  • Over the past several months I've been putting together a small EDC tool kit that can handle a large variety of small repairs or adjustments around the homestead and on my vehicles. Recently I've added a few key components that have really leveled up this kit.
Thank you to Todd for gifting me the Tool Check Plus. You can find our podcast here: share.transistor.fm/s/0cc9fc04

A spring loaded nail set is amazing. Get the one with a punch on one end and a nail set on the other. No need for a hammer and it can punch pilot holes, drive nails home, knock door pins out, etc. and it’s smaller than a pencil.

    Great kit!
4 small items that i would add to it:
    1. Electrical tape
    2. Gorilla tape
    3. Zip ties
    4. Bic lighter

I swear by my icepicks for tool kits, I've made multiple versions in different sizes, it's basically a very thick and long Awl so that it can be used for prying, scraping, punching holes, scribing, positioning etc
Even for making additional holes in people if needed ;)

    • @EYALAVRAHAMI
      @EYALAVRAHAMI Рік тому

@@---Michael--- i think that a screwdriver can do it all. Not that an icepick is big or heavy but yet.

    • @---Michael---
      @---Michael--- Рік тому

@@EYALAVRAHAMI tried it but the point is better for marking hole locations and making small precise holes in soft materials, also I can heat it up and stuff without really worrying about ruining the heat treatment
And I already have the Tool check plus with me therefore I don't really need a screwdriver

@@---Michael--- If You use the small diameter one, let it be many new orifices, or maybe just one at a very strategic place, where no man want more than one hole.😊

GREAT KIT! This little tool kit would have saved me HOURS of frustration and hundreds of dollars when my battery lost connection while riding. Total power loss at 60 MPH in the middle of nowhere. Stood waiting for a tow truck for hours and the cost to get everything, including me, back home, would have easily paid for a few of these kits. Thanks for the idea as I've been looking for something exactly like this for my next long ride.

This little tool kit looks perfect for putting in a glove box in a car, keeping handy on a boat, or keeping handy in a small RV trailer. My trailer is only 20 ft long but is a bunkhouse model that sleeps 5, so it doesn't have a lot of storage space. I have been wanting to find a small but useful tool kit to keep inside the travel trailer for quick easy fixing tools so I don't always have to try it out. The full toolbox. It occurs to me that having another small tool kit like this in the glove box of my truck can also be very handy when I am away from the trailer.

That’s a great kit, I have some Knipex already and just got the Wera Tool-Check Plus today and made a small but very significant mod to it already.
I put a hole under the head of the ratchet so I can store it with the 1/4 inch adapter ready to go. To use a socket I don’t even need to open the main compartment.
This is how I went about it. With the ratchet in place I poked a hot straight pick tool down the middle of the ratchet hole. First just left a mark then checked for concentricity and adjusted before making a hole, then I proceeded to make the hole bigger with successively bigger drill bits but by heating the blunt end. I let it cool and removed some melted bits between each drill bit, ending in a 9mm hole that came out pretty neat.
The adapter lines up fair perfectly with the bit hole beneath it and I place the smallest Allen head bits in front of it. The main compartment closes properly and can be accessed without removing the ratchet. It basically looks factory, no one without the kit would even tell.

Nice wee kit. You raise a good point with the wire; a selection of commonly used fixings (a few screws, nuts and bolts, wire and even wall plugs), in a plastic bag or container, are so much more useful than the ubiquitous gaffer tape and cable ties, which of course I also carry in my EDC toolkit.

  • @Bouwentjes
    @Bouwentjes 4 місяці тому +4

    Awesome kit.
I am inspired to assemble my own.
I will add a size 14 socket (Japanese cars and bikes) to the wera set and stainless locking wire (normally used to secure aircraft nuts etc) instead of trapping wire. Also will add an high output lighter and a small (gel type) glue tube. Those knipex wrenches are also mandatory I guess. I have the larger one already and love it.

Love the video! I have two recommendations that I carry in my EDC as a mechanic that after watching your whole video sounds like you might be interested in
    A) Knipex Twin grips, theyve gotten me out of some tough spots where some of my other knipex were just not the right angle i needed.
    B) VIM HBR1046. On one end of it an adjustable locking head holding a 10mm that comes with a 3/8 head. On the other end is a 1/4 inch bit same adjustable locking head. Both bits are removable, both ends have the thumb stud on the back you like, and overall a very slim profile. However, it is 10 inches long so if it wont fit in your bag completely understandable. But a lot of options in a compact design.

Nice. FYI I'm pretty sure the knipex plier set are 00 20 72 V04 not V01 as per your link. Both are 125mm long.

Come for the tool kit, stay for the sound effects 😅 I'm going to add that ratchet and some wire to my kit. Thanks😁

Haven't bit the bullet and bough any knipex yet. I probably should as they would be good for at-home and at work as a mechanic. I like the wera tools too but from when I've looked before they seem expensive. I'm cheap and just dela with what I have until it breaks.

I think they are overrated. I've never used them and never needed them. He says they replace a crescent wrench and that may or may not be true but if you need a crescent wrench in your EDC then you're probably doing stuff that you probably need a full tool kit anyway.

Nice kit. Kershaw Blur is a solid carry, I settled on the S30V steel blade. The spine is sharp enough to throw sparks off a ferro rod. Holds an edge well.

Couple small additions to consider. Small pair of needle nose pliers, small diagonal cutters, small pick.

The reason I don’t have needle nose pliers is because this works in conjunction with my edc (leather man) which take care of the other two things as well.

Nice kit dude! Gonna see if I can get that socket set here in the UK. Do you ever add quick fix aids in your kit like zip-ties, electrical/duck tape, Velcro ties etc? I usually EDC a sharpie (the new Twin-tips are AMAZING!). I also find a Rite in the Rain notebook is handy too. Anyway, I enjoyed the video! Will subscribe and look forward to more content. Thanks!

What type of ratchet is the one that converts to ant handle?

Love your kit! But, the link for the pouch is linking to a smaller version of it, the Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organizer, that doesn't fit the Wera Tool Check Plus. It could be that Amazon changed things up on their end.
