I think the synths are pretty good, because they make you think of your strategy and approach different than just shoot, you have to position your self effectively and be smart with which synths you kill
My take on the synths issue is that, like the Prometheus style mutants, they simply don't have enough game wrapped around them. The mission gets considerably easier if you focus on the Synth Wardens to get the power cores as fast as possible and only use delaying tactics against the other troops.
I absolutely loved Alien: Isolation. I completely understand the gripes you had with the game and I agree with some of them. I also favor the original Alien to the sequel Aliens. Which is probably why I like Isolation so much. You hit the nail on the head when you said they complement each other and neither one is really better than the other. Which is why I still to this day think Aliens is the best sequel ever made. I’ve only played about 2-3 hours of this game and I really enjoy it. Not perfect by any means and heavily flawed, but the game knows exactly what it is. I really hope they patch in a FOV option like you stated. That shit drives me fucking crazy to the point where I don’t even aim when combat is really close. I’m sure the developers will listen to the community and make the necessary changes. Having better locations is a must as well. The prison in Alien 3 would be perfect. If they really wanted to surprise us they could adapt the planet and base from the recent Alien book called Alien: Into Charybdis by Alex White. We have wildly different opinions on Prometheus and Alien Covenant. You see a director who's forgotten what Alien is about. I see a director deciding the old story has been told and introducing new ideas with new priorities. Watching those last two films as being more about the androids makes them a lot better. Also, when has Alien ever been consistent, all the films have done their own thing to some extent.
1: The matchmaking with randoms must be fixed. 15 missions. can only join for 40 seconds for one specific mission. It will be impossible to join later when the player base dwindles. 2: Make the game more solo friendly. They must do this. I love the game. Playing with humans is fun, but as described above - playing with randoms will be hard. 3: Fix the bugs. Of course :D But I must also say. I love the game.
Here’s a random suggestion: Hardspace Shipbreaker. An early-access, zero gravity, cyberpunk blue collar job simulator about cutting apart and salvaging decommissioned spaceships.
I feel the exact same way about Alien 3. If you watch the assembly cut, you can understand Fincher's vision instead of the muddled thing that ended up in theaters (which I saw in theaters opening night). Also agree about Prometheus and Covenant, needless films that detract from the universe as a whole. "David made the Xeno's" oh, fuck off.
Aliens is my favourite movie of all time, hands-down and no question. You had me the moment you said the pulse rifles sound just like they did in the movie. This may be a case of being somewhat blinded by my nostalgia but in this instance I'm happy to make an exception!😁
haha I asked myself the same question Stability = Recoil. The higher the stats the less recoil you get while spraying your gun Handling = How quickly you can zoom in, draw the gun out while switching and movement penalty when you zoom Go to Load Out, click on either of your guns. Hover your mouse cursor to the bottom right where the stats are. The description is there when you point your cursor over them. Hope this helps anyone who also had the same question as us!
I feel like if they have another alien game, it should be a first person shooter metroidvania, and it should be in the style of Metroid fusion as in having the feeling of being hunted.
I’m not really surprised because of what I got after watching all of the gameplay vids and developer interviews. I felt that the Coldiron developers where really sincere in their passion for the Alien lore and that it definitely wasn’t a cash grab. And that they weren’t trying to re-invent the shooter gameplay wheel, but their primary goal was just to make a well polished 3PS shooter. I definitely gotta say that their goal was accomplished!👍🏾
Ran a search to see if someone already mentioned this, the Alt key's a great go-to if your mouse isn't interacting like it should. To piggyback off of this, Alt+Enter 95% of the time switches between fullscreen and windowed and might allow Alt-Tabbing if the game's toggled off Fullscreen before loading. Still a bug that needs to be addressed, but this might work like a Band-Aid until then.
Stability = Recoil (for each successive shot you fire, how close does the bullet land to the previous one) Handling = Movement speed when down sights or when you are not hip firing These two are applicable to tactical shooters (The Division, MoH, CoD, etc.), certainly never to games like Doom or Quake.
It really is a sin that a pulse rifle that sounds and feels this good doesn't have the grenade launcher Outside the movie weapons though, some of the guns just kinda dip more into standard shoooter territory and they are just kinda forgettable
They haven't done pulse rifles and smart guns right since AVP 1 and AVP2. AVP 2010 started the trend of dumbing them down, especially the pulse rifle. The moment I saw that the iconic pulse rifle doesn't have the grenade launcher nor the correct ammo capacity, i felt disappointed. It's pretty much a generic 3rd person horde shooter with an Aliens skin that didn't even get a AAA budget. It could be a mobile game with how little story there is and the lack of animations.
You can make Vasquez in the character customization pretty easily If you pick the right female voice she sounds EXACTLY like Vasquez when she gets grappled (It sounds like that sequence in the air ducts where Vasquez gets hit with acid)
personally I think the creative vision of the engineers just overstepped the actual scope they could achieve with movies really quickly, reading the plans they had, it's extremely high concept sci fi stuff, it's poetic and intriguing, an entire race that reproduces by seeding life on other planets through their own sacrifice, with extreme reverence for all life and evolved beyond our understanding. but besides the stellar visual direction of the engineers, everything else around the new alien movies sucks, and it's a crying shame.
Because it doesn't work in a movie Alien = Horror, Aliens = Action, and Prometheus = World building. If Prometheus was a show and worked with Weyland-Yutani's backstory of being idiots with the best PR department ever. It could have showed the parallels of what the Engineers wanted and what the corpos were gonna do with it. Since in game Weyland once again is SUS as hell and that science guy we saved in act 1 isn't telling us everything
About split-screen, i feel the exact same way, i strongly prefer to play with friends sitting right next to me, and if the game doesn't have split-screen, i do not play it! thx for bringing it up mayo! Great vid as always
a lot of people don't like the droid sections, but I did find the cover shooting segments refreshing. My main complaint is they're just too tanky. Should be able to kill them faster.
Oh if you think the Engineers are bad in the films, just wait till you get to the comics. Xenomorph acid doesn't have any effect on them, so a single Engineer can take down an entire hive using nothing but their bare hands.
I have to agree on the sound design they absolutely nailed the iconic gun sounds from the movie. And I like the classes they seem balanced and they all bring something unique to the game and work well together. As for the ending well they did mention DLC to the main game so I think that's where the queen battle will probably come in I bet.
for "minimizing" and going back to the game bug... alt tab back to the game and use your mouse to click into the game window to "activate" that window.. I've noticed in some other games that use unreal you have to do this too, simply alt tabbing back or clicking isn't enough, you gotta do both.
This game relit my love for the Alien series and horde based shooters... I was shocked at how fun the game really is especially with real human teammates.. This game is a blast and im glad we got a title like this imo.
I was with you 100% until you said how much you dislike Alien Isolation. I absolutely loved this game! It captured everything I love about Alien, a true horror masterpiece. I love both Alien and Aliens but prefer the first movie as it has a more serious tone. We all have our opinions though I guess? 🙂
I think it's not that bad that the motion tracker's down there. It forces the player to do the same as the marines in the movie: Choose between looking at the motion tracker or aiming. Sure, it's inconvenient but it adds to the realism and immersion if you think about it.
I like alien covenant for one reason, the neomorph, i like how it white making it stand out, and I like how rabid it acts, instead of acting like a swarm like regular xenos they act like a rabid animal
Weapon handling is most likely how fast you can switch to the weapon. I haven't played the game myself, but I play destiny 2, and it also has a gun stat called handling. It increases how fast you switch to the weapon, and how fast you aim down the sights. Since they are both multiplayer games, and they often use many of the same types of stats, that is probably what handling does, minus the ads time since Fireteam alien is third person. Oh and p.s, the matchmaking sucks because no one plays. Only 3000 players are online on steam playing it as im typing this.
Regarding stability and handling. I instantly thought of Battlefield, where each gun has spread and recoil (of course this is present in many other games, BF is an example). Recoil is how much your sights move after each shot, and spread is how much a shot can deviate from where your sights are pointing. Perhaps it's something similar here as well.
I don't recall if you've played the 2011 AvP game, but it's still to this date the best experience I've had with the franchise in a game. Give it a look some day if you haven't!
Regarding Stability and other stats, if you hover with your cursor over them the game will give you a detailed explanation. Stability helps with recoil.
they defo need to add the original characters from aliens and let you chose them vascuez, ripley, hicks, hudson etc DEFO NEEDS TO BE PLAYABLE/CUSTOMISABLE CHARACTERS
This game was definitely worth 40$ . Was scared this game was going to get old fast or it wouldn’t have a lot of special enemies but it really surprised me. The campaign is solid and doesn’t ever get repetitive. I’d give it a solid 8/10
I don’t know if it’s your style but maybe you should try GTFO. It’s kinda like this game but more more horror. It’s still a co-op 4 player class based shooter. Just scarier and more immersive also 1st person. Maybe give it a try sometime
Gtfo has 2 main issues for most people. Lack of proper match making and the difficulty being so high that you're required to have good teamwork to complete the mission. I personally adore gtfo for the teamwork side. Imo it's one of the best coop games ever just because of how engaging, tension filled it can get with friends.
Prometheus and Alien Convenant are very good movies and I’m so great full that the Aliens fire team creators have introduced the engineers ship and environment into the game that alone has won it for me. This game is so fun from cosmetics to environment to custom design and the fact I know there be more content to come I’ll give it an 8/10. 💯👍
18:43 I’ve heard people would have wanted a first person experience. This game wanted to dump enemies at you. First person would have had a tunnel vision effect on the gameplay I don’t think would be satisfying.
No you would just have a good FOV implementation and first person would have put you into the action, rather than leave you disconnected like this garbage.

Perhaps it's something similar here as well.
stability is how much your gun moves after a shot, handling is the speed at which you zoom in while aiming down sights.
This game is a solid 5/10
Technician for the win my favorite class especially with the flamethrower turret
Your review is spot on. I think by the time they completely finish, we'll look back and wish for games like it.
they defo need to add the original characters from aliens and let you chose them vascuez, ripley, hicks, hudson etc DEFO NEEDS TO BE PLAYABLE/CUSTOMISABLE CHARACTERS
It's weird to me how people don't mention how AVP is the seed of thought for StarCraft
Had no expectations, am instantly completely addicted to this game.
stability is spread of shooting, for sure
0:12 Why was there a shot of Doom Eternal?
STABILITY probably means RECOIL
As an UX designer I like to watch your feedbacks since it looks a bit like the way the give feebacks to interfaces.
Surprise? A generic soulless co-op shooter with a lick of aliens paint? Trust me, no surprises in sight....
they need to get the rights to add in some of the 90s Kenner action figure Aliens into this game
This game was definitely worth 40$ . Was scared this game was going to get old fast or it wouldn’t have a lot of special enemies but it really surprised me. The campaign is solid and doesn’t ever get repetitive. I’d give it a solid 8/10
Not even worth $5
I’m pretty sure that stability is referring to your weapon’s recoil
I don’t know if it’s your style but maybe you should try GTFO. It’s kinda like this game but more more horror. It’s still a co-op 4 player class based shooter. Just scarier and more immersive also 1st person. Maybe give it a try sometime
Gtfo has 2 main issues for most people. Lack of proper match making and the difficulty being so high that you're required to have good teamwork to complete the mission. I personally adore gtfo for the teamwork side. Imo it's one of the best coop games ever just because of how engaging, tension filled it can get with friends.
Love the review. AVP2 was the greatest fps I played on my computer back in the day
Prometheus and Alien Convenant are very good movies and I’m so great full that the Aliens fire team creators have introduced the engineers ship and environment into the game that alone has won it for me. This game is so fun from cosmetics to environment to custom design and the fact I know there be more content to come I’ll give it an 8/10. 💯👍
Bruh those were 2 most disappointing movies ever especially Alien Covenant..
@@ash_1419 wow then you obviously careless for any lore in the Aliens universe! 🤷🏼♂️💯👌
@@HawkEye_GW the lore is already there in the books but these 2 movies are laughable.
Personally I would prefer it if those two movies were a separate universe like AVP

I’ve heard people would have wanted a first person experience.
This game wanted to dump enemies at you. First person would have had a tunnel vision effect on the gameplay I don’t think would be satisfying.
No you would just have a good FOV implementation and first person would have put you into the action, rather than leave you disconnected like this garbage.
Bro ive always loved doom and your videos, but at the same time ive always loved alien franchise and is amazing to know you are a big fan of the franchise as well 👏👏👏, great review
In the comics one of those engineer guys were alive and had a trunk as a nose. idk why they just didnt use that.
Tech is good when you unlock more guns. Turrets are cool
Alien Isolation is a great game.
Damn you haven't played Alien Isolation or forgot? I think thats the last best Alien game. Going to check this one out.
Headshots are buffed in this game
Prometheus is Fucking awesome your crazy
I fn love this game..and I've never been an Aliens fan..good video Mayo
At least in alien fireteam they explain why the space jockey look like bone on the first one
