- Welcome back to Going Medieval! In today's episode of Going Medieval I put the finishing touches onto my first castle build by adding a smithy and tailoring area, I moved my massive storage and added some quality of life improvements for my residents. PROTECT YOUR VILLAGERS
Your colonists have more than just raids to contend with. They need protection from starvation and the elements, so it’s essential to stock up on supplies and build shelter to keep them fed and warm. Maintain your villagers’ emotional states, as their moods are affected if their needs and wants aren’t met.
SHAPE YOUR STORY
Grow the population of your settlement by helping out strangers in dangerous situations, or by taking in like-minded travellers. Your villagers have personal histories and agendas, and you can get to know them by observing their behaviour and relationships with others.

Drae FYI the wooden beams that you setup for the outside area, You know you can use them to hold up the upper floor so you can get rid of them pillars

Hey drae, if you turn on the room overlay tab on top left corner, you can see what each room type is and what are the requirements for a room to be considered something.
like for example, if you have a room considered as shared bedroom, you will get a boost in mood if people sleep on it.
definitely try to make specialized room so that you got the buff!

what I've seen of this game so far, the game is a Medieval style Rimworld game with elements from Oxygen Not Included

Thank you Drae! I've been asking for this for 5 days straight!
It would be interesting if you and two other adventurers tried "For The King" it's a roguelike dungeon crawler. I definitely recommend it.
Drae, as someone who's sunk 40+hours into this I have to point out the most glaring issue. You need Several braziers to heat a room. When you over over any tile, indoor or out, there is a space right next to the hour of the day that shows the particulars of that space, namely it's temperature. It'll also indicate if it's indoors or outdoors. Also, if you make seperate rooms or the fire has no direct line to your person, the heat will diminish.
Additionally, food stored underground will not degrade. most of them anyway. Get them out of heated spaces quickly!

By far my favorite series this year!
you can only dig 4 spaces in any direction from a support when underground or all the ground above the spot you dig will collapse. try not to let ground devour your kingdom :'D

You should probably start doing a basement if you don't want to continously expand the base sideways and upwards.

@Drae you should build a cellar for your foodstuffs, it keeps the food fresher longer. locking/unlocking the door only applies to your colonists not the enemy.

Drae nothing can be caught on fire the Steward is for turning off the fires during summer, also clay walls and wicker roofs are best for winter along with a solid heat source to keep your ppl warn in winter.

Give the villagers separate quarters. You can make them small also with just a small heater. The mood will shoot up.
We DEFINITELY need way more gameplay of this awesome game!
The doors staying open are a bug but it's only visual. Basically the door is closed as long as you don't have it set on "keep open" but the graphical side isn't updating. I had a bunch that looked open but they still had to break them to come in.

Sitting on the fence for sometime. After watching your video, I bought the game it.
Also you could replace those pillars with the wooden beams lol, much better that way

INTOVERTS
U should make a double door design like a small hallway with 2 doors at the entrances, the front one could be a grated door so u could still use spearman and the second one farther back could be a reinforced door for defence
bones are under carcass, i usually have a pile for human carcass and bones so you dont have to bury them, just make sure its a place your settlers dont walk past or it will affect their mood. apparently the bones can be used as fertiliser but im not sure its in the game yet

Be careful with placing building stations near those bar doors you seen what those can do, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Also, keep up the good work I enjoy this series.
as far as i can tell the 1800 on the braziers means 1.8 degrees to the room. i also think some of your rooms werent sealed properly and still counted as outside which means they get no temperature protection

If you just remove every second wall you might fix the issue with the roof collapsing.
It just seems like a missing supportomg wall could be the problem.

The settlers have different perks. The guy sleeping on the floor could like sleeping rough, I forget the name of the perk but they don't like proper beds.

Put food underground WITH flooring, normal ground makes food decompose faster

Food spoils slower the farther down you build. So store it at lower levels.

You can make un marked graves to burry people and bones are basically carcass I think
