    I combed out you locs and rocked my hair loosed for about six months but then I started over with Sisterlocks. I'm not about that loose natural life. Too much work. Have fun it's just hair.

      +Hajin Nosnhoj the consultants who are trained and certified to do the Sisterlocks technique are listed in a directory on www.Sisterlocks.com
      you can find vids online of how to interlock your hair into small size locs like www.nappylocs.com
      if u want Sisterlocks you should have them done by someone whose been trained BC of the trademark with that brand of interlocking

    I had locs in my 20's and then did the loose natural thing for seven years. I enjoyed styling it at first but then tried to grow my loose natural hair long. That was a lot of work getting the whole science and regimen of it down. Still, it would get to a certain length and break no matter how many products and fancy or no-frills trendy regimens I tried. When I was locked my hair just grew long and I didn't have to fuss with it, learn natural hair jargon, etc. whether I was on point with my routine or not my locs looked good and they grew. I'm locked now again. I had enough.
    But I like the loose bangs on you! And your make-up - wow, beautiful!

    It's the glorious thing about our hair, the beautiful versatility. I had locs for a couple of years...yaaas i did. I'm also a licensed stylist and understand there's a certain fragility that comes with the locs. I say that to say it's not as easy as some may think and can be a lot of "weight" on the new growth/follicle/hairline.
    Enjoy every aspect of you Jasmine!

    jazzy I was fortunate only to meet you at the last loc appreciation day and I must say you were sooooo beautiful and such a nice person. I've had my locs for 13 going on 14 years and since year 10 I was ready to cut them and do something new but fear is keeping me back. every now and then I'll see a video and entertain cutting them, but then I chicken out. I say all that to say that just two weeks ago I too started combing out my locks. to get two out took me about 2-3 hours. I did two in the back that way I can disguise it. I'm really excited about your new journey. and it sooooo amazing to see someone who's had locs for about as long as me take this step. please post more videos on your journey.

      +Onielia Douglas Hey, I cut my locs off after 14 years and the process was very difficult for me as I was not conditioning/doing hot oil rinses, drinking enough water or taking vitamins. If I had to do it all over again, I would prepare before cutting them. Good luck to you in your new journey.

    • @123leahm
      @123leahm 8 років тому +2

      Oh it's terrifying, but if you have beautiful loose hair to work with it can make all of the difference. In a comment above Jasmine says she does hot oil treatments and low manipulation with her locs, which allowed her to pick them out and keep her hair healthy. Also what I would do differently is to moisturize and seal my new growth nightly and do a scalp massage each day as well. I would focus heavily on the new growth as that is your new loose hair foundation.

    Ive always loved your locs and tutorials! An hour per loc?!? Oh my gosh! I combed my locs out (after having them for 3 years) and it took me a week to do it (even with my job!) Here is what I did:
    1. grabbed a flea/tick comb from a pet store. it is super fine and made the process sooo much easier
    2. conditioned my hair(dollar store conditioner will do just fine!) and let it sit for at least an hour
    3. Combed out the locs! starting at the bottom and working my way up. I put the loos hair in 2 strand twists to stay out of the way.
    each strand took me about 10 mins to comb out and I counted 150 locs! I am now rocking my natural hair, but will be starting loc journey #2 with braidlocs real soon!

    I combed mine out the later part of last year. Took me about 4 days, and I almost went mad. But I felt so good when they were finally all combed out. Like you, I missed my loose natural hair. I kept all of my length. My hair is a little pass my shoulders. I have to admit, I miss the convenience of my locs, but i'm learning to love and appreciate my loose natural hair once again. Your hair looks good by the way! You made the process look so easy. I swear that's one thing I never want to do again:-)!

You have Inspired me, not to give up. I so miss the soft natural coils of my loose hair. I've actually let my roots grow about 4-5inches. I stopped tightening months ago. Having my wavy roots exposed. Made me want my loose hair back even more. You Look BEAUTIFUL with Both. You have an amazing Natural texture. Thank you so much for doing this video. can't wait for the follow up on your new look. Three weeks ago I combed out my locs because I didn't want them too small and I used to interlock the roots which was horrible because it made it look even smaller. I retwisted them but this time they are more thicker. I'm glad I didn't have to cut them and start from scratch. that would've sucked. I love you and I can't for your new journey and the popping color.

      Right. I tried and cut all my hair off. Im thinking of locking my hair up again but i am not sure because i always cut them. The longer they get the heavier they felt. I tried dreads cut into a Mohawk style was NOT for me. Ive tried extension dreads which was amazing but they got heavy when my hair got longer. Washing was the worst. So now im like ehh. I do but i don't

    I combed out my locs but I found the hair was so damaged from the rat tail comb that I cut it all off.

    • @JasmineRose
      @JasmineRose  8 років тому

      +iusedtolovehim That's unfortunate! Did you condition and moisturize while combing it out? Also was your hair previously bleached?

    • @iusedtolovehim
      @iusedtolovehim 8 років тому +3

      +Jasmine Rose I did soak my locs in water and slathered it in conditioner. There are a variety of reasons why this is not the healthiest option for ones fair: 1) a lot of naturals don't even come their hair, let alone the damaging affects of a rat tail comb on hair that has never been combed- I think this was slot of the issue for me. 2) loc artists utilize and "interlocking" technique where they are pulling the lox through the new growth, which essentially knots the hair and makes it impossible to come out without significant damage. 3) your locs dont get trimmed...or when they do they get trimmed up the sides, similar to how you'd trim the stray hairs on box braids-in my case it had been over 8 years.4) this might not be for most, but for my I take care of my free natural hair way better than I did my locs...I didn't moisturize as often and etc...

    • @JasmineRose
      @JasmineRose  8 років тому +1

      Oh ok! I never interlocked my hair. only palm rolled

    • @iusedtolovehim
      @iusedtolovehim 8 років тому

      +Jasmine Rose yea also people Palm roll in different directions 😕 but if I was to loc my hair again, I would palm roll one direction, no interlocking, and I would take care of it like hair I was going to keep. I was always of the mindset that I'm going to have to cut it off anyway, so I didn't invest in real quality products all the time. Thanks for sharing your story.

    • @123leahm
      @123leahm 8 років тому

      +iusedtolovehim I did try to take down one of my locs (I'd had them for 14 years) but opted to cut them instead. So glad I did because my hair was SO damaged when it was loc'ed, there was no saving it. Actually what I should have done was to shave my head. It took over a year for my hair to begin to resemble the hair I had before I loc'ed it. Now 2.5 years later it's pretty much back to normal, but thinner.
