Bella, you deserve top marks for the way you look after your responsibilities on the farm…you are smart, and hungry to learn…and you pay attention…your parents are so fortunate to have a daughter like you…Merry Christmas to you and all your family🎄🧑‍🎄🤶❤️🇨🇦

Bella has done a great job creating shelters for her animals and mastering homestead skills. You’ve really developed the farm and buildings. Silas is becoming proficient in so many areas too from music to wood splitting! All the kids learn so much more about life from homesteading and homeschooling…but I repeat myself.

Definitely a good choice. School ruined my kid's and the curriculum they are taught is really bad now. Somewhat demonic. Good job Mamma!!!!

@@minnamae25 there was No curriculum, my son begged his kindergarten teacher to give him math worksheets, she never did, so he complained everyday

@@chrystalzap kindergarten is mostly reading and writing. Sounds like you got yourself a smart kiddo. 😁 homeschooling is definitely better for him. He can reach his full potential. Schools got screwed up when they started that no kid left behind crap. Now they are actually making kid's dumber. I worked for our school district and witnessed just how slow these kids are now. It's actually quite painful to see.

@@minnamae25 not only that, but as you said before, there is no curriculum. All schools teach kids are for math is how to use a calculator. You could ask a fifth grader from a public school to do 10 times 2 and they'd need a calculator. It might not be that way for all schools but quite a bit. I find that to be absolutely rediculus!

Yes I have heard that it is very difficult to successfully raise the baby turkeys from other farms. I liked the farm tour today. Bella is so knowledgeable about the animals.

We lost our prize breeder from bloat. We had gone away for the weekend and came home to her dead. We used breed Galloway cows but not belted. They were great mamas. Could not get near the calf for weeks. We switched to alpacas after a few years and loved them. They were the easiest animals we ever owned. Only need to shear them once a year and they would protect the other animals we had. They are very intelligent and affectionate creatures.

I enjoyed seeing a tour of the farm.
So many accidents happen with machinery. Safety first. Also with wood stoves, fires can happen so quickly. I have done a lot of research of historic papers and such accidents happened all the time - even adults getting cut or arms stuck in machinery. One girl literally was scalped from getting her hair caught.
Watch for long sleeves or hair getting tangled in machines. Keep the chimney cleaned.
The song Stand up for Jesus was written after the man had his arm caught in a machine.
My own daughter had her leg cut with a circular saw. Her dad had his fingers cut off abs sewn back on when he was just a toddler from his dad’s saw.

We just experienced bloat with our Jersey girl, CeCe. It was so scary and I was so afraid we would lose her. We could not get a hose down her throat, so we had to puncture her rumen. Over the next five hours, I held a metal straw in the hole to keep releasing gas. We have since purchased a trochar. She survived and is doing great. This happened about three or so weeks ago. We also gave her baking soda as soon as we saw she was bloated, but it was just so hard to get it down her throat. The puncture saved her life. So sorry to hear about your Fern. It happens so quickly!

Ahhhh, chickens sleeping and pooping in the nesting boxes, same problem over here 🙋‍♀️. Thankfully we have 2 decent size coops. We ended up keeping one side for nesting and the other side for roosting. My son just goes out an hour before dark and shuts the nesting side up. They are starting to see now that they can't sleep on that side now. Poop here in the winter is awful. Freezing cold and cleaning is difficult. Warmer temperatures next week so our son should be able to clean it up. I suggested Turkey's to my husband. We like the meat better.
I love this video, Bella has good ideas and she's extremely mature for her age. Love watching her work with the animals.
Seems like those pigs are easier to breed, babies galore. I'm not sure of the breed but friends of ours had tried breeding their pigs, they are HUGE pigs and they just weren't successful. Local farmer told them they needed to vaccinate their pigs and also help the male mount the female. They just didn't want to vaccinate, they wanted pigs to be as organic as they could. These little pigs that you have seem to be a little easier to raise and breed. Definitely try to get these for our farming homestead. Soon we will be filling our barn up with animals.

Definitely get you on the poop problem. We have a town house / row house, so there are neighbors both sides of us. One of them has a gigantic pigeon coop that is over 2M high and so peeps over our dividing wall. We had to make that wall higher because the neighbor was looking straight into my bedroom! Anyway, it's a stubborn (& terrible) neighbor and the city actually forbade a coop of that size for a regular townhouse, but he appealed the decision. Everyone hates this coop. In any other area: why not, but in this area where we live? Nope. Anyway, back to the poop subject. Our neighbor has to scrape the wood daily and clean said coop. You can hear him 5 houses down scraping the wood. Understand your chicken coop predicament.

there is one thing for bloat in any animal if you catch it in time you can do. my one dairy goat I stupidly gave to much grain to and she wasn't use to the grain as she didn't come from a very good farm she bloated and was down within 20 minutes after eating the grain. Well I ran into the house and grabbed my Dr Pepper and shoved 1/2 of the can down her throat it took her an hour to feel better and be walking on her own it also gave her the runs but she survived. we didn't have an Emergency vet in are area at the time it was all by appointments and no vets on call.

there was a lot of topics crammed into this video. I think you could have made at least 5 different videos. Your Costco vids are somewhat interesting, but all of us shop, but not all of us farm. The whys and hows of farming are great. I always marvel at the way you and Jason use child power to get tasks done.

    • @chantellesimmons1064

    • @minnamae25
      @minnamae25 2 роки тому +1

@@chantellesimmons1064 nope, my first born was lazier than a pet coon. The summer before her senior year of school (she was homeschooled) my husband threw a bunch of applications at her and told her to fill them out, she's not allowed to lay around all summer, she's getting a job. So she did, and thankfully that job gave her a taste of what it's like to be responsible and make her own money. Now, she 19, and after all those year's of fighting with her to get off her lazy butt and help, she's actually a hard worker.
