MasterAquatics my angels have only been tank mates for 2 months and have tried breeding twice already this second time they have been successful I see a few wriggling is there any chance of keeping them safe? The parents are doing a good job of picking up any that fall off the leaf but they keep knocking them off. I don't have a spare tank is there any hope for them? I have bleeding heart tetras in the tank and panda/green corys and a whiptail. Any advice would be great. thanks first time fish mom.
Thanks for the Vid! I just purchased a pair of very small Marble Angels about the size of a quarter three weeks ago. Apparently while I was having surgery they laid eggs. They were wigglers by the time I discovered my good fortune. I got the parents out today and the wigglers just became free swimming and are all by themselves now. Now I am scrambling to keep them alive!
Your video was really enlightening. It answered all the questions I had concerning the Angelfish egg laying process and the after effects of not removing and also removing the eggs.
Im super lucky i suppose, my angel fish has been taking such great care of her eggs and hasnt let a single fish near (even the daddy!). ty for the info! wigglers are so cute haha
I used to think my angelfish were eating the eggs. Truth is they were keeping the babies in their mouth and spitting them out in the current of the filter to teach them to swim. They look for the ones that look ready to swim and pluck them. Then they would bring them to the top of the water and spit them out in the current of the filter. Amazing. My large male angel Neshetan is the best father ever! To this day he has protected a deformed one from the other siblings. The deformed one never leaves his side and imitates everything he does. LOL!
Do you start moving them right away? I found the eggs on the filter a few minutes ago and i don’t know if I should start moving the eggs to the other tank. Let me know thank you!!!

I purchased 2 angelfish about 2 months ago. Just noticed a bunch of eggs on the heater. I’d say close to 100 eggs. I wash shocked. Didn’t even know I had a female as the store said they had no way of knowing. Lol
So I am thankful to watch your video but so upset right now. Long story... I'm about 40, I've had fish since I was around 10 (off and on) ... as a kid, all I wanted was my fish to have babies, but neither my goldfish tanks (my real passion) or any of my tropical tanks ever did. Currently I have (among other things) a 60-gallon "Community" tank in my bedroom... it's got a bunch of different, small Tetras, a very small and kinda-small Angelfish, a handful of Tiger Barbs (who are amazing, they're the best, they literally play all day, never bother anyone else, just chase themselves and play in the Bubble streams...I think there's about 8 of them), a few Plecos, and 2 big, beautiful Angelfish. Yesterday, I came in from lunch and realized that one of the 2 big Angelfish was mercilessly bullying the other fish... she was turning herself sideways and "dive-bombing" all the other fish, she basically sectioned off half of the tank, and wouldn't let them cross... this went on for 30 frantic minutes while I'm Googling etc. and some people had posted that it might be mating / spawning behavior... Then I noticed, sure enough, it did in fact look like one was trying to lay eggs and the other was trying to fertilize them- but nothing happened - .... So just about 30 more minutes, I'm making the decision, "I have to get them out of there, even if they don't survive ... It's not fair that 2 big bullies kill potentially 20 other peaceful fish..." and so I decide, "They have to go into one of the other tanks, no other option..." and I walk over to the tank and , it's a Miracle! One of my largest Anubias plants is COVERED in eggs! I missed the actual spawning but, woohoo! Finally, it happened! This is awesome! And then the fish stopped being aggressive and literally took turns "fanning" the eggs, it was literally right out of Wikipedia, I thought, "This is amazing!" ... I was so happy, I thought, FINALLY! And I'm going to have a whole bunch of amazing-looking baby Angelfish... WOOHOO!!! I even briefly considered removing the Anubias plant and putting it into a 10-gallon I have (that is not set up right now) ... but I thought, it's not set up, so I might shock the eggs or introduce some problems etc. They look fine, I fed a lot of food to keep everyone happy, we'll be fine.... BUT THIS IS WHY I CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS in life... Well, I woke up this morning, and Mrs. Angelfish was just finishing the act of eating *every. Single. egg.* All gone. So I went from absolutely psyched last night to just dejection . I wish I did something last night. And the worst part is, the two fish in question are beautiful, and I could only imagine the offspring. The male is a HUGE silver and black-striped , similar to yours, and the female is black and gold with some silver highlights. I am so disappointed, but I will try to take your advice if there is a "next-time" and separate them immediately.
I'm here after doing a water change, I realised 2 angels got agitated when I started, realised there's eggs on the back wall of the aquarium, luckily I bought a 240lt 2 weeks ago so the rest of the fish are going to a new home and the angels stay there
Will the aggression stop after the eggs are completely removed? The mother is guarding them, and Papa is getting very defensive, too. I wish I could keep it, but unfortunately, I can not
My angle fish just layer and there in a community tank and we want to raise them. Shut can't move them till tomorrow . Should we leave the tanks light on or turn it off?
Thank you, are you able to force Angel fish to pair ? I mean if I know for sure that I have a male and female can I just put them in separate tank and force pair ?
My angels laid eggs on my Anubias plant leaf and I was wondering how to go about moving the leaf and eggs to my fry tank. Should I cut the leaf and affix the leaf to a slate? And as for the air stone, do the bubbles from the stone need to be in direct contact with the eggs or just in the general proximity?
I have a phillipino blue zebra angelfish mate with a mutch larger tricolor angelfish that looks very similar to yours. They're defending the eggs and eat an egg here and there. I was hoping to get some fry to survive to see what colors they'd produced, but that's a 55g and other tank is 15 gallon with guppies and Celestichthys Choprae so they'd be eaten in there as well. I defending don't need anymore fish as I'm already overstocked but I run 2 seachem tidal 110s so the water is great. I guess the water is good if they're breeding, right?
How do you stick eggs to green tile after you remove with turkey baster? I know the eggs that are fertile have a black centre or something? The infertile eggs are totally wnite. Is that correct? Thanks.
If it fits in they're mouth , it's food. I've seen this at my full grown angelfish and my neon tetras. It worked for years no one had been eaten so i decided to get a few more new tetras for a bigger school. Long story short one of the new ones only found theire way in his mouth. And it was an adult size
if they are small yes but they are rapid growers and you will need to upgrade the tank. I had 2 angels in a 20gal (they were not even 2 inches long) and they grew to 4 inches within 2 years and had to transferred into a 40. as they get older and bigger they need more space or they will get territorial and aggressive towards eachother and any other fish
I have small shells at the bottom of a holding tank. Can I leave them in there with the eggs? It seems unfair to take the eggs from the Mom, she's guarding the beautifully....Wil she eat the fry once they Hatch? What to feed them?
If my pair is raising their eggs well, I should leave em be? My pair haven’t ate the eggs except the white ones. They both guard the eggs. I’ve removed all other fish, should I do the parents at some point as well? 🤔
Hey, I have a communal tank about 5 ft. My pair of angelfish have recently layed eggs that have hatched and are free swimming. The only fish iv had to remove were my silver dollars as they were constantly being attacked and that was in turn making the parent angelfish exhausted and were starting to look sick (they bounced back within an hour of removing the silver dollar pair). The Angelfish pair so far have been surprisingly amazing parents, very attentive and protective. I have 3 neons which have been in the tank agers with no issues, I also have 2 small salmon catfish, 2 feather fin catfish and 2 small bristlenose. My question is what are the chances of any of the baby fry surviving if I leave them in my current set up as is or is it likely they will ALL be eaten? As it stands the parents have been amazing so far. I'm not sure about any of the catfish being an issue as they generally stay grounded in the bottom., however I have seen one fry been eaten by a neon so far =( again the parent's are very attentive at the moment and even though the fry now are mostly spread out within a small half of the tank they are constantly being looked after and regrouped which I think is beautiful. Your opinion on leaving the fry in my current setup and the chances of survival would be great. This is my first experience with something like this. Thanks so much.
I have 2 angelfish and I just notice the bigger angel has been only going after the other angelfish. I would like so see what happens but I dont like how there acting. I do have a 10 gallon but I won't need to drain it and don't have time for a cycle. Also I have a hang off the back filter to. They laid the eggs on top of a mushroom decor I have thats yellow. Right next to my intank filter. When is a good time to transfer eggs? And what can I do when babys get bigger?
Hi, very informative video. I've recently notice white eggs on my live plant and decided to cut leaves off and isolated them in baby nursery plastic tank (small with filters and air stone) attach to my 30 gal community fish tank. Is that ok to do? Listening to your video seems like I am doing everything right but want to make sure. Also, just notice them today, will I see some movement in couple days? That fast and what should I feed them? I have flakes and brine shrimp (frozen good stuff). Thanks for advice
Hue Chau they should hatch in about 60 hours after being laid at 78-80 degrees F. If they are white they probably weren't fertilized and probably won't hatch. The viable eggs are sorta clear to brownish / yellowish. After they hatch they are wiggles with an egg sack. They don't need food at that stage. Once they are free swimming, about 10 hours after, you feed for the first time. Baby brine shrimp is best sometimes the baby angels need a bit of movement to trigger eating and you can switch to flakes once they get used to the idea of small things in the water are food. Newly hatched brine shimp is best though for growth. The less travelling they have to do to eat the faster they grow. If they have to swim across the tank to eat a bite, they may burn more calories than they take in. Feed the frequently and clean the tank of uneaten food and waste frequently and they will grow quick.
I just found eggs a few days ago. I have set up another tank, and just have the eggs in there (20g) with the leaf that they are on....I have a heater and 2 bubble stones in there. Can I send you a photo of the eggs? Its been about 4 days since I saw them, and I'm not sure if they are good. There looks like 4-500 eggs...and about a dozen are white, which I understand are no good, but the others are clear...but I don't see them wiggling. I have 1 bubble stone close by, to continuously keep the water moving under the leaf. This is the first time they have laid eggs. I ordered a sponge, but it was huge, and the tube was big, and too big for the tube on my pump. What size sponge filters to you recommend for 20g.
Omg it's like abortion vs keeping the eggs. I discovered my laid eggs I thought it was aquarium salt stuck to the Algae scrubber and I didn't know until it was too late
@@MasterAquatics angelfish fry don't seem to have much sense for self preservation. They swim freely out on the open and get stuck in the gravel and rocks because they don't know how to back up when they swim down into the crevices.

Consider giving me feedback on the video about angelfish breeding I just uploaded. Thank you again! So helpful.
Hi, why my angel fish dropping eggs in water rather than laying on leaf or cone. Couple times it was on leaf, cone then filter intake. But this time she is dropping it in water! Thanks
Hey master aquatics We have a community 60 gallon tank with 5 angel fish and a few other fish. They have been together for about 5 months one of them appears to have a growing belly? Does this happen before they lay eggs????? I have looked for breeding tubes and other signs you have spoke about in your videos but I don't see any of them. I really enjoy your videos! Thanks in advance for your reply or anyone's else that can answer my question🐠
Yes. That happens. The female gets visibly wider at the stomach when it's breeding age, although it can also be a bad sign of bloat. Little known fact. If you feed freeze dried foods like tubifex worms, saturate them in water first, reason being the freeze dried foods expand when they get wet and if the fish eats a big bite of it while it's still expanding it can block their intestines they get backed up and they bloat up and it can kill the fish. It's not referenced much but you'd have to dig on the Internet to find it. The fish would be obviously distressed if this is the case though swimming bad and looking like it's dying. When female angels are old enough lto breed they get wider at the stomach than males.

I have a single angelfish in my aquarium, it laid a ton of eggs on my water filter. Are they viable to hatch, or should I just clean them off?
Anthony Greiner yeah if you know what you’re doing; and you could make a small profit from the fry
One female angelfish wouldn't work, there has to be two to tango-
Hi there, does the female gets “fatter” before laying the eggs?
Hello
My angelfish layed eggs today i want to raise up the babies
Could you please tell me what should i do?
There is no where to put a photo here, so if you have a email I can send the photo to
You are a great youtuber
Thanks.
Omg it's like abortion vs keeping the eggs. I discovered my laid eggs I thought it was aquarium salt stuck to the Algae scrubber and I didn't know until it was too late
Once we romoved the eggs we can just lay them in the new tank and wait?
can I use tub water to breed angel .........
Out of curiosity, why do you need to have a bare bottom for raising the fry?
So they dont get trapped in the sand and rocks.
@@MasterAquatics angelfish fry don't seem to have much sense for self preservation. They swim freely out on the open and get stuck in the gravel and rocks because they don't know how to back up when they swim down into the crevices.
Plz make a video on garra gufa fish nachural breeding and hormone inject breeding
My Angelfish laid eggs and I transferred them ,now they are free swimming. My angelfish laid more eggs can I put them in with my fry?

Do you use a special heater?
Do you have the link for the green wall?
Really very useful 👌
Should I put a heater on it when they hatched? I put the eggs in a plastic bucket filled with clean water. Plz answer me
This was really helpful, I am about to be removing my angelfish from the breeding tank and placing them back into my community tank to allow the fry to survive!
This was a good video, thank you!
Consider giving me feedback on the video about angelfish breeding I just uploaded.
Thank you again! So helpful.
i dont see the video
Hi, why my angel fish dropping eggs in water rather than laying on leaf or cone. Couple times it was on leaf, cone then filter intake. But this time she is dropping it in water! Thanks
What strain of angelfish is this
What is the real name of that green slate I cannot find it I waste my lot of angel babies today 😢
Hey master aquatics
We have a community 60 gallon tank with 5 angel fish and a few other fish.
So if the eggs are clear they are fertilized?
Can angel fish eggs be fertilise by any other species? My female angel is about to lay eggs and the male angel died 2 weeks ago.
What if I made a little attachment on the same tank next to the air stone? And move to a bigger tank if it actually works?
And also love your videos there asomme keep doing what you do.
What temperature should i keep the eggs in??? Please answer i found out the eggs today and i separated them from parents...
