the Four Sword one.
    Ganondorf has a stone on his head in all his iterations as well, so this corpse having a gem on his head doesn't connect him to a specific Ganondorf. I also want this Ganondorf to be a new Ganondorf cus we've never seen, in the flesh, a reincarnation of Ganondorf, especially one that isn't born evil.
    Another thing I'll point out is OOT Ganondorf starts with round ears but 7 years later his in game model does have pointed ears, and in both TP and WW, his ears are still pointed. Though idk why his ears would then be rounded if BOTW takes place after OOT.
    As for the player BEING Ganondorf.... tldr the blonde kid is Link reliving the memories of the past hero, who is being depicted in the tapestry, the tapestry is depicitng a new reincarnation of Ganondorf.
    I perosnally like the idea of the tapestry hero being Ganondorf cus it'd be a funny little twist. With his clothes matching the tapestry *and* the player's clothing, it's enough for it to be a red herring to me. And also the big nose. And the firery red hair, which we know is definitely red cus Zelda is depicted as clear as day blonde in the tapestry. The only thing thats off with it is the green eyes, but even then Links eyes are *blue*. (however Zelda in BOTW has green eyes 🤔), and Ganon's eyes are usually gold. Also BOTW is supposedly breaking tradition and Ganon being the Hero 10k years ago is as untraditional as it can get.
    I think the person we see in the trailer is indeed Link, not Ganondorf, but instead of *time travel* we're instead *reliving the Hero's memories* through gameplay while still physically looking like Link, like how in the Champions Ballad we relive our own memories but *our outfits change* during the Blight rematches. So it's Time Travel without actually being Time Travel (even without the Ganon is the Hero bit I like this idea). It's wonky, weird and full of holes but honestly I'll take it over more time traveling and timeline splitting and Hyrule Warriors/AOC levels of weird storybeats.
    Though the people who are saying the player is Ganondorf who Physically Looks Like Link and then Physically turns into Ganondorf re really weird people, and it's kinda silly and also kind of fucked up, and I'm not associated with them.

The game could start where we left botw1 until we finally met momified ganondorf and get a flash back to explain the legend and replay it until we (the old link) finally defeated him with that arm and every remaining floating island comme down because the danger is gone. Then we snap back to present where due to the presence of link (the one we know) who is a descendant of robotic arm link ganondorf finally wakes up again (also because we defeated ganon in the first game and that give ganondorf back this extra power he needed). And then so the arm return to is master letting ganondorf free, causing the hyrule castle and some other islands to rise again to the sky because of the danger and so we have to recover the arms power and beat him again and seal him again. One part will be shorter than the other simillar to oot but im not sure wich one or maybe like in oot will got to jump back and forth in time to manage the arm. Sorry for my english i try my best.

      It has sorta been done before. However, Ganondorf has never been shown as a reincarnation before. He's the same character that appeared in OoT and WW and TP, which could make this simply a new incarnated Ganondorf after he fully died at some point. But the power of Demise still lives on, the idea that as long as there's Link and Zelda, there will be a counterpart to them that they have to take responsibility for. In ALttP, TP and Skyward Sword there's the "supervillain" and the "sub-villain". They could simply make BotW-Ganondorf a new male-born Gerudo who is the king, and who rose up to the challenge of a sudden onset of a "Calamity", but that was looking for a host, and he was bestowed some destined power like the Triforce of Power, OR, he might just have been a power-hungry corruptible Gerudo King, so that by confronting it it used him as a host and he became Calamity Ganon, and the reason he was sealed in a crypt underneath the castle with some stasis-type of spell is because that was what Zelda did once he defeated the Calamity by becoming one with it, or something like that.
      Imagine you're ganon (xD) and you want more power than you already have. You're going to stop the biggest threat to the known continent in search for more power for the Gerudo, and gain more reputation with Hyrule, that's your true motivation, not to stop evil. Then you face the villain and it goes "I am a demon, I see great potential in you. You have a heart with no room for weakness. I can bestow you with unspeakable might, and grant you infinite power." and you're like "Oh damn, this is better than getting clout with the king!" and Ganondorf's like fuck yea "I will be known as Calamity Ganon!" and shit.

    What I am curious about is the Tapestry. It's kinda ridiculous for Nayru to say that the red hair is meaningless when the person on the left we can assume is Zelda has blonde hair wearing the white robe and has a square-like face. It's accurate to the outfit Zelda is wearing after you defeat Calamity Ganon.
    So the character on the right on the Tapestry has red hair, and a triangle like face, which is also red which honestly looks like Calamity Ganon's face. Which can only lead me to believe that either 1: That person IS Ganondorf. 2: It's Link wearing the Barbarian/Zonai armor, or 3: It's a whole new character completely that fits that description of having red hair, face and skin, with a triangle like face a moblin.

Just because of the way the first trailer shows them going deep in to some place that could be Hyrule castle. That looks like its abandoned lost to time. Or we could just jump 10 years later because link and zelda found the source of malice and caused Gannon to resurrect. The goddess raised the lands again, and link and zelda have to stop him. By having link in the future stop Gannon by sacrificing his arm to seal him in the past. I don't know though it would be kind cool twist that we see in ocarina of time.

    I absolute love this Theory that I might have a idea theory even have more layers. What if Zelda is descent from Ganondorf.
    Theory
    Couldn’t be from 10,000 years, the royal family knew the calamity would come back but also knew about Gerudo and to insure a another victory. They arranged marriage to the princess and Gerudo king then mummified Ganondorf body in order to give birth to only girls.
    Proof if U want to read.
    Just think about it in ‘the spring of power flashback.’ Zelda said that her mother and grandma can hear the voice. And was 🤔 what you mean by that. Bc you’ll think that she only mention mother not the grandma.
    I find really suspicious that the royal family only gave birth to girl and no boy in botw especially they go on and on about girls being born in the royal family like it regular things; ntm they never confirmed there is a boy could born in the royal family.
    But in spirit track confirm the royal can have boy (I’m separated the two game as this happens before botw event) bc she didn’t say she help from her mother but her grandma instead. Ntm we never heard from other game that they give birth to only girl every time, for all we could they give a girl when the world is doom. It kinda left speculation.
    I rem this quote from creating a champion from pages 401. ‘According to Gerudo records there has not been another male Gerudo leader since the king who became the calamity.’
    Now from I heard this confirmed that no boy was born as a Gerudo or someone misread that and the Gerudo is actually kill off the baby boy from birth.
    I know this is far fetch and I could be wrong due to lack of evidence and everyone brings confused by me and gammer. Plz me know

    So the only think I found lacking in your argument about the tapestry is that the colors for the other images seem to be pretty close to what they actual are. They made Zelda’s hair gold and have a white dress, so there’s not really a reason I can see they wouldn’t do the same for Link. And Link’s hand is the correct color as well.
    With that said. I don’t think the character in BOTW2 is Ganondorf. But I also don’t think the person in the tapestry is Link. Or at least not Link as we know him. I think it’s a Ganondorf. One that became a hero instead of a villain. Maybe Denise and Link were reincarnated into the same body that go round?

      it would really be cool to see a different side of Ganondorf. A side of Ganondorf that doubts the pact between him and Ganon. I see Ganondorf and Ganon as two seperate entities, because in OOT, we hear from Zelda that Ganondorf is already dead when he turns into Ganon. Zelda said that Ganondorf is trying to make the castle fall into itself "during his last breaths". In Twilight Princess, he only turns back into his Gerudo form after turning into Ganon, because he was already dead.

    I think the tapestry picture with the glowing arm and red hair is actually BOTW2 link maybe he just becomes more corrupted over time eventually during the last fight he’s almost taken over. The whole game could be stopping the malice infection

  • @TanakaMatsumoto

    We definitely don't play as Ganon, and it's not Ganon in the shots that aren't showing Link's face... The ancient tapestry though.... That could be Ganon, unlikely since he wielded the master sword, but maybe that's what originally corrupted him and turned him into the evil ganon we know now. The tapestry is most likely of link when he was in Zonai times, the "zonai armor" has red hair and Link is known for receiving the garb of various races of Hyrule. I could see the Zonai liking Link for his skill and courage.

    Bit of a nitpick. You mention "the Ganondorf from Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time". We never actually see the TP Ganondorf in OoT. We do see Zelda looking in at him at the very end of the ending, but the only Ganondorf we ever see in OoT is the one who successfully entered the Sacred Realm, obtained the Triforce of Power, and ruled Hyrule for the seven years Link was in the Light Temple, until being defeated and sealed away until the events which lead to Wind Waker. TP Ganondorf was captured, "executed" (unsuccessfully, of course), and banished to the Twilight Realm before he could set into motion any of the events we saw over the course of OoT (except likely the downfall of the Deku Tree) thanks to adult Zelda sending young Link (and inadvertently the Triforce of Courage, causing other issues) back to a time before her earlier self initially met Link.

    • @NayruYT
      @NayruYT  3 роки тому +1

      They are all the same Ganondorf, just in different timelines and points in time. The only new Ganondorf (aside from potentially BotW) is the one in Four Swords Adventures. Are you just making a semantic argument?

    • @quigonkenny
      @quigonkenny 3 роки тому

      @@NayruYT Well, it's certainly a semantic argument, since they are after all **physically** both the same Ganondorf, because to simply refer to the TP Ganondorf and WW Ganondorf as "the same Ganondorf" is not really accurate, especially from a character perspective. They've been through extremely different experiences. WWG effectively "won" for seven years. Time he would have had to get familiar with the power granted him by the Triforce of Power, to plan for and research ways to get the other two thirds of the Triforce, to hone his abilities. TPG effectively had the Triforce of Power randomly given to him, then was immediately banished to the Twilight Realm, where he had to work directly through an intermediary to regain power. No wonder they show completely different demeanors in their respective games. They're effectively different characters.
