  • Little scene of an Apistogramma Trifasciata mother protecting her fry from the father. It’s typical for the females to become protective and keep all fish, even the father, away from the fry. The mother will use her tail like a hand (AMAZING!!) to wave the father away. When I noticed the parents bickering like this, I decided to separate them so the mother could be less stress. You can see her tail is a bit frayed and split, either from stress or the father biting it. Regardless, I thought it best to remove the father from the breeding tank so little mommy could raise her fry in peace. The end.
