Just a couple days after I watched your video, I went to my son’s new house to replace some old fluorescent lights with some new LED lights. Took my EDC toolkit, and guess what I didn’t have? You guessed it… wire strippers!
@@tlenzi you and me both have an item to add!!!!! Honestly that’s how I learn what I’m missing, not having something I could have used or needed. Then it gets added. I don’t often take items away (might need it next time) but I do add.
The fast back do have a place to store one extra blade, I use that tool every day and I love it. Nice tool kit!
Awesome! I’ll be adding a spare blade asap. Thank you!!!
great kit! Small AAA flashlight and Bic mini lighter would be awesome additions!
@@ginamariebernard yesss!!!!!
Two additions I would suggest:
1) Knipex TwinGrip pliers should be a must, nothing else like them for gripping a nut, bolt or something 'straight on' (82 01 200); they could be perfect for your kit, you could replace your Channel Lock pliers.
2) Small (5-1/2") Knipex Needle-Nose Combination Pliers (08 21 145) are a good addition to consider. More versatile than 'regular' long-nose pliers.
Small adjustable wrench
Yes! Excellent addition!!!!
Small pocket level, mini magnet stud finder? Great Video, Thanks for sharing
very complete, only thing i would add is duct tape, wrap some around a old hotel key and it fits flat!
Excellent idea!!! I seriously can’t believe I forgot this. Definitely adding!
Might require downsizing the awesome driver kit....but, I'd add a 8-12 oz short hammer, a US Tape 1/2" x 10 ft SAE/Metric measure, a small roll of Velcro, duct tape around an old hotel key, tiny gorilla super glue, a Nitecore Tiny2 flat rechargeable torch, and a plain HB pencil. I use my Alpaka Vertical Sling with their Pro Strap add-on as my tool kit bag! I like zip ties (should have thought of that!)
Love this!!! Lots of great gear you mentioned. I’ll be adding some for sure. Love the idea of a sling bag as the tools kit!!!
Hi A.@@EDCQ. Mike from Calgary Alberta here. Using a sling unfortunately means giving up the clam shell opening, but on the plus side, the gusset opening of the Alpaka Vertical sling forces me to be really deliberate in selecting small size contents. (and I LOVE the blood orange interior!) The US Tape 1/2" measure is an example - it's fantastically thin. The metal tape will remain stiff horizontally out to about 3 feet before cracking. Grainger sells this.
Nothing more useful than a flashlight. If you can't see it, you can't fix it.
Excellent idea and point!!! Adding one!!!
I've removed my flashlight/torch and use my phone if light isn't available.
@@iangregoryhome A cell light is not always a good substitute, modern flashlights are small but bright and provide light much better than a phone; in addition, the phone is very awkward in tight or 'three-handed' situations where the flashlight has better holding options: magnetic base, or clip to your cap for a headlamp for example, cannot do that with a phone. Besides save your phone battery for more urgent needs.
@@JohnW118 just a suggestion for if you were struggling for space.
A flashlight and or a headlamp.Cellphone lights are expensive to repair.
Nice kit, that Wera set seems super comprehensive. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! The Wera set is amazing, highly recommend
It does hold an extra blade.
Pocket screwdriver, pocket calipers for measuring nuts and bolts or inside diameters , telescoping magnet for the bolts that fall under things so you dont have to bend over a bunch under a vehicle for a nut that went flying just out of reach, small adjustable wrench, knipex adjustable pliers better than what you have in you're pouch, great kit love it. I will copy this design except for one modification I will add a magnet to the handle. There are some threaded magnets at work super strong im going to run a bolt through the handle with flat washers on both sides of the handle. With that in place I can stick the whole kit to a vehicle or whatever and it will stay as I unzip it.
Thank you so much for this!!!! Excellent ideas. Really love the handle magnet idea, super functional. Definitely will be updating this soon!
The Stanley 33-116 16ft. Tape Measure is pretty compact. It might still fit in your pouch. Nice load out. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! I’ll be looking at that model, gotta love Stanley! Thank you so much!
The 39-130 is even smaller. It’s sold as a key chain, but you can remove the key ring and put it in a pouch or pocket organizer. The tape is 3 feet long, so it wouldn’t satisfy A’s 12-foot requirement. But it’s great for pocket carry.
@@MundaneGray thank you for this! That might might an excellent tape measure in another kit and even my edc bag. Love Stanley products and have been pretty pleased with their tape measures we have
Great kit! I use the vanquest edcm huge organizer as a dedicated tool pouch. I know its larger than the one you have but here's some of the things I've got in my kit that you might want to consider adding to your kit:
Telescoping magnetic reach tool
Pry bar
Small amount of electrical tape and duct tape (wrapped around an old credit card for flat storage)
Mini level
Small worklight ( i love the olight swivel)
Oil pen
Short stub of a carpenter's pencil
Hot glue stick and bic lighter
Small container with mix of common material (a few wire nuts, varying screws, nails, nuts bolts washers
Hank of small diameter cordage (bank line)
Leatherman with saw blade holder
Pair of thin work gloves
Pair of rubber gloves
Small squares of varying grit sandpaper (i can use my level as a sanding block)
Another thing to do is cut off about 12" of #12 or 10 ground wire, and thead it in the molle webbing. (This is useful for a lot of things like running wires, unlocking a locked car, electric conductor)
This is some great material!!! I’ve already added some tape, couldn’t believe I forgot that. I might incorporate a lot of these items, such a great list! Especially like the container of the screws and nuts. Also, hot glue and lighter, excellent idea! Seriously if I have room to add all of this, I will.
Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
Great tool pouch & great video as always! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks bro!!!
Nothing like a great EDCQ video to watch over lunch. Thanks A
Edit: You should carry a pencil as a backup for the pen.
Glad to provide videos for you to enjoy with a meal. Adding a pencil, excellent idea! Thank you!!!
Look at the Titan model 12138 crescent wrench from O'Reilly's . 5inch long opening to 1 3/16 wide. Great wrench I carry it in my HVAC cliptech pouch .
I will check this out! I’m always looking for good pocket sized tools. Thank you!
Hi, awesome kit. Maybe you could fit a precision screwdriver and some screw extraction bits? I'm thinking if the place you are working doesn't have more tools than the ones you are carrying, it's pretty likely something is corroded or abused.
@@tcanales excellent idea! I’ll definitely look into adding one!
I work from home and we have tons of tools all around. This is more a grab and go kit. Take this with me and see if it can get the job done.
Great gear and video !!! Thanks for your research !
Thank you so much!
Consider…6” adjustable wrench, scissors, AAA maglite, roll electrical tape, small roll gorilla tape or SOL duct tape depending on room.
Excellent additions!!!! Really love the idea of scissors! Can’t believe I forgot tape! Definitely updating this soon.
Small flashlight, wire stripper.
@@tlenzi yes!!!!
Love your style! Just earned another follower!!
Thank you so much!!! And welcome!!!!
I would simply add an 8-inch adjustable wrench. I have learned that the brands of Kobalt, Craftsman, and Milwaukee, open wider than other competitors. This wrench would pair well with a tongue and groove plier, like your Channellock.
Thank you! Excellent addition, and nice info on the Kobalt, Craftsman, and Milwaukee, very cool!!!
Thank you for watching!
It's a nice comprehensive set however a light would be nice unless you always have one with you. Then a pliers wrench and remove one of the other wrenches. Because your current set while it performs you might scratch the nuts and bolts unless they can be moved with the sockets.
For the tape measure it depends if you actually need more the size of the tape or more carriable tool.
The stanley panoramic is nice however it doesn't have a brake or magnet or any other things than a window to measure stuff. I have also a 1m stanley which is th smallest of its kind but it's half the measure length of your own stanley.
However if you want something with large distance consider something with a laser. Some of them are really compact.
I don't think you do electrical so yeah...
Thank you so much for this!!! I do carry a light, but a light in the kit is key and something I can’t believe I forgot.
Excellent recommendations!!! Pliers wrench is a great idea. Laser tape measure might be an excellent option for capable and compact, looking into those now.
Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
@@EDCQ I'm glad I helped. The only suggestions I can make is related to your potential needs. My own needs can vary a whole lot. But I tend to watch videos like yours to see also what kind of specific gear you use 😀 so yeah we all learn something.
If that's the Milwaukee fastback 6 in 1, then it has storage for one additional blade. It's a bit hidden on the side opposite to the button near the base of the handle. You have to angle the blade in between the handle and a black steel liner.
spot on!
Excellent! I’ll be adding a blade asap!!! Thank you.
Nice kit, I have same pouch and I put 2 blades under a patch on the Velcro area on the front…easy and safe storage….
That is an excellent idea!!! I might do that
Wrap sone black tape around a lighter and keep in pack...this way you have a lighter and tape, and it eont take to much room up.
Excellent idea!!!! Thank you!
Ciao amore 😊
😀
I don't have the full Wera Tool Check set but I bought just the driver handle/bit holder, and a couple of sets of Wera bits. The 813 driver is only about the size of a Bic lighter so it's ideal for pocket carry, but way better than overpriced designer EDC drivers out there on the market. Sits in my coin pocket with the 2 inch extender and a couple of bits, next to an actual Bic lighter.
Excellent! Love that the Wera fits in your 5th pocket, excellent set up my friend! Thank you!
@@EDCQ Cheers. I've found that carrying the Wera driver, together with Knipex pliers, and a folder or SAK with scissors and other tools (or sometimes both, e.g. Spyderco and a smaller SAK) works better for me than carrying a full sized multitool. Although I do sometimes carry the Swisschamp but the Knipex & Wera can get more work done.
maybe a small 6 or 8 inch pry bar? a 4 or 6 inch 1/4 inch extension bar for the drivers? just for that little extra reach, maybe? not sure what you do for work, but looks like an all around good kit. i am down sizing a tool box i carry in my truck for one that will fit in a bike saddlebag. been watching videos like this, and yours seems on par with everything i have seen so far.
Excellent ideas!!!! Thank you for this.
Add extra blades duct taped together
This is an excellent idea!!!
You know that you don't need the adapter for the bits in to use the adapter for the sockets just put it straight in the ratchet handel and you have a much more compact deal then what you showed👍
Love this!!! Thank you! Excellent to get in small spaces. Thanks for the heads up! 👍
You need a flash light. I would take the icon wratchet out. you have one in the bit set
Excellent idea with the flashlight. I really like the icon ratchet but I’ve been back and forth on if it belongs in the kit.
Perhaps hand protction would be good to have: gloves, also 1st aid items after cutting in your hands.
Gloves are an excellent idea!!! A few band aids or something might be good to have as well. I always have a little boo-boo kit/mini ifak with me. But a few items for just in case I don’t is an excellent idea
Scissors
Yessssss!!!!!!
@@EDCQ Reflective duct tape
Substitute channel locks and vicegrips forca pair or Knipex cobra 125 / knipex wrench 150 and or Bacho 150 wrench. Also add gorilla Tape wrapped round a ln old gift card/ credit card, some shrink-wrap and some plasters /antiseptic wipes and noticed no leatherman or Victorinox . Do you carry seperately ?
Those would be definite steps up in the wrench department. Gorilla tape is excellent! Can’t believe I missed it. I do have a multitool in my edc bag, sometimes on my belt. But adding one to this kit would add a lot of utility.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Don't see the point of imperial set, everything you need is in the tool check
Excellent point!
I would include flashlights
Excellent idea!
Harbor freight has a 10 foot tape measurer that is thin. Or fabric tape measurer is good for measuring circumference, etc. I think the Milwaukee is good for home use but too big for what it adds to your already good wera set; I’d just get a simple box cutter (.99 cents).
I’ll check out harbor freight. The fabric tape measure is an excellent idea. Small and compact. I like your thoughts on the standard box cutter over the Milwaukee, I’ll give it a shot. Thanks so much!
If you start outgrowing that pouch, Maxpedition makes a larger one. I think it’s called the Fatty or Chubby?
One thing I realized is that L hex keys come in handy. Quite a few times a standard hex bit wouldn’t fit because of recessed screws. Especially with bathroom fixtures like faucets and shower handles. I just use the metric and imperial sets that came with my dewalt socket set. Any set that comes in a slim organizer will work fine. They can fit in one of the back sleeves or even in the front of the pouch next to the utility knife.
The Milwaukee fastback is great because it can take standard 1/4 bits, wiha double sided bits, and even leatherman flat bits. The newer ones also have an improved retention mechanism to hold the bits.
I’d also recommend tweezers with angled tips and. needlenose pliers if you don’t already have a multitool. Knipex makes a great combo needlenose 0821145. Also a small and medium sized cheap prybar. Maybe a cheap pocket folding knife for times when it will be more useful than a utility blade, unless you have a multitool.
Forgot to mention the knipex twin grip has gotten me out of some situations that would have been frustrating without them. The Klein electrician’s scissors (2100-7) are also great because they store easily but can cut so much including most of the wires you’ll deal with and theyre just a good general purpose scissor even for most precision work with the tips. A metal and wood file might also come in handy.
Love this! Thank you so much. I think I have one pouch larger than the one I’m currently using, if I outgrow that one, I’ll definitely snag a larger maxped one, great to know they have some large ones, I have the mini and micro and love them!
Excellent point about the l shaped hex/allen tools. I hadn’t even thought about needing those, I’ll definitely add a set!
Great idea about the tweezers and pliers as well as the scissors. I have long wanted a pair of the electrician scissors, maybe this is what they finally get bought for.
Prybars = excellent idea! I haven’t noticed the bits coming out or feeling like they would in my Fastback, but more retention is always good.
Again, thank you so much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it
I haven’t added them yet and the L hex key addition would have come in handy earlier this week.
The video is brilliant! I was looking for this pouch and clicked in the link below but seems to be its not the same product what you have on film? The Wera set is about 7.5" ? So how you put this in pouch? The spec what you have in link is about 7"? Is that exactly Vanquest PPM Huge model ? I cant find on manufacture web? Thanks
Thank you for watching!!! You are spot on!!!! I linked and posted the wrong pouch. It’s the EDCM Husky: EDCM-HUSKY 2.0 Maximizer (Every-Day-Carry-Maximizer)
I updated it. Thank you for pointing that out, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for info! I am sorry to be pain but i think its not Husky too beacuse Husky model has a horizontal and veritcal slots .... It must be a EDCM Slim 2.0 Maximizer model?@
Huge Mistake - fuck-off those pittiful Irwin excuses (personal opinion) and get Wera Cobra / Pliers-Wrench. Throw away that pittiful milwaukee (personal opinion) utility knife and replace with Olight Octacle U1
Agree with the Wera, definitely plan on upgrading some pieces with more quality products. I really like the Fastback but I haven’t tried the U1 yet, it looks freakin awesome, I tried to buy it when it was released but it sold out, it’s been in stock for a while now but I still haven’t bought one, definitely need to. Thanks so much!
Hello, I see that you have good equipment but you need duct tape and a flashlight. Greetings
Yesss!!!! Cannot believe I left out either one. I do keep a flashlight on me, but a dedicated one for the lit, probably headlamp, would be excellent. And duct tape to fix basically everything. Thank you for watching and commenting!
