If I don't make $300 plus don't feed plus my labor my dump trailer doesn't leave my yard. If you don't make money doing it you don't need to be in the business. It's all about making money.

I have been a landlord for 25 years and I tell people getting rid of stuff is the largest part of the job. Steel goes to scrap metal. Trash goes to my dumpster where I have several homes. And tree limbs get burned. If there’s too much I call my roofer with a dump trailer. It all costs money and time!

I suspect everyone in your area is going to the same dump, so charge what you have to charge. Your key selling points are: 1) it gets done now. 2) tires on the trailer won't scrape the driveway like a container. If they moan about the price, you could always offer to take something else with you (everyone has stuff laying around they want taken to the dump). That would turn a problem into an opportunity to look good! PS: don't forget to cut off those lag bolts 😅

Congrats on a nice service business. I to run a small dump trailer business and basically use the same line of how to bill. Many people dont understand that they think that your done when you pick up the trailer. Not knowing about the variables that can happen when you go to the dump or transfer stations. 1flat tire and that can almost wipe out your profits. I agree with you on having a higher price because of the crap that's going on with the dumping side prices. Kudos to you and keep going👍

Check with America's Tire (west coast) Discount Tire on a Tire warranty... even if you purchased tires elsewhere. They let me warranty a set on my travel trailer and my SUV.

I don't think that's a lot to charge. I think it's on point it costs a ton to run the truck and trailer up and down the road! And like you said you must make a profit! So great job keep up the great work!

Great rundown on costs. Please remember to set aside a portion of each sale for equipment maintenance - on both your trailer & prime mover. For example, have $ for the tire(s) when they blow or need patched from all those nails @ the yard. If you don’t have $ set aside, your side hustle (?) comes to a halt until you can pay to get back on the road. Once you get going, you should consider hiring an accountant to help you manage your income; especially if you consider this a business. You don’t want to get upside down w/ an unexpected tax bill. Best wishes for continued success!

Have you ever thought of using it for house clearances (sort of a sideline) - far more money in that side of things as opposed to just using it for job site waste removal. I do a couple of these a year, usually old rental properties or houses where the occupiers have passed away and the family do not want to deal with all their items (it is emotional for them)
It is amazing what people get rid of these days, you can salvage a lot of the stuff and sell it on for good money as a side hustle.

It's not a side hustle when your business model is literally clearing out a any for someone else.

Ya I think there blowering smoke tho. My dump charges me by the ton and I'm normally under a ton for more loads so by time I pay dump fees witch is about $35-$45 and my fuel cost I only spend about $65-$70 so charging about $100-$125 a load is more then fair to me unless it's building materials then about $150-$175.charging Anything more then that I'm waisting my time even trying because it's hard enough for people to afford anything right now with fuel prices threw the roof.

great video, same principals for mobile diesel mechanic in which I am. my minimum to commute, troubleshoot and repair is $400, some people find it ridiculous because Julio down the street does it for $80 . well I don't have another 10 people living in the same 620 square feet apartment and pitching in to feed all 10 people. and there is a lot more involve then this example.. lol I am Hispanic by the way . the phrase or name Julio is what we all call them abound where I live.

I pay $23/ ton and everything is scaled. I only charge $150 for up to 3 tons. If I have someone who is far away from the landfill then I'll charge a little more. It's just a side hustle for me though. I really only care about the trailer paying for itself, which it usually does just billing it out on jobs without having to rent it out. I can't believe they charge you that much.

What do you do when a customer throws prohibited items into your dumpster that you left on their site for two days? Are you doing a quick audit of what they tossed in there? Are you having them sign an agreement? Are you doing a security deposit in case they toss something you know your Transfer Station will get on your case about? It would be my prerogative to respond to this customer's service request in the future, at the risk of them writing a scathing online review. Just wanted to know if that happens a lot or not? Thanks! - Tom

It's discussed beforehand and also included in my contract that the dump trailer is for construction debris only. If additional materials find themselves in the dump trailer they can pay the extra fee to dispose of it or....it's a dump trailer for a reason. I'll dump the debris back out on their property and they can pay to have it removed by someone else. It has never been an issue for me to be honest.
